I want to major in Psychology at CSU Stanislaus. I plan to pursue a Bachelor's than afterward a Master's degree. My dream job is to become a Councilor. I want to make an impact on people as I move through life. I want to make a difference. Community Service to me is the selfless act to help out. Even in the smallest ways one can be making our community a better way! Just offering to help someone who seems to be struggling to put bags in their car is helping your community. I want to live and be in a community where people care about one another. I try personally to be part of the movement for a community that cares for one another. I like to do simple acts as the one given as a example above. I also volunteered at a local retirement home originally

I have attended the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh for the last two years. I will be entering my junior year pursuing a Bachelor Degree of Science with a major in Environmental Studies. My career interests entail green energy and natural resource management. I was a young child when I started attending a summer camp program that emphasized nature and environmental conservation—ever since I have made outdoor activities into hobbies and continued interest in environmental sustainability. The University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh focuses on sustainability through green building, alternative and solar energy, and curbing pollution.

It is without a doubt, attending Rutgers University brings prestige to your name, and distinguishes you from the competition. With over two hundred and fifty years of rich history, Rutgers has been proudly represented by alumni as they continue into their career paths. Dating back to 1766 when Rutgers was first established, notable Rutgers alumni through the years have ranged from politicians such as Elizabeth Warren or Chris Christie to businessmen like David Stern, or even athletes such as Carli Lloyd. It is without a doubt, that Rutgers provides exceptional education as seen through what these alumni have been able to achieve. It is due to the combination of history and high level of education that I believe will help me achieve my career goals.

As a pre-med hopeful, my criteria for colleges has been the following: the college must have a strong biology program, particularly in genetics, as I plan to major in biology with a concentration in genetics and biotechnology. My ideal college must have a plethora of research opportunities, and it must be affordable for my family. Middle Tennessee State University has met and exceeded all my standards. After applying to colleges with steep tuitions, I realized that I needed to choose a university that would allow me to graduate with little to no debt. My mother had taken courses at MTSU, so I searched the college online and discovered its exceptional biology program. No other Tennessee state school I had researched before had as many in-depth classes as MTSU has.

I should be selected to attend the FSU CoM Summer Institute because I love learning, enjoy being challenged by hard classes and/or tasks, and I have always had a love for the medical field. I grew up with my mom’s side of the family being in healthcare, her being a doctor in Russia and a nurse in the US and my grandmother worked in a lab. Ever since I was a child, I always wanted to be a veterinarian, but as I grew older my attention turned towards people. I have always been very compassionate and kind towards people and I want to fix everything wrong in the world, which of course can’t be done. I decided that healthcare would be my best option, specifically being a surgeon. With this profession I will be able to help save lives and influence the world in a positive way.

Who we are is a concoction of our life journey, relationships, tastes, goals, and countless other things. I am a family girl from Mexico who is a first generation college student. My family is the greatest part of who I am. They would give and do anything for me and vice versa. Life has brought me to the construction science program at Texas A&M and I could not be more excited to finally see the light at the end of the tunnel!

As a transfer student, I want to feel California State University, Fullerton (CSUF) such as my home. Being ambassador, it is the best to learn about my school, share my experiences, motivate other students to work towards their goals, look for help if they need, show other students our school's resources, and make others feel special for being part of CSUF.

Standing at the front of the class, my nerves grew from a small, nagging annoyance to rampant thoughts of failure, causing me to scramble, my memory of the topic becoming fuzzy. My groupmate made his closing statement, which signaled to me that the hard part of our presentation was only just beginning. Watching several of my peers’ hands raise, it sunk in that the questioning phase of our presentation, and the only phase we could not thoroughly prepare for, had commenced.

After high school, I am going to attend Texas A&M to get an undergraduate degree in public economics and after that I will pursue further education at the Texas A&M Law School. I am going to get a degree in law so that when I graduate I can be a partner in my family's law firm. For the past couple of years I have toyed with the thought of either going to join the marines or being a lawyer but in the end I came to the conclusion that becoming a lawyer was the best bet for me; three generations of my family have done it and I would like to fill their shoes and carry out tradition.

I could be considered a hidden figure because I am a multi-faceted individual. I have a passion for learning and recalling information. For example, I have been the team captain for my Black History Quiz Bowl team which competes for 6-8 hours, Jeopardy style against other schools. I initiate contact with my school advisers and study groups outside of school hours. Other academic talents include continuous A-Honor Roll, scoring 5/5 in every subject for the state End of Grade testing. I was selected as the highest academic achiever in the 4th grade, thereby receiving honors and recognition at the UNC and Duke Football game as “All Star Achiever.” My next hidden talent surfaced as I attended an amazing summer camp at Clemson University. I have known for a long time that Baylor is where I belong. While I have repeatedly seen the Lord open doors for me to be able to attend my dream school, I never would have expected to receive the opportunity to attend an event like Invitation to Excellence. Not only was the event a chance to improve my financial situation, but it showcased Baylor University’s personality and important aspects of patient care. Invitation to Excellence provided insights into the healthcare profession, interpersonal experiences, friendships, opportunities, and chances to think critically.

My knowledge and experience from attending CSUF and working in the retail/customer service industry has allowed me to better understand the field of Marketing. During my employment at Fullerton College Writing and Tutoring Center, I took on multiple roles. Aside from being the front desk receptionist, where I managed scheduling appointments, I also tutored students on computer fundamentals (MS Office programs, Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator, and emailing). I was responsible for creating flyers for its services and available workshops. I worked closely with the center’s coordinator in developing and posting flyers throughout the campus and on its website.

Out of all of the skin care products in the world, your bathroom cabinet needs to be filled with products researched and designed by me. When I entered high school, I discovered my passion for selecting lip sticks, lip glosses, lotions, perfumes, and makeup foundations. You name it. After learning about the connections between the information in my chemistry class and these items, a light bulb went off! I maintained an A average in chemistry throughout the whole year! Additionally, in 2014, I became a student in the Academy of Engineering and Technology, which also heightened my interests in chemistry. In a science fair at that academy, there was a chemistry course where we made colorful slime, and during that process, I learned that I get an adrenaline rush when I am mixing different chemicals together to see what the outcome is. Majoring in chemistry at Norfolk State University will definitely prepare me for a very successful future in chemistry! My ultimate goal is to conduct research and development for chemical cosmetics. I plan to obtain employment at the greatest companies in the world such as L'Oréal and Avon.

Throughout my entire life, I have always been one to constantly push myself and pursue new challenges. In high school, I excelled academically while also being a three-sport athlete, a member of the National Honor Society, and held an active presence in my community. In the classroom, for as long as I can remember, I’ve been intellectually curious and fascinated with solving problems through quantitative reasoning. The desire to continue my education in a quantitative field and gain important soft skills, while also boasting the ability to be involved in many extracurriculars led me to pursue a degree in economics from DePauw University. In a constantly changing industry such as finance, it is imperative that one is able to adapt quickly and think outside of the box, and DePauw has prepared me to do just that. I
