Introduction The Indiana Army National Guard was officially established in 1846 in support of the Mexican-American War and has been present at every military engagement since. There are three primary units that make up the Indiana Army National Guard: the 38th Infantry Division, the 219th Battlefield Surveillance Brigade, and the 76th Infantry Brigade Combat Team. In total, there are over 12,000 soldiers serving the great state of Indiana in every Military Occupational Skill (MOS) available. In addition, there are two major units in the Air National Guard that serve the state in a

If the economy is weak, such as it is now, more people look to the military for employment. Second, the Army has been tasked to reduce its force by nearly 50,000. Simply put, no new bodies are needed so only the best are accepted. Unfortunately, the number of recruiters or their assigned mission has not changed in the last seven years. There is the same number of recruiters in the field today as there was in 2005. They have to put in the same number of people today as they did in 2005. One does not need an advanced degree to see the difficulties in this undertaking.

Retrieved August 10, 2012, from http://www.lexisnexis.com.proxy.devry.edu/hottopics/lnacademic/. Unfortunately, impossible tasks lead some people to do unspeakable or illegal things. The National Guard has a program that helps the every-day soldier earn some money by recruiting an individual. Each person they bring in earns them $2,000.00. Recruiters and those in the Recruiting Command are ineligible for this program. This report discusses what happens when the line is crossed. From the moment the program was implemented, there were problems. It is very difficult to catch those who act unethical. Although these individuals were caught, many are not. While in the command, I witnessed this firsthand several times. One of the
Thesis Statement: Military recruiters are vicious and go into places where young adults are easy targets and take advantage of them.
The most hardworking people are usually the least recognized. They are generally the least paid as well. There must be some sort of incentive for them to continually work so hard. The United States Army has been the underdogs of the military branch. The United States Army is probably the hardest working branch of the military, but also the least sought after. To the general public they are not considered to be at the top of the spectrum amongst the other branches of military. The government has helped in creating a bias within the branches of military by making the standards to get into the military so low compared to some of the other branches. The Army should be considered the “People’s Army.”
As I’m sure you know, military recruitment in high schools has been a hot topic ever since the No Child Left Behind Act passed in 2001. According to the NCLB, all high schools that receive government funding must “provide military recruiters the same access to secondary school students as is provided generally to post secondary educational institutions or to prospective employers of those students” (No Child Left Behind Act of 2001). And unfortunately, any school that refuses this puts their funding in jeopardy. Yet many still strongly disagree with this mandate and want it revoked, begging the question: Is there a way to regulate this type of recruitment without eliminating it completely? Moms and Dads, I’m writing this letter because we need
The United States Army consists of 2.2 million brave men and women who work hard every single day in defending our country. They fight everyday to protect us and our freedoms. In today’s society, each man and woman make the personal decision to join the military, nobody forces them to. Some have argued that the United States needs to bring back the Draft to increase the number of people serving in the military. There are others who oppose it.
Throughout military history, the government quickly downsizes its army to its bare minimum after conflicts, usually within five years, due to budgeting issues. According to Mary Ann Evans, the author of Downsizing In The U.S. Army: Common
In studying the effects of Post-traumatic stress disorder in veterans, I learned that the actions of war cause many service men and women to change. The change comes because the US military trains people to kill but they don’t want to help them fit back into society. This causes veterans to have symptoms such aggression, irritability, and hostility. Which is why I feel that people who have killed in the military came in with the mentality that they were going to help people, but instead they go overseas to kill and ruin innocent people’s lives. That causes them to have feelings of guilt because people are told to look at our service men and women as heroes but inside they see themselves as monsters. There are cases of this happening in every
There are now many programs available to facilitate veterans who have been injured or are suffering from post traumatic stress. In the past, men would return home from wars as shells of their former selves. Loud sounds could trigger painful memories of combat and send the sufferer into a spiral of panic. Some were extremely sensitive to such things as loud noises, bright lights, certain phrases, or some daily activities. Others still were just empty husks, only living in a numb depression due to the things they have witnessed or done. There was nothing to be done with these people except force them to continue living as they had been or putting them in asylums. Now, though many men and women are still returning home injured, either mentally
In this letter written by then student of the University of Arkansas, William Jefferson Clinton, addresses his ROTC officer, Col. Eugene Holmes, about his army draft induction. Clinton openly thanks Col. Holmes for ‘saving’ him from the draft and admitted he may have been deceptive about the depth of his anti-war beliefs when he enrolled in the program. Clinton did what he could, quite cleverly one might add, at avoiding the draft with clear ulterior motives. As a primary document, it is important to recognize the basic identifications of this letter and analyze the authors intent.
Suicide is a very unforgivable action. A survey in 2011 showed that 1,400,685 people in Canada were known as first nations. Many people have used suicide to get out of hard times in their lives or escape pain, like when a person is in poverty and has nothing to consume. A
Soldiers are in the spot light way to much these days, from a recruiter at a local school to a Soldier in Iraq. The nation trust’s these Soldiers to defend her against all enemies, both foreign and domestic. With this trust comes added responsibility and scrutiny from the media. The Army is aware of this and takes great measures to combat any disloyal acts from happening with in its ranks. To ensure Soldiers are fit for duty the Army has incorporated an extensive drug testing program for their warriors. “In doing this it helps keep the fight going and our Soldiers out of the limelight”, said by the Sergeant Major of the Army Kenneth Preston.

This comes after 5 recruiters were killed at a recruitment center on July 16th in Chattanooga, Tennessee. So, both Arthur and Ashton know that they need to fight for what they feel is right, even if others don’t like
A research study by Phillip Quartana, a research psychologist at the Walter Reed Army Institute of Research in Silver Spring, Maryland. After war in Afghanistan started in 2001, and the invasion of Iraq in 2003. Both conflicts have had a an actual impact on soldiers' mental health. According to several studies, one in four active infantry soldiers met the standard criteria for PTSD or major depression, according to background research study. The study, published online July 17 in the American Journal of Public Health, used data from surveys of active duty Military personnel conducted between 2002 and 2011. As a result, a majority of soldiers who used mental health services in 2011 were approximately about 15 percent, the study found. Similarly,
If you had to go into the military, why would you do it? For the money and the benefits, or to be a proud American and serve our country? There are many people who go into the military to do bare minimum as long as they receive their benefits, including free college tuition. Then there are types of people who join because they want to do well for America. The military should only consist of people who want to be patriotic to their country rather than use the government for their benefits and money. Better soldiers come from ones that are motivated to serve and protect our country. We need to have a military for the sake of safety and being protected from terrorists, other countries, and for humanitarian reasons. There is a problem with the military not paying much attention to quantity versus quality. The military is too big for the jobs that they have. It needs to consist of better quality soldiers instead of focusing on have the world’s largest military. A lot goes into recruitment as well, but maybe not enough. The different motives of soldiers play a role on the outcome of them in the end, and what makes them the best for that position. Different recruitment methods could give the military better quality soldiers. Depending on the people’s motives, you can have lazy soldiers, or soldiers that will give it their all. Recruitment can weed out the lazy soldiers and give America better quality soldiers.
4) Is there a bigger number of accentuation on enlistment than on offering the item or administration? Keep in mind, the contrast between multilevel promoting and a fraudulent business model is in the core interest. The fraudulent business model spotlights on quick benefits from marking individuals up and getting their cash. On the off chance that enrollment is by all accounts the center of the arrangement, run.
