In the case of Shahine vs. Louisiana State University Medical Center, the plaintiff Ms. Shahine experienced right ulnar nerve damage following a right total hip arthroplasty. She filed suit against the University Medical Center and her anesthesiologist, Dr. W for medical malpractice and requested the court to infer negligence under the doctrine of res ipsa loquitur. Dr. W was fully responsible for Ms. Shahine’s care while she was under anesthesia and Ms. Shahine obviously could not assess the true cause of injury while she was anesthetized. However, Dr. W provided evidence of non-negligence by thoroughly charting in Ms. Shahine’s medical record proper positioning and padding. Another anesthesiologist provided the court with uncontroverted

Once, i finish my basic classes at the Alamo Colleges I wish to futher my education by attending the University of Texas
In case any of you did not receive my email, the Pre-Med Club will be attending the MEDLife conference at the University of Pennsylvania on Saturday, Feb. 27th at 10am until 3pm. The conference is a great networking opportunity where physicians, medical students, and pre-medical students alike will be discussing the issues of global and local health disparities. If you want to take advantage of this opportunity (and see what is ranked the 8th best hospital and medical college in the United States), you must register BEFORE HAND. As future physicians, it is important to take initiative and personal interest in the medical field as a whole, not simply just "getting into medical school." It is opportunities like this that will build on your knowledge
Maggie Gill started her career with Memorial University Medical Center (MUMC) in 2004 as the VP of managed care and finance. In 2005, she became MUMC's COO, and then in 2011, she was named CEO and president by the board of directors, once they realized that the ideal candidate for the position, one who had experience in both finance and operations, was already employed by the health care facility.
I am interested in Emory’s School of Medicine MD program mainly impart to their commitment to train physicians to serve the community. I believe community involvement as a physician is key to diminish health inequalities where they initially develop. In addition, Emory’s emphasis towards understanding the biopsychosocial conditions of each patient will be vital in honing in on an accurate diagnosis and tailoring my approach as a physician to accommodate these factors while meeting their needs.
Gifts are things (whether that money or have a value of money) giving in the workplace with a value of $10 or greater.
A Marketing strategy is necessary to develop and implement for all health care organizations. Rush University Medical Center in Chicago learned this lesson in the most difficult circumstances. The leadership assumed the reputation of the facility would be enough to stand up against all other health care facilities in the surrounding area; supplementary publicity or lobbying was necessary. As time passed on, it was very obvious by the drastic decrease in patient census and revenue that something had to change. The implementation of an environmental scan in that particular instance would greatly influence the facility in a positive manner. It is an approach that assists in the process of identifying and recognizing all the marketing elements involved. The first step of the environmental scan is an assessment of the five major environmental forces and trends. Next, evaluate the potential impact on the organization’s target market and adjust the organizations marketing mix strategy as appropriate (Berkowitz, 2011).
“A picture is worth a thousand words.” - Ed Catlett. The story named, “A Wrinkle in Time,” is about a girl named Meg, who is a little different and unique compared to everyone else. Her father gets lost in the universe while trying to prove a method called “tessering.” And she goes out to find him and bring him home using some friends. This story is more powerful when seen in the movie format because you see and understand how and why she felt bad about herself more than the book, what she went through to save her father, and also many differences between the two making the movie better.
Dedication and a Plan are two components needed to achieve my ultimate goals and hit milestones throughout my years at Texas A&M International University. However, growing up in a large household of six people with only one source of income is extremely difficult due to other expenses they are responsible to pay and the increasing amount of pressure my parents face every day will, unfortunately, become detrimental. Furthermore, my older sister is currently attending university but with a small amount of help from my parents who scrape up however much money they can. Moreover, both of my parents will not be able to help me pay for my college tuition for they are balancing a tremendous amount of bills to relieve themselves from an overwhelming
Rush Medical College is located in an urban area which serves a diverse population. I would join the Latino Medical Student Association to increase my support during medical school and to also network with other students with similar interests. The opportunities for volunteering in underserved communities at RMC such as the RCSIP would allow to me to utilize the skills and knowledge gained in medical school to serve the healthcare needs of the underserved in Chicago. My interests in this program stems from my multicultural background. Although I am both Mexican and Polish, I identify with my Mexican culture more due to being raised throughout the majority of my life in southwest Chicago. The experiences and opportunities I was afforded during
As a first-year student at York University, I was not aware that the distribution of single-use water bottle was prohibited on campus until recently. After conducting some research, I found that York University is one of many institutions that do not sell any water bottles. Furthermore, I found that the reason behind this ban is because York University made a commitment in supporting the human right to water and also because York is aiming to become a more sustainable university. With humans causing more harm to the environment than ever before, York university is trying to make a difference before it is too late. The removal of single-use water bottle on campus has raised the question of whether or not water bottles can be sold on campus
Central to nearly every discussion about the progress and advancement that the United States has collectively enjoyed has been a question about the value and worth of human labor. Undoubtedly, one for the most resounding truths for the United States has been that the country has managed to find a dominant global status and domestic success due to the contributions of its citizens. Science, education, art, and all other industries have flourished due to the efforts of hundreds of people hailing from different backgrounds. Yet despite this historical precedent establishing the need for valuing the contributions of others, there continues to be a resounding national dismissal
I think the UMKC (University of Missouri - Kansas City) School of Medicine is the right school for me. It has a lot of classes that I can take for medicine. There is only one thing left that I have to do for College at UMKC is that I need my CNA license so that I can help at the Nursing Home in Rockville, Indiana. The University of Missouri-Kansas City has many different offerings to incoming freshman and upperclassmen, from a numerous amount of educational degrees and scholarships to a number of other factors for people to take into consideration when choosing a college best fit to them. Vincent Van Gogh’s “The Starry Night” depicts the swirling and turbulent light of the night sky over a dark almost deathly country village, reflecting Van Gogh’s inner struggles with his mental demons, illness and thoughts of what was beyond life. The painting was created in June of 1889, towards the end of his life, during his stay at the Asylum of Saint-Remy. Suffering from declining health and mental instability, the peaceful regimen of the sanatorium served as a period of personal reflection and inspiration for many of his greatest works. One such work, ,“The Starry Night”, thought by many to be his single greatest work he deemed a failure. In a letter to his brother Theo he once remarked that “All in all the only things I consider a little good in it are the Wheatfield, the Mountain, the Orchard, the Olive trees with the blue hills and the Portrait and the Entrance to the quarry, and the rest says nothing to me” (Van Gogh 853). While he may have only sold two paintings in his lifetime he was well reviewed by Albert Aurier a fellow artist and art critic. He wrote that Van Gogh “perceives the coloration of things with such intensity, with such a metallic, gem-like quality, his work as intense and feverish, his brushstrokes as fiery, very powerful, his palette as dazzling, and said his technique matched his artistic temperament: vigorous and intense”( Les Isolés: Vincent van Gogh).
