Stormbreaker by Anthony Horowitz
The book, Stormbreaker, by Anthony Horowitz is about a boy named Alex, whose uncle had just died in a car crash (or so they say). He finds out that his uncle was really shot by a man named Yassen Gregorovich. Alex’s uncle, Ian Rider, really worked for MI6. He was a spy that was hired by MI6 to figure out the secret behind Herod Sayle and his Stormbreaker computers that he was donating to every school in England. Ian Rider had figured out the secret, but before he could reveal it to MI6, he was shot and killed. Alex’s uncle was the only family he had left, and so it deeply affected him. MI6 decided that they were going to give Alex either the choice of becoming a spy and taking the mission his uncle

192). Right when she said, “I’m feeling dizzy, you go on,” I knew she was tricking him. But, of course, Alex just happened to have the tool that can burn through metal in his pocket, so he used it on the fish tank and it collapsed. I was also surprised that Sayle had implanted the small pox virus into the Stormbreaker computers that he was sending out to every school (p. 186). That was how he planned to harm everybody in England.
I really admire the character of Alex because he is very courageous and intelligent. At the beginning of the book, Alex wanted to find out if the story about his uncle getting in a car accident was true or not, so he went to the auto wreckage center nearest his house to search for the car. Once he had been searching a lot for the vehicle, he ended up finding it to see it in perfect condition except for bullet holes in the windshield (p. 19). He heard people coming, so he hid inside the car. Then a big crane picked the car up and starting smashing it in a machine, with Alex still inside! After all the struggling, he managed to get out of the car just before it went through the part of the machine that totally crushes the car into a cylinder (p. 24). I felt pretty bad for Alex. It must have been hard for him to have to go through a really brutal training camp for something he didn’t even want to do, especially since he had just lost his last family member. He had no idea what was going to happen to him

Alex is a pilot in the Navy that is very proud of his military discipline and high standards. People are constantly scared of one of nature’s most feared storms, the tornado. This storm can happen anywhere and anytime if the conditions are right. Some people are willing to risk their lives to see this! It is a thing of beauty in their eyes.
In the book Into The Wild by Jon Krakauer, Krakauer writes about Christopher McCandless, a young man who drops everything in his life to go travel throughout the states and end up in Alaska to find the truth to his questions. But did Chris find the truth he desperately desired? Some would say that McCandless did, other would say that he has wasted his time and was being ignorant and stupid. I agree with the author, Jon Krakauer, that Christopher McCandless was not a crazy lunatic, a sociopath, or an outcast because he had made lots of friends while traveling, but there were times when Chris was incompetent, even though he managed to stay alive for quite awhile. Christopher McCandless had a pretty normal childhood.
Snap judgments have been around forever. Whether or not you are aware, millions of thoughts go through your head when you lay your eyes on something for the first time. These small judgments seem unimportant at first, but what if “…our snap judgments could be educated and controlled” (Gladwell 15)?
Denise Giardina did an excellent job of intertwining history and fiction in Storming Heaven. By incorporating factual events collected by oral histories the author set a realistic tone to the novel. The characters in Storming Heaven were also based on real people from the true events that happened during mine unionization. The development of the plot truly benefitted from the combination of factual and fictional elements.
Alex was taken to a boxing arena by the Snakehead and is made to fight in the arena against the best fighter and eventually beats him which causes a huge commotion and eventually a riot. He quickly escapes using his skills that he has learned in the field during previous missions. He did not realize it but someone had also help start the riot to make a diversion for him to escape. It was a member of MI6 which is the organization that normally hires Alex to spy out of London, England. They have gotten wind of the bomb “Royal Blue”, and have tied it to Winston Yu. They give him a few special gadgets that
I am reading by Alex Rider Skeleton Key and I am on page 113. This book is about a young teenage spy who was not given a choice he was forced into the spy industry. This young man is still gaining the skills he needs to be successful in his line of work. His employer sends him on dangerous missions where he is almost killed by a trained assassin. He is then sent on another mission which he is just supposed to be a cover for a observing crew from the CIA.

A teenage spy going on deadly missions because of the death of a family member, this is the beginning of two books titled Joshua Files by M.G Harris and Stormbreaker by Anthony Horowitz. Both books have similarities between them, especially the main characters. In the book Joshua Files there is a teenager named Joshua, his dad dies. In Stormbreaker the main character named Alex RIder, is also a teenager and his uncle dies. An example is when Alex Rider was living his normal life with his uncle and a friend named Jackie until he was told by the police that his uncle died. ”Driving home, his car had been hit by a truck at Old Street roundabout and he had been killed almost instantly.”(3) This changes his life, as the death of Joshua’s father
In the story, a few important interactions between Alex and other characters are. When during the ending of the first book Alex finally meets Yassen Gregorovich but in their encounter, Yassen tells Alex to go back to his normal life because he doesn’t have any need or order to kill a child. Furthermore, another interaction between Alex and another character is when Alex trusts that Nadia Vole is working for MI6 but as he gets pulled deeper into the lie she tricks him into falling among the tank of the very deadly Jellyfish (Portuguese man of war.)
Alex is a very quiet person, he really only talks to his family and friends. Alex has explored from one corner of the U.S. to another. He has traveled to New York, Chicago, California, and Orlando. He has also flewen in a open cockpit biplane with a astronaut. He hopes to one day become a architect.
In Stormbreaker, by Anthony Horowitz, Alex Rider, a British schoolboy learns the truth about his uncle, Ian Rider. Alex’s parents died when he was very young and his uncle Ian had looked after him ever since. One day Ian mysteriously dies in a fatal car crash. Alex soon learns that his uncle was not a banker but a spy, working for a secret service, MI6. The criminals Yassen Gregorovich and Darrius Sayle have teamed up to create a computer with an infectious virus, The Stormbreaker, in hopes of wiping out millions of British children.
I have interviewed others for their opinion on Team Storm and here are their opinions; Savannah Reynolds says, “I think that team storm works hard to accomplish anything”. “ I think that they are a very good team.” spoke PJ Cadwell. Kyla Wilson had her opinion on this topic and she says, “I think they used to be a really good team last year but i am not sure about this year.” Alyssa Miller adds, “I think team storm is pretty cool”.
Kate Chopin was an American author who wrote the short story “The Storm”. It takes place somewhere down in Louisiana at a general store and at the house of Calixta, Bobinot who is the wife of Calixta, and their son Bibi. The other character in the story is the friend of Calixta, Alcee Laballiere. The story begins with Bobinot and Bibi in the general store to buy a can of shrimp; meanwhile, at home, Calixta is at home doing chores when a storm develops, which makes her worry about Bobinot and Bibi arriving home safely. As Calixta’s friend arrives to talk with her, but the friend has an intimate thought about her from their earlier years. He then starts to flirt with Calixta, which leads to passionate lovemaking. She then realizes from their love affair that it is ok to be open sexually and freely. Some scholars believe that “The Storm” invokes many daring and passionate sex qualities, while others say it is politically incorrect for the time period. However, I will argue that “The Storm” outlines Kate Chopin’s life, both through her amour and through the location and time. I will do this by writing from a biographical criticism perspective along with analyzing what other scholars said about the story and whether it strengthens or enfeebles my belief.
