This case gave me an insight on things I never expected to be true I never knew a person could get away with murder/manslaughter. This case was greatly affected by race. George Zimmerman saw a young black man going home and for some reason thought he was a threat he probably sterotyped Trayvon, the moment he saw him. There was no reason to pull a gun Zimmerman was much bigger than Trayvon if there was a scuffle. Also since Zimmerman was never charged he has gone on to hurt other people such. George Zimmerman has anger issues and should have had more extensive screening. This has been proven by the following incidents:

Scalise has “sponsored and cosponsored legislation protecting citizens’ right to keep and bear arms” (scalise.house.org). In the 112th Congress, Scalise introduced ‘H.R. 58’, the Firearms Interstate Commerce Reform Act, which helps allow law-abiding citizens purchase firearms (scalise.house.org). This pro-gun stance in his legislature gives him a solid backing from organizations like the National Rifle Association. Scalise also is a member of the Congressional Second Amendment Task Force. San Bernardino shooting Wednesday morning leaves 14 people killed and 21 injured. San Bernardino, California. On December 2, 2015.
The Goliad Massacre, also referred to as The Goliad Execution, was the brutal shooting of Texas soldiers by Mexican forces. On March 20th, 1836, Colonel Fannin and his army unconditionally surrendered to General Urrea’s forces the day after the Battle of Coleto Creek. They were taken to the Presidio chapel in Goliad and were kept there for a week. Most of the men thought that since they had fully surrendered to the Mexicans, they would be taken and eventually brought back to their homes. Unfortunately, that was not the case. On March 27th, 1836, the Texan men were marched out to different roads in town, believing they were on missions to gather wood or to herd cattle. Slowly, the men realized their fate as they were told to stop walking a half-mile away from the fort. The men were then all shot by the Mexican forces and the remaining people who were in the chapel were killed as well.

At this point you have probably already heard of the Parkland Florida school shooting. It was considered the third deadliest school massacre in the United States. On February 14, 2018 Nikolas Cruz, a former student expelled from Marjory Stoneman Douglas High school, shot and killed 17 people and injured 16 more. After examining all the theories, I have decided upon the “labeling theory”. This theory discusses “how people can be labeled deviant after committing a deviant act, which can then lead them to carry out further acts that reflect that label” For the article selection, I chose CNN “School shooter showed violence and mental instability at home, police reports reveal”.

Healthcare professionals see the aftermath of gun violence. Many healthcare professionals support gun control (Healthcare professionals speak out on guns: “Definitely changed my opinion on the 2nd amendment…”, n.d.). These professionals see patients with gunshot wounds (GSW) who are bystander victims, children who accidentally obtain a GSW through play with guns, results of gang violence, and the list goes on (Healthcare professionals speak out on guns: “Definitely changed my opinion on the 2nd amendment…”, n.d.). Blood banks are drained by these events (Gun Violence: A Public Health Crisis, 2017). Nurses and paramedics admit to being afraid of treating a GSW patient because a shooter may come to “finish the job” (Healthcare professionals speak
