Everyone has a different personality that he/she only recognizes the surface without having a deep understanding. This is because they do not know their personality is their strength. The earlier we discover our talent, the more time we will have to invest and develop our strengths. Strengths enable us to build our confidence, direction and hope in order to pursue the right path. If we know our strength, we will have the passion and interest to work on it and move forward. The biggest problem is most of the people unaware of, or unable to describe their own strengths. Therefore, we need a tool that can help us to figure out and pursue the right path. Based on the StrengthFinder 2.0 report, my top five themes are empathy, command, context,
Strengths Finder 2.0, an online test that proposes to find your talents best suited for development. Another personality test in a sea of others, Strengths Finder does little to distinguish itself. Through poor wording, ambiguity, and no fact checks available, Strengths Finder 2.0 does not seem to cross the finish line.
Strengths Finder 2.0 uses an online assessment to evaluate the individuals unique talents by having the taker rate how they view a particular question in 20 seconds or less (Rath, 2007). After taking the assessment, my five strengths were determined to be achiever, maximizer, input, arranger, and
The Strengths Finder is an assessment that measures your real talents. Knowing your best skills and investing time on practicing and developing those talents are the two main ingredients to building and improve your true strengths and
In Pathfinder, Rigg, the main character, finds his father, the only relative that he had ever met, dying while they were trapping animals. As Rigg’s father dies, he tells Rigg to find his sister in the city of Aressa Sessamo. As Rigg and his childhood friend Umbo journey off to Aressa Sessamo, they face multiple conflicts and problems. Orson Scott Card’s use of Rigg’s and Umbo’s hamartias sets up the problem and raises the stakes. In particular, the author uses Rigg’s inflexible loyalty to his companions and Umbo’ s ignorance of the world to raise the stakes of them being captured or killed.
After taking the StrengthsFinder survey, I was surprised at what I found in some instances. This survey was actually the most accurate of any quiz I have taken previously when describing my strengths and it even nailed many of my personality traits. According to the StrengthsFinder survey, my top five themes, or strengths are Learner Maximizer, Arranger, Responsibility, and Developer (Gallup, 2012).
The Strengths Finder test measures the presence of 34 talent themes. Talents are people’s naturally recurring patterns of thought, feeling, or behavior that can be productively applied. The more dominant a theme is in a person, the greater the theme’s impact on that person’s behavior and performance. Getting employees together with varied strengths would seem like a tough task but with a great training tool in place, I think the outcome would be great. The strengths are what makes each employee unique and shows their talents.
The assessment did a good job in finding my strengths and my personality. My Developer Theme says, “People who are especially talented in the Developer theme recognize and cultivate the potential in others. They spot the signs of each small improvement and derive satisfaction from these improvements”.1 This is the same as my observation that I like to teach others and I do get enjoyment when I know they have learned what I taught them.
Use of a strength based approach in developmental science would focus on an individual’s existing capabilities and knowledge. The potential of an individual would be emphasized rather than their deficits. In development science this approach may require a paradigm shift in the way development is studied. Research would focus on an individual’s strength in development, and how these strengths could be built on to foster development. It also would examine how to enhance an individual’s existing strengths throughout the development process, rather than if the individual has meet a predetermined development “milestone”. An example in school psychology would be an Individual Family Service Plan. An IFSP focuses on strengths a child may have developed,
(HOOK) Characters have a substantial relationship with their readers and can significantly impact and galvanize them through inspiration by conjuring up powerful messages and meanings. (CI) Throughout the course of short stories I read, there were multiple essential characters who I relate to in my everyday life. (GS1) As I read “The Rules of the Game,” the protagonist Waverly, holds a special place in my heart because we share some similarities that ultimately relate to me. (GS2) Meanwhile, Doodle’s brother in “The Scarlet Ibis” is another character who I fervently feel connected to based on qualities that resemble me. (GS3) My last and final character is Dr. Jenkins, who is in the “The Portable Phonograph” and also relates to me in a special
As I have mentioned above, that achiever, strategic, learner, belief, and responsibility are my top five themes as revealed by StrengthsFinder. I was astounded and amazed after reading the detail description of my personal five themes, because these are the most consistent behaviors that I display in my daily personal and professional life. I think this assessment is reliable and trustworthy, because the result provided on the bases of my responses drew an accurate picture of my strengths.
The following are my top five strengths from the VIA Survey of Character Strengths: (1) Humor and playfulness, (2) Gratitude, (3) Capacity to love and be loved, (4) Curiosity and interest in the world, and (5) Kindness and generosity. I was not surprised by my top five strengths. In fact, I consciously identified similar strengths during one of the IPE modules assigned this semester. I believe that these five strengths are derived, shaped, and reinforced by my life experiences, my education, the people around me, and the way I was raised.
The story of Beth Elliott’s life in the movie, Stronger, is a heart wrenching tale of an incredibly talented musician with deep-seated issues of depression. The movie’s title was taken from her first hit song she wrote and recorded. Elliott’s life from the very start was surrounded in music. In the beginning of the film she is shown at the age of two, giggling and happily performing songs she had made up to entertain her family during a long car ride. As both her parents were musically inclined, it is no wonder she possessed such a natural talent and love for music.
For me, recognizing personal strengths and weaknesses is key to being a successful person. If I realize I have a weakness in a certain area of my life, I will work to improve myself in that area. I consider this personal attribute of mine strength. I also use my personal strengths to improve myself in the areas where I am
When it comes to who I am in my career, a few of my strengths shine through more than others. For example, I put everything I have in to my work and into my career, and looking back at how I’ve worked in the past compared to now, I see my strengths restorative and developer.
Knowing your strengths and weaknesses, being aware of yourself helps exploit your strengths and cope with your weaknesses. Like looking at the broader picture, but can’t pay attention on much on details. Is good you talk to colleagues and subordinates that are more detail-oriented when making major decisions.
