“Steaks, you got something good for me?” V.Q. eagerly asked as he got up from Lovienthal’s old couch after having been parked there most of the day watching Antique road show. “You know I got you covered, homes.” Steaks said as he pulled out a second sandwich baggy from his pocket, this one filled with tabs of LSD. “Wonderful, my friend,” V.Q. said with a smile. “Take it easy with that stuff now,” Steaks said as V.Q. placed a hit on his tongue. “I don't need you off in outer space again like last time.” V.Q. jokingly looked back at Steaks with a scoff of disregard. “When have you ever known me not to be able to handle my business?” “Hell, the last time you took too much, you shot off running throughout the park naked as a jay bird,” Steaks answered shaking his head as he recalled the event in his mind. “Your old balls swing all over the place. I think you ended up giving Mrs. Ballentine a thrill she hasn't seen in twenty years. Bitch, damn near had a heart attack.” …show more content…
just looked at Steaks giving him an awkward smirk before saying, “What? If she didn’t want to see it, then she should have closed her eyes, my friend.” Lovienthal pulled a couple of beers from the refrigerator handing one to Steaks saying, “Mary should be coming by in a little while. She should be just about now getting done with her shift at the mini
V.Q. just looked at Steaks tensely and asked, “Do you think he’s become sick? You know, from the scratch.”
She sent me a deathly glare. “Who cares? There's a load of gross guys staring at us right now.”
“You've always been a real bitch, V, but care to let a dead man finish his last beer?” Pinky out, he sipped and she shot the bottle, splintering shards of thick, green beer bottle glass into his hand and face.
"Ah..." He choked on silent words, reaching his hand up to the corner of the counter as he lifted himself up. He drifted his fingertips across the cold bottles, sucking in breaths slowly as he popped the caps off the three bottles. The small pills tapped against the counter as he poured them lazily into his hand. His body slid down again, the bottles falling next to him as he poured the pills from one hand to the other. He ignored the blood that dripped from the newer cuts, soaking into some of the small pills.
“Jeez, man, that was a good shot.” Lovienthal said humbly while looking back at Steaks through his rearview mirror.
The conflict in “A Piece of Steak” is that the main character, Tom King, is going through a financial crisis, so he must win this match. Tom King owes people money and can’t afford to buy food for his family or himself. King is a boxer who is now in his forties. He’s no longer the youthful and full of stamina champion prizefighter. He have trouble finding a job to support his family, so this match that King is going to fight means a lot to him. If he wins the match, he can win thirty quid which can pay off all his debts, but if he loses, he will have nothing.
He slowly takes the meat in his mouth, chews it, and then he swallows it down. "Good. See I told you I wasn't going to hurt you, but now if you want some more you have to come out" say to him.
Gabe flashed her a look and she didn’t need him to tell her not to share their bacon or pemmican. She shook her head at him once, then added. “Fish would be
“All right, babe, see you tonight then...” said Lovienthal and then he crammed one of the sausages Mary had given him into his mouth, taking half of it down in one bite. He then picked up his thermos from the counter along with the other two sausages he planned on taking for V.Q. and Chuckles before heading out the doors himself.
“Yay,” he said with absolutely no sound of joy in his tone as he put the pills in his mouth and then followed with the water and downed the pills. Why not get a bit more of a high from the methadone before the real fun began. He bunched up both and tossed them into the garbage.
It wasn’t long before everyone had forgotten all about the news broadcast, electing to be in a more spirited mood which even included Chuckles after Steaks had secretly poured a couple of beers into his water bowl. Over in the living room Lovienthal and Mary were now doing what they referred to as dancing while V.Q. sat on the couch watching them solicitously.
“Hmm..just get me a salad as usual; can't eat anything with meat remember?” Valerie reminded.
People believe that extroverts and introverts are like a cut of steak. People like to believe that the steak they ordered is very clean and clearly cut; people also consider introverts and extroverts to have clean-cut attributes. Like many, people will believe that introverts do not enjoy people and only appreciate time with themselves. Also, many people will place extroverts in a group of loud-mouths, people who just want to have an enjoyable time and may not be the most astute. Although people believe that the qualities of introverts and extroverts are clear cut, there is more to introverts and extroverts than may meet the eye.
“Coffee is ready Love,” offered Tank, seated at the kitchen table. “I supposed you might be able to use one this morning.”
“Alpha, it's probably not a good idea to show up at another alpha’s territory all y’know…wolfed out.” Jared vaguely waved his hand.
