In the Sci-Fi thriller The Host, by Stephanie Meyer, Earth has been taken over by an alien species. The access was slow and undetected until it was too late. Now these aliens or parasites, known as Souls, live inside human bodies, which act as hosts for the invading parasites. Usually when a Soul is placed in a new host it is able to take full control of the body, pushing aside any trace of the human’s notice that once lived inside. The book begins with a Soul named Wanderer who is inserted into its new host. It seems the human who once inhabited this body refuses to give in and die. Melanie Stryder, the host, wants no part of Wanderer and is doing everything she can to fight back. Even though Wanderer controls the body, nothing she does is
The book I am currently reading is called “As Dead As It Gets” by Katie Alender.
Sarah Polley’s film Stories We Tell is as much about how we interpret images – what we take as “true” – as it is about how we remember. Through a close analysis of the film discuss what you think the film sets out to do and how it achieves these aims. In answering this question you might also want to look at reviews of the film.

It is inevitable for someone to go through life and not ever have to feel the unfortunate feeling of grief. Eden Robinson provides a heart wrenching novel that gives readers the feeling of hope and doubt all at once. When a tragedy strikes it is in those moments that people show their true character. Although, when some people experience tragic situations they are never able to recover. Monkey Beach tells a story of a teenage girl named Lisa, who just so happens to face death, discrimination, and the spiritual world all at once. For Lisa she discovers who she is, ironically through the losses of others. Even though Lisa has to face many struggles in the novel, not only does it bring her closer with her culture, it lets her connect with people who have been disconnected.

All families are distinctive, but several have several of the same qualities. After watching the television show, Parenthood, I discovered that my family is a lot like one of the families in the show, the Bravermans. Both families are similar and one example is that we take on an appearance of having it all together, when in reality we are extremely dysfunctional. Not to mention, we are comparable in ways that the characters from the show resemble members of my family, and how both families respond to tragedy. Seeing connections to another family are constant reminders for me that we are all analogous in some way, shape, or form.

A question asked in the first Nightline interview is “Who is Morrie Schwartz?” (23). Morrie is a professor in Philosophy at Brandeis University dealing with a terminal disease, but this description only scratches the surface. Morrie is a person with valuable life lessons, and an optimistic attitude toward the worst of situations. He has an open personality, causing him to always let people know how he feels. Morrie sympathizes and touches those he has not met in person. With a personality like Morrie’s, this seemingly simple question asked on Nightline is difficult to answer.
On Wednesday, January 25 at 10: 30, I interviewed Stephanie Moret, a graduate student at Northern Arizona University. Ms. Moret is an English major, with her specific graduate program being Rhetoric, Writing and Digital Media. Her thesis focuses on how using social media could solve problems with understaffing, specifically in her hometown. Hopefully in a few months she will be able to put her thesis to the test back home, where she hopes to get a job with the city. She will help with their social media and marketing department, as well as overseeing their aquatics department. I met Ms. Moret my first semester at NAU in English 105, where she instructed me on how to write a wide variety of essays both individually and collaboratively. I chose to interview Ms. Moret because I am currently unaware as to what I want to do career wise, however, I know that I will be
Many mothers plan their children and are overjoyed when they discover they are with child; others are surprised, and perhaps not as pleased. However, not many can say they became pregnant when they have never had sex. Jane the Virgin is a CW network television program about Jane Villanueva, a religious young woman who has never had sexual intercourse but becomes pregnant by an accidental artificial insemination. Due to the nature of the main character's situation, the topic of sex, virginity, and conception is often discussed, as well as what it means to be a virgin. Although virginity has historically been viewed through a traditional Christian context, Jane the Virgin has given the term a new meaning with a non-traditional and modern day

This is the first novel in the “Bones” series released in 1997. Temperance Brennan has devoted her life to justice, even for people that she did not know. Her daughter and her best friend are put in danger because of her search.
The podcast “serial” by Sarah Koenig, the narrator, is about the murder of Hae min Lee, an 18 year old high school student, who was murdered by her ex boyfriend, Adnan Syed. However she encounters evidence that may say otherwise. Adnan is guilty of the crime because his stories had inconsistencies like about the car ride, the day Hae went missing, and how he took the breakup.
While reading this book I was a bit disgusted and sad because the main character is Carrie White who has telekinesis and hasn't told anyone and Carrie has been abused physically and emotionally her whole life by her mother and the kids at school and decided that she will make everyone face the consequences and Chamberlain, Maine is the small town she lives in with a small population of people and her mother Margaret White has raised Carrie very poorly and abuses her, and regularly was sent to the closet in the hallway to pray for what she has done which her mother calls sins and one day at school after P.E Carrie is showering and when she gets out everyone begins to laugh and when she looks down she notices blood is running down her thighs
