Stem Cell Research: Should we continue to allow scientists to create new embryonic stem cell lines? Good morning everyone. The topic of Stem Cell Research has been argued over by politicians, scientists and people all over the world for over a decade. Scientists should not be allowed to continue to create new embryonic stem cell lines. One of the ways to obtain stem cells for scientific research is to destroy a blastocyst (laboratory-fertilized human egg). Destroying the blastocyst is the equivalent of murder or ending a human life. Life begins at conception, and the destruction of this pre-born life is morally unacceptable and not justifiable. Even if the outcome of extracting these stem cells can be beneficial by saving or reducing…show more content…
Finally, the use and extracting of embryonic stem cells are putting aborted babies through more suffering than they have already attained. Stem cells can be taken from aborted babies and used in research. This is morally wrong and women should not have the option to sign off their dead baby/fetus to scientists for research. These fetuses could have become smart adults but since their life was already taken from them, they should not have to go through scientific examination and ultimate destruction. Ask yourself this question: Would you rather an embryo that could have grown into a successful human being have its life taken away for scientific research OR have the opportunity to save millions of lives (including your own) by donating stem cells and knowing that you are not harming the future
