Stephen King’s book ‘On Writing’ is a book like I’ve never read before, the book is set-up in a way that I would not have thought it to be. Part one and Part Two are set-up to be like a memoir illustrating the life of king before his big break as an author and an accident that almost killed him and ended his writing career. Part three of the book tells on the mechanics of writing, all of the little pieces and details that make a writing piece into masterpiece. King not only entwines his life into the art that he has taken up, he educates us on how to become better writers ourselves. Main mechanical techniques that king brings are: Adverbs, symbolism, and grammar.

Although aspiring writers can learn the basic components of what Stephen King considers great writers to possess good vocabulary, proper grammar, and the elements of style, experience and insight cannot be taught. Thus, while it is impossible to make a competent writer out of a bad writer, and while it is equally impossible to make a great writer out of a good one, it is also impossible, despite lots of hard work, dedication, and timely help, to make a good writer out of a merely competent one. Given that many have taken writing courses and still aren't and never will be great writers, it is obvious that there is something inherent in great writers that goes beyond mere learning.

This could stem for many reasons, such as: if the material will be censored or reviewed by the royal committee, the author’s personal political beliefs, fear for their safety (if they were to portray the king negatively).

Many authors, even one's popular today, use or have used pen names for some of their novels, short stories, articles, and etcetera. These writers use pen names for many reasons like trying to have a fresh start, to avoid being categorized or ignored, to be taken more seriously, and many other reasons. Authors like Stephen King, J.K Rowling, Benjamin Franklin, and the Bronte sisters have used pseudonyms in their writing. Many other authors use these aliases when writing as well.
