George wasn’t freaking out because he’d long felt he’d hit the ceiling at work. Not the glass ceiling, but a steel ceiling, one that could not be shattered. Bert and Ernie would never make him a partner, and they already paid him pretty well and were not likely to give him more than incremental raises in the future. But now that Stellar was becoming a division of Circular, George wasn’t at the ceiling any more. There was a floor above his head, populated by Circular execs. None of them knew the video business as he and his friends at Stellar did. They did know the music business, inside and out. Maybe George would get to learn that business, while helping them to understand his. Maybe work would become interesting
In Love and Hate in Jamestown it talks about the hard times in early Virginia when the Jamestown settlement was just beginning. The book goes to tell the story of John Smith and the Indian Princess, Pocahontas. He explains the friendship between the two that how there wasn’t any romantic feelings between the two, but how the princess was fascinated with the English settlers and John Smith.
The Last Star was written by Rick Yancey. Even though it is the most boring book in the series, it’s an exciting book full of action and cliffhangers. There isn’t much going on in the start of the book, and it slowly moves onto something important. It got boring very quickly. The Last Star could have been re-written to be a better book.
Cosmicpaw hadn’t been here for long and she still wasn’t sure if she was going to be staying or not. She had come back to Blizzardclan to check up on the place because she did care about this clan even if she wouldn’t show it. But mostly to see if her father ever came back. It would seem that he may have left for good after her mother, Tama, died. The girl wanted to blame him but how could she? Cosmic hadn’t been a good daughter and wasn’t sure if she would have stuck around for herself. It still hurt that he was out of her life now. No one ever stuck around, which is why she was afraid to stay. Scared to make friends who would see her sour personality and just leave her alone yet again. What terrified her the most was the idea of the voices
That’s when Lloyd noticed it, Antlo was clutching her chest with a desperate longing look on her face. Lloyd figured that the chest had other things in it; unmated Evilans did have a habit of putting items in storage containers in hopes that their soulmate would happen to stumble upon it, and if they do magic will let the Evilan know that their soulmate has been found. Evilans as a whole are sensitive to their soulmates aura, and that is what Lloyd guesses that is what is going on with Antlo. Lloyd isn’t going to deny Antlo the right to know her soulmate (plus Lloyd knows how it feels like to have your soulmate dangled in front of you, and then taken away because you’re too young, it get’s even worse when you realize that draw it’s a one time
He goes by many a name. In fact he has forgotten most of them. Though they say there's no time like the present. You may address him as Shinn. Shinn rather enjoys the life of a cartoon character. From a Prince of Monkey-like aliens to an mighty Hero with a rather QUIRKY lifestyle. Shifting and molding his voice like some sort of ruggishly handsome cup of puddy. Why does he do this? A wise question for such a beautiful person such as yourself. Shinn does this because it comes easy to him. A source of joy and a core of absolute energy.Shinn has been fixated and attached to entertainment boxes such as Televisions for as long as he can remember. From dancing and singing foods to a exchange student in a school for animals. Shinn has even taken his
Star Wars is one of the greatest film saga’s to ever hit the big screens in the whole world. With the new Star Wars Trilogy coming around now, Disney is now releasing books to fill in the gaps of what’s been happening since, “Return of the Jedi” (Star Wars: Episode 6). Star Wars: Lost Stars takes place eight years prior of Episode IV and starts out on the planet, Jelucan. We meet a young, noble boy, Thane, who wants to grow up and become one of the best pilots for The Empire. Throughout the book, we travel alongside him for years, and we learn he does become one of the top TIE –Pilots. In this journal, I will be covering three thesis statements, Evaluating, Questioning, and Predicting.
