This report gives an insight to how company’s use recruitment and selection in 2014 to find new employees. It also describes the different methods that company’s use for recruitment and for selection. In 2014 companies are continuing to progress and are trying to find the best way to recruit new staff members that will not be too costly for the company.

Disadvantages of internal sourcing:
• Internal sourcing limits the number of applicants applying of the job vacancy.
• No new ideas can be introduced from outside the company.
• It may cause resentment in the company from candidates that did not receive the position.
• It also creates another vacancy in the company that needs to be filled.

External Sourcing
External sourcing is a method of recruitment that recruits candidates through external recruitment tools, such as job boards, newspaper advertisements, networks, job portals, etc. This method favours bringing in job candidates that may or may not have direct experience into a company. External sourcing is also used when the open position is not able to be filled by a current employee because of the technicality or specialty of the position. This will have a great impact on the results. The company must ask what type of person they are trying to recruit and what they are trying to fulfil in the company. A good place to get this answer is to ask existing employees in the company where they would look for adverts for a job offer if they were looking for one and what they would be looking for specifically in the advert.
