My opinion of story-linking by the author, Wimberly was a great fill with information about the African American Christian education and connecting God and the community. The story –linking process was and is very empowering for me. The story linking process is a way to link persons’ everyday life with the Christian Scripture.
The” personal” definition of Christian education for me is being introduce to Christ and who He is. It is the process of spiritual formation and maturity over a process of time through character development and discipleship and the study of the scriptures.
The impact this course have had on me as I prepare for ministry in the 21st century have help me to understand God’s eternal purposes, and His means of carrying them
Aside from my role with the All Nations Leadership Institute, I am an assistant pastor with the Lighthouse Church of All Nations. Though I involve myself in multiple facets of pastoral leadership, these do not meet all my educational needs. There is a need in this season for systematic and hierarchical learning in theology and ministry that is vital to my pastoral growth and development. Further, I want to focus on nurturing habits of mind for scriptural scholarship: inquiry, analysis, research and reflection. Enrolling and participating in a formal learning environment would meet this need and give me the push towards a higher level of knowledge.
The church’s ministry on teaching and learning is simultaneously a simple and complex ministry. It is a ministry that is potentially misunderstood more often than it is understood in the life of a congregation. As the congregation struggles to combine secular life with spiritual practice, the vision for the teaching and learning ministry of the church can fall out of focus for those who feel called to this ministry’s vocations. To begin, I will define the teaching and learning ministry of the church as I understand it followed by an elaboration of its definition. Lastly, I will discuss a few implications of this ministry as it applies to a congregation.
The books that we were required to read for Bible 115 class were Engaging God’s World – A Christian Vision Of Faith, Learning And Living by Cornelius Plantinga Jr. and The Call – Finding And Fulfilling The Central Purpose For Your Life by Os Guinness. Both books offered very useful advice for today’s Christians. Engaging God’s World is written for students and will help them make sense of their education in a Christian perspective. Both authors use scripture, humor and common sense to validate their points.

How, then, can we teach others about someone we do not know for ourselves? Christian education is a way on can learn from educators who have given of themselves and dedicated their lives to edify and build others up so that the Gospel would be understood correctly. This begins with a solid foundation, a foundation built upon the Rock, that Rock is Jesus Christ.
This course has impacted me tremendously. Many pre-conceived notions of missions and methodology of fulfilling the Great commission have changed. The Great Commission, found in Matthew 28:16-20 contain Jesus’ final words to His disciples. He told them, “Therefore, go and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit. Teach these new disciples to obey all the commands I have given you. And be sure of this: I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” Before taking this course, I never understood the concept of the “nations” being people groups. I always thought of them as geo-political divisions. I can actually perceive many different people groups in my neighborhood, and now understand that even though they live in America, they do not relate the same way as other Americans. This is due to their cultural and ethnical background among other
Having spent four years at Garrett- Evangelical, I have been introduced to different kinds of theologies. My theological education has broadened my whole concept about understanding theology. It has resonated with me at different times for
Since a young age I have been passionate about ministry, and I have seen God place experiences in my life such as going on mission trips, leading a youth group and working with children. Now I hope to see God continue to form my experience to disciple others and understand their culture as I anticipate going into the mission field one day. I anticipate attending Moody to assist me in achieving a foundational background to nurture, love and disciple people through their spiritual walk in a tangible way that is understood. I believe Moody will help me reach this goal by giving me a biblical education to understand not just the Bible, but people as well as I teach and gain experience to fulfill God’s plan in my life for His glory. As Romans 12:3-8
Graduates of this degree program will be able to rationally and honestly defend the Christian faith in a ministry context. A Church history concentration studies the development and transformation of Christian theology, classical values, branch reformation and cultural trends. This degree is well-suited for academics and lay ministry staff. A ministry specialization prepares students for careers as pastoral leaders and congregational
This course has pointed me to a prayer that seems to help me in my everyday activities when it comes to evangelism:
The author, John Piper, is a retired pastor, author, and theologian. Piper wants his readers to know that the goal of preaching is the glory of God (21). Piper also states that the ground of preaching is the cross of Christ, and the gift of preaching comes from the power of the Holy Spirit (23). Piper accomplishes his goal within both parts of the book. Part one is dedicated to why God should be supreme in preaching, and part two is how to make God supreme in preaching. This a great book for students, pastors, and those within the church. Piper reminds his audience that God is the focus of preaching and nothing else. This review will summarize, review, and critique the work while providing a conclusion.
For Christians, education is part of the processes they go through with an end of fulfilling their God-given purpose. On the metaphysical aspect of it, Christians also believe that God is the source of all
I have learned so much this semester in every aspect and skill that involves leading worship. This class has made me a better leader and improve overall in what leading worship looks like. I am glad that I decided to take this class because it has also helped me understand how important worship is for everyone’s relationship with God. This
Christian education is the way and the light that will lead and guide students to reach their God given potentials to the fullest, which they will make use of to serve and satisfy God’s plans and purposes in the world. Furthermore, Christian education redefines and realigns human perspectives and philosophies, from such self -serving expression to a full trust in God and His will, that God’s Word is the bedrock of truth. Hence, God’s authoritative truth provides the absolute answers of the Big things of life, such as the following: Who am I?, What am I?, When and where am I?, How am I?, Why am
This class or course has provided a standard lesson on wide range issues concerning theology. Many topics were raised during the during of this course, but there are three main things that have inspired me through the duration of this class. They are meaning of evangelicalism, the destiny of the unevangelized and African theology.