Code Name Verity by Elizabeth Wein is a thrilling historical fiction novel with absolutely naturalistic characters. My personal favorite of these characters being Queenie (aka Julie, (Lady) Julia MacKenzie Wallace Beaufort-Stuart, or Scottie). Queenie is a spunky, brassy, quick-witted, Scotish young woman who is a spy under the British military. She is captured by the Gestapo when she made a cultural mistake on one of her missions in France (#1) and is thouroughly interrogated and brutally tortured. She eventually makes a deal with these secret police to write a confession telling them all she knew of airfeids, coordinates, coding, the resistance (exc.) for a few extra weeks alive in their prison and the shot at getting sent to a concentration
X reported his mission and the assault to the boss. “So this threat we’ve been dealing with is called ECLIPSE, and they tried to kill you along with other passengers on the plane?” asked the boss. “Yes, ECLIPSE is behind the attack. I had help uncovering the organization we’ve been dealing with.” replied X. The boss paced from side to side of her office. “X, I want you to head to Bucharest, Romania. There has been sighting of a small group of mercenaries there, and I think they might be affiliated with ECLIPSE.” X nodded and headed to the airport. He made it to the plane to Bucharest, Romania. He landed to his destination and took a cab to a 5 star hotel. He stayed on the 23rd floor of the hotel. X took a look out of the window from his room.
As we left, I realized I'd lost favor with Linus. Instead of laughing and pounding me on the back, he sullenly stared at the ground and ran his fingers through his drug bag. White powder stuck to his fingers, which he sniffed away with weak-heated snuffs.
Rabbinical Judaism sects of the modern era trace their roots back to Pharisees living in the Second Temple Period of ___. However, the foundational stories of Judaism found in the sacred Torah are even older. Many of the traditions, characters, and places mentioned in the first five books of the Hebrew Bible are so ancient that their historical accuracy cannot be verified. Even though these events would’ve taken place millenniums ago, the stories of the Torah continue to have a significant impact on Judaism today. This paper will focus specifically on the stories of Moses found in the book of Exodus and how the methods used by modern Orthodox and Reform Jews to study the Torah significantly affect how they reconcile their present faith with the tales of the past.
Petra felt like a queen. And in a way, she was. She was on the throne of one of the best mobs in Panem itself, making lots of money and bribing people to look the other way. She had peasants who worked for her and did her dirty work, though Petra herself didn't mind getting her own hands dirty. She had a mansion where she made her own rules and held extravagant parties. The brunette was adored and nobody could stop her. Before she was a princess, and now she was most definitely a queen. She loved the violent and reckless life she was living.
On Earth, scientists estimate that there are over 7,500,000,000,000,000,000,000,000 (seven quintillion, five hundred quadrillion) grains of sand. It is believed that for each grain of sand on Earth, there are over 10,000 stars in outer space. A star is a luminous ball of plasma held together by its own gravity. However, every star has the same general chemical composition. Despite the seemingly endless amount of stars in the sky, we can not yet see them all, which plays a huge factor in the amount of stars we are able to observe. Each day, light from distant stars is reaching Earth from stars that are millions of light-years away from the Earth. The constant arrival of new stars into the observable supports the idea that the universe is constantly
1. The gift of the porcupine necktie prepared the way for other events by implying that Stargirl was the necktie. Leo loved porcupine neckties ever since his uncle gave him one and he has always wanted to collect a ton of them. As years go by he still cannot find another, until one year, on his birthday, he receives one in the mail from an anonymous sender. This may have been suggesting that Leo had been searching for someone special but couldn’t find anyone, until Stargirl mysteriously showed up.
No one in town would argue that Ceres (the best farmer) in Olympia was not the “Goddess” of Agriculture. Her fruits were the gems of the Earth and her grains were fit for kings. However, her daughter knew her mother as the Goddess of being too overprotective. Yet, Stephanie loved her mom and her mom loved her. That didn’t stop Stephaine however from being annoyed at her mother.
The short story, “The Star” takes place on a spacecraft built for exploration of the universe. The chief astrophysicist, a jesuit, is constantly troubled by his faith. His crew surrounding him find it amusing that their chief astrophysicist happened to be a jesuit. However, what his shipmates didn’t know was that his faith is constantly being shaken as he questions how the universe came about as he passes through the stars. The crew then approaches the Phoenix Nebula. Expecting to find no remains, in the midst of the catastrophe appears the last planet that remains of the stars burning. Enthusiastically the crew sets out to find the unknown characteristics of this discovery in the
