Commencing in the fifth grade, I have been hooked on basketball; it is the part of my life which lets me relieve all of my stress. Unfortunately, after two knee surgeries, I struggled with the concept of playing basketball again. Worry made me sick to my stomach before every practice and game last year because I
The game was about to start, walking onto the court, warming up and getting ready for tip-off, I had a huge amount of confidence before hand. The game had begun, although, as the game went on, I wasn’t doing as well as I would have liked. It seemed like I couldn’t hit a shot, neither could the entire team.Throughout the game, we were always down, we never lead at any
Basketball has always been an easy sport for me. I was the team captain and one of the carriers of the team. I was quite confident in myself and knew the consequences of not playing. But when I became a freshman in high school and could not play on the middle school team I had one option, to play on the varsity team. I was nervous because I had made friends on the middle school team but did not know the dynamic of the varsity team. When the first practice rolled around I was anxious.

I see my buddy Tom, and I run up to him. He looks at me and smiles, we both knew that we would be at this camp and we were excited. I look at Tom and he doesn’t look nervous at all. They blow the whistle, and tell us it’s time for the showcase game, a game where all the coaches look at your skills on the court. Not just playing but also leadership skills, and your ability not to get frustrated
My main thing I needed to work on was making less turnovers. Turnovers are the least thing you want to do during a basketball game. Making one turnover can make a huge difference.
Parents are very concern about their daughters playing sports. Parents wants to find out from the coach, what time practice starts, where are you practicing at, if it is a male coach; will there be a female who will help assist with the girls, and what time practice ends. Parents also want to know who will be bringing the children home. Parents love to see their children play sports. The best thing is to encourage your child in the sports he or she is playing. Children play good when they look up and see their parents in the audience. Once the parents agree to let their child play, parents tells their child about the advantages and disadvantages in playing basketball. I encourage my child to do their best and do not give up if this is something you like to
After I'm on the court and I see and hear all those things I get these feelings that I feel no where else. As I'm working hard and improving on my skills all I feel is adrenaline rushing through me. I feel the need to improve my game and I need to give it my all every second I'm on the court. I can just feel my heart beating 100 miles per hour. When I am on the court have this feeling that surrounds me and makes me feel like I am meant to be here. Every time I am huddled around my team I feel the "family" part of basketball. The stuff I feel gives me the urge to improve my game.
See that mountain side over there? Looks like the face of a woman, doesn’t it? They say it looks that way because once… It was July 5th 2016 it was offseason in Oklahoma City and Kevin Durant wanted a ring and he is thinking about the 3-1 lead that they blew against the Golden State Warriors. He was looking for a new and better team that can get him at ring. So he looked at the Golden State Warriors the new rival team of the Oklahoma City Thunder. One day all the Oklahoma City Thunder fans heard of this, and they started calling him a snake for wanting to leave and they thought he was a trader, and they all got together and started to cut out Kevin Durant’s face and put the name cupcake above his face. So every time he goes to play Oklahoma
Last year I played on the freshman team without much prior experience. I went to two basketball camps which helped with my autonomy and discipline (getting up at 5:00 to work out), I also went to the vast majority of conditioning sessions throughout Spring and Fall of last year. This year I tried out and made the JV team which was a great achievement that I was really proud of. As the year went on though, I realized that I wasn’t going to be given the chance that I think I deserved and wasn’t going to get many benefits out of the amount of stress and work I was putting into the sport. This was difficult to realize and deal with but I feel that I finished the year well and without too much worry. Next year I have decided to play rec basketball and enjoy myself with more friends and less stress.
Going into my freshman year, I was definitely nervous to start playing high school basketball. The first day of tryouts were extremely hard and really made me fight through a lot of soreness to get on the team. As I kept putting in hours and hours in the gym, by the time I was a junior I was getting a lot of minutes playing on the varsity basketball team at Century High School. When I was a junior, I decided that my passion for basketball definitely made we want to play at the collegiate level. I had no idea what career field or college I wanted to get into so this is where I felt a little confused and overwhelmed at times. My senior year came very fast, and after the basketball
Well I wake and I know we have a game. I wake up and eat a decent breakfast you don't want to eat to much so your stomach does not hurt when you start running. But the game is at 1:50 and i have a lot of time to get ready. Me and my dad go to the gym before games so I can warm up. But when we get back home it's about time to get ready for the game. After I get ready we got to the game and we are normally pretty early so i have time to warm up there to. But normally I am a starter so i'm on the court for jump ball. In the first quarter we went up by two but i did not play so well. After a couple minutes went through I told coach to take me out i was not playing good. Well know we are in the second quarter and I did not play this quarter now
The Harlem Dancer reflects that goodness and hope can remain through struggle. The poem begins by characterizing the audience of the dancer. Including the detail that the audience was full of “youths” (line 1) expresses the freedom that they feel, which contrasts greatly to that dancer’s life. The detail that they “watched her perfect, half-clothed body sway,” (2) portrays their perspective of the dancer. They view her as a sexual object, rather than an actual person.
Basketball is a lot of fun. It is also very challenging, because you know you have to be one of the best or you will not make the team. It caused a lot of us stress. At this time, you will be put in the positions that your coaches feel you are best at, not the position that you want to play. Basketball is very competitive and not everyone makes their school teams even if they were the best on their rec teams or travel teams. This is when many kids realize that playing basketball for school is not going to happen so they just continue with rec ball which actually is a lot of fun, because you are just really hanging out with your friends having a good
Basketball seems to get into your blood. It is said by those who play, "You eat, you sleep and you play basketball." When I was a little girl all I wanted to be was a professional basketball player. I couldn't count how many times I pounded that dumb ball in our driveway until it was too dark to see, then I would play for hours more by the porch light. Now I realize that was only childish insanity. Back then they didn’t even have a girls’ profession basketball league in the states. However, that didn't stop me from walking away empty handed. One thing I learned was how to prepare oneself for life. Well, at least, how to prepare oneself for a game.
