In Story of Your Life by Ted Chiang, the story bounces between the women’s personal life talking about losing her daughter to describing her work with aliens. I think this story provided a weird but unique perspective on creativity. Throughout the story, the author provides a clear description of what kind of person the main character, Louise is. The main character is outlined as a creative and hardworking individual not only as a mom but a doctor too. This story gives a unique example and outline of creativity, because it is actually telling a story not just stating facts.
Throughout the story, she is constantly the person thinking outside of the box and figuring out ways to communicate with the aliens. She also learning to respect them and their language unlike the military officers in the story. While reading this story, I noticed some trends that reminded me of another article we had read previously in class. In one of our first classes, we read an article, Creative Personality that listed ten qualities that a creative person displays. Louise displayed almost of these characteristics of creativity that were outlined in the article. A creative person as described in the previous article is someone that can work long hours, with great concentration, while projecting an aura of

Reading about Louise’s work and her personal life really showed how passionate she was about her life and job. She never gave up on the aliens or their language when things get tough. She even admitted that they had changed the way she thought about things. I think that sentence in the article was critical in understanding creativity. In order to be creative, you have to open your mind and open to new ideas and situations. I think this is exactly what this story did. It gave a very unique and bizarre story that hidden in between the lines was a very good example of a creative
S. I. Hayakawa wrote and published an article named "What lt Means to Be Creative". This article challenged how a creative person could be defined and identified. In Hayakawa’s essay he presents several points of view an individual could be characterized as being creative. His writing forces you to contemplate on how a person’s aptitudes are categorized. Hayakawa tests your ability to be opened minded and makes you visualize how a person could be described as a creative individual but may discredited themselves due to society’s standard of this word. After reading his writing, I believe I can summarize his analogy.
Marie Pinschmidt, the author of Life Interrupted does a beautiful job of writing a memoir of her husband. She chooses to divide the book into three different sections. She starts by explaining her daily routine with a feeling that something was wrong. Marie begins telling her ordeal of her husband being hospitalized and the thoughts that were invading her mind. The author swiftly transitions to the past and describes how she came to meet Norm, her husband. At least half of the book focuses on the life that they built together. Marie opens the doors of her heart and lets us see a glimpse of the struggles, victories and happiness that encompassed her marriage. The last part of the book focuses on the decline of Norm’s health and the struggle that the author faces after losing her beloved husband.
The person I choose for my Creative Person Case Study is Casey Neistat. Casey is one the most creative people I have met and watched. He makes things out the ordinary and is different. He is always about being himself and not caring what others think. I wish to be more like him. Casey has really made want to go out and explore the world. He is always about doing spontaneous things. If there is one thing I learned from is that you should not wait for things to come to you. You have to work hard and work even harder.
The first framework, Creative Contexts finds itself within Teresa Amabile’s theories. Amabile’s definition of creativity is ‘A product or response is creative to the extent that appropriate observers independently agree it is creative.’ (Amabile 1983, cited in Taylor and Turner 2016). Although Amabile too believes that certain people are born with certain talents, she also believes that creativity can be ‘encouraged and fostered’ (Taylor and Turner 2016b) Amabile has also distinguished
The first thing that comes to our minds when we think of “creativity” is things that have to do with arts. This is not true. Being creativity and having creativity can also be used in many activities or professions such as in businesses, creating a sport team, and in any other things you name it. Robinson has taught this through his book, “Out of Our Minds” but also how writers and artist see the world a little different compared to how others, scientists, mathematicians, historians, and psychologists look at the world. Also how educations and ageing plays a role in our creativity.

Tharp claims that everyone has “creative DNA”, a combination of our key experiences and natural born skills that add up to diverse sources for creativity for each person. It shows up in different ways, and notably in the distance from which
Kaufman and Beghetto (2014) further suggest that creativity can be fostered in children to a certain extent by providing them with opportunities to express their own unique ideas.
Ashton Bellamy Ms. Wilson AP English III 29 September 2014 American Creativity Thesis The American creativity has slowly declined in the past few years due to the technological advances which have made life more convenient and also less demanding on people, which is a complete shift from the way the early peoples who came to America. The earliest American settlers would have approached situations and tasks differently because encountering challenging situations needed a logical answer to counteract the situation. Creativity can affect many aspects of one’s life, including their government, religion, as well as shaping the demographics of the country, and has nestled itself in society.
What a pearl of wisdom this is. It applies to everyone, but particularly to writers. We storytellers create places, people and events that we hope will somehow resonate with our readers. Achieving this is no small task. It requires more than talent and skill. It requires us to live a life in balance.
Personality – the ability to speak to people on a visceral level – is what makes someone special. When people think about creativity, words such as originality come to mind. Because creativity ultimately is the capability to outperform the past and its accomplishments, there is nothing more original than someone's own personal existence, thought, and history. In my own life, I wrote a one act play titled The Usual Tension that dealt with the conflict within ourselves between our self-confidence and apprehension. The play was based off a personal experience involving myself and a girl who I had a relationship with throughout my sophomore year of high school. To look at creativity at a much more broader scale, Kanye West's album My Beautiful
Lu Xun’s story “Diary of a Madman” serves to demonstrate his discontent with traditional Chinese cultural, not only by the fact that it clearly addresses the incidence of cannibalism that is believed to have occurred but also symbolizes the oppressive nature of Confucian principles.Lu Xun’s madman has the ability to recognize the oppressive elements of Chinese Confucian culture serves to mock established but out-dated traditional scholarship and symbolizes the greater wisdom of cultural reform, especially as it is advanced by modern intellectuals of the period.
Creative intelligence is an innate characteristic with which we are born; this is an aspect in the development of our mental
Throughout this creative arts class, I have learned much about creativity and how it fits in our world around us. I see myself as creative person and am so thankful that I understand and appreciate God’s gift of creativity given to us. We are to use our creativity to glorify God in all that we do. I appreciate all of God’s creation and use it to be more creative. My views of creativity have changed by learning more about how creativity has been valued over time in our cultures. Creativity is essential for sustainability in the future. I believe that creativity will continue to change over time. Werner (2000) sums this up, “I believe that as our lives and our global ideology of creativity evolve, we will acknowledge more clearly both how much lies beyond creativity, and how creativity is our human drive toward the beyond” (p. 270).
According to the ethnographic approach defined by Papen and Tusting (2006, p.312-359), creativity refers the production of something ‘new’ and ‘original’. In written language, creativeness should not be perceived as a decontextualised, individual activity or as being entirely shaped by context. It should be seen as being dependent on and emergent from the creative literacy practices through which texts are constructed because they are shaped by people, who in pursuit of their own
