Cyberbullying is a huge problem today, but it is not the only bullying problems. When fostering good behavior educators can empower students to become “heroes” by using kindness. This includes: including other students, be respectful to everyone and make your school a safe place. Fostering good behavior can be done by creating a positive school culture. This is done by creating a sense of belonging, making the students feel welcomed and heard.
Additional elements This program has different opportunities to train the educators. Educators learn to create activities to teach students about bullying using an evidence-based curriculum. According to the website:
-80 percent of fourth and fifth graders are kinder after the Kindness Retreat.
-85 percent of students stood up to peer pressure after the Respect Retreat.
-Students reported a reduction in bullying after the Courage Retreat” (Unknown, 2015). Since No Bully was created they have:
-“Trained 8,000 educators and staff in the No Bully System.
-Created bully free campuses for 200 schools across the US and internationally.
-Provided over 120,000 students with proven solutions to stop bullying and harassment.
-Schools trained by No Bully are able to remedy over 90% of cases of bullying: (Carlisle,
The behaviour policy outlines the school's aims of how to create “a positive community atmosphere in which children can learn effectively by promoting good standards of behaviour”. The school aims to recognise and respond to good behaviour in children, promoting a positive classroom environment where the focus is on praise of children's good behaviour and work. It outlines rewards and sanctions, and sets out a code of conduct that all children, staff, parents and governors should be aware of.
Schools are the most well-known settings for bullying. This is the place where students learn and socialize for most of the day. A school is a place meant to feel safe, not afraid. However, studies have shown us this is not the case. More and more students are reluctant to come to school. Why? Their peers may criticize them and abuse of them both verbally and physically. Bullying is more serious than most think. Many people just think it’s a simple hoax that was taken too far but this simple joke can lead to indelible emotional and physical scar that could hunt students for life eventually lowering their self-esteems and even ruining their lives. Schools and teachers have failed tremendously at stopping this.
About 10-15 percent of students bully others, and 85 percent of boys of girls and 80 percent of boys have experienced harassment. (Feldman 331). Therefore, it is important to teach or train students to stand up for victims. This is known to have reduced bullying.
They will be active participants in the Bullying Prevention Coordinating Committee (BPCC) and lead staff discussion groups on how the program is going and what can be done to improve implementation and troubleshoot problems. The primary role of teaching staff in this program is to lead class meetings to discuss cyberbullying and to create a positive classroom and school environment. Teachers will also be responsible for addressing cyberbullying behaviors with individual students, posting and enforcing the school bullying rules, and participating in staff discussion groups to support the implementation of the program. Non-teaching staff will also be responsible for addressing cyberbullying behaviors with individual students, and participating in staff discussion groups to support the implementation of the program, and bring any concerns of cyberbullying to the appropriate school personnel. Parents will be encouraged to attend special parent meetings to help promote the program and increase awareness. Parents will also be invited to attend a parent information session on school’s cyberbullying prevention program in order to learn about the negative consequences of cyberbullying behavior and to be aware of signs that their children are being bullied or bullying others, and to be encouraged to bring concerns to the appropriate school personnel.
In conclusion, a kindness program is better for student to learn that a classic anti-bullying program. The current anti-bullying programs are old, out of date, and proven are not effective whatsoever. Students need a new approach to deal with the modern day issues students face each and every day. I saw a drastic change in the behavior of the children who I would talk to and through experiencing this firsthand, I can say that this was a wonderful experience for myself and for the children, Not only have I proven that a kindness program is effective, I have also proven it can be done and results will be seen soon after beginning.
If schools neglect integrating bullying programs in their schools, studies show that kids will be more vulnerable to aggressor that comes along, even when they reach adulthood. Stopping bullying in while people are children will have a significant impact on their confidence while growing up. This is why schools should have bullying prevention programs at the top of their funds list. Schools can no longer regress to ignoring bullying, because bullying is often linked to
“The first program lesson given to the students included an explanation of work methods, class rules and exposing the problem of bullying” (Wilfer & Scheithauer, 2014). The following two classes were repeated lessons on addressing the issues of violence and moral courage, educating and sensitizing students for the repercussions of bullying (Wilfer & Scheithauer, 2014). The third module aimed to improve the student’s understandings of their personal feelings as well as others. They did this by forming a circle taking turns talking about situations were they felt angry, betrayed, or sad and why they felt this way. The following two classes approached the topic of social complexity of bullying by discussion about why it has been accepted. They also role-played in order to understand how it is to be the burlier and the victim (Wilfer & Scheithauer, 2014). The sixth module was repeated for six lessons that trained the students to consider other people’s perspective and how to empathize through role-playing and discussion. The seventh module taught the students about diversity and how it is important to respect other cultures,
Bullying is a big issue today with children and adolescents. Bullying can harm a child and hurt a child’s feelings as well. It is so important to try and prevent bullying behavior from happening. Children are usually not born a bully. Bullying is usually a learned behavior. A child who is a bully will often bully another child. Sometimes a child is more prone to being a victim if they are not as assertive as their peers (Bullying, 2015). Bullying can manifest in different forms such as physically or verbally. If students take a class that teaches them social skills will they be less likely to bully their peers? If students were to attend a social skills class they would be less prone to bullying behavior. Learning social skills is a very
In Practical approaches to behaviour management in the classroom (2012, p. 7), the author states that, “in order to create a positive learning culture within a school, effective interventions need to be implemented”. This means that for constructive learning to take place in the classroom, as a teacher, I need to be able to administer the correct response strategies to encourage positive behaviours in my

School bullying is a big problem that most students face in school. The NCES (National Center for Education Statistics) report reveals that most bullying starts happening in middle school rather than senior high school. These hurtful actions may cause many students to suffer from depression, dropping out of school, or even suicide. School bullying has caused many problems to students, but there are ways that parents and school staff can prevent school bullying.

The best way to address bullying is to stop bullying before it starts (Prevention at School). Students at a young age are more likely to listen about how not to bully rather than an older student. Young students absorb information and take the information in like a sponge soaks up water. The Sevier County School

One of the top social issues affecting our children in schools is bullying. In recent reports, one out of every four students reports being bullied during school (National Center for Education Statistics, 2015). Bullying is very important to me because I have been bullied through my schooling career. I remember how it was not only the bullies that made my time in elementary hard but also the bystanders that did nothing to stop them or stand up for me. This issue has definitely gotten more attention over the years, but it is very important to continue the anti- bullying campaigns. It is important for all school officials and workers to be aware of bullying and help prevent. Although bullying has been present in our schools for a very long time we should do everything we can to stop and prevent bullying so each student can look forward to an enjoyable time in their schooling career.
