The topic of my second disease diary is stroke. The reason, why I have chosen this topic is, because I have also witnessed how a member of my family suffered from a stroke.
In the following report I will talk about the characteristic of stroke, the causes and symptoms, the treatment of the disorder and how the relationship is to other body systems.
Stroke, also called cerebrovascular accident (CVA), cerebrovascular insult (CVI) or brain attack, is the sudden loss of brain function. The most common stroke occurs when the blood flow to the brain is blocked by a clot. When a blockage occurs, the brain supply of oxygen and nutrients is interrupted. If the blockage lasts more than a few minutes, permanent brain damage can occur. Another type of
Module 7 Discussion Board Assignment ________________________________________ Instructions: Answer the discussion board question below. Your post must be well thought out and supported using research, outcome data, concepts of physiology and/or pathophysiology. You will need to use APA citations and provide references in APA format at the end of each of your posts. All posts should be related to course content and science based. Review the etiology, risk factors, clinical manifestations and the pathophysiology of acute stroke and choose one key point which you believe is significant to your practice as a nurse practitioner and answer the following question.
The health issue that this artifact discusses is the significance of knowing and recognizing the warning signs of a stroke. The American Heart Association has made it their mission to provide unlimited health information and research in the hopes of eliminating cardiovascular diseases as well as helping society in maintaining a healthy lifestyle. “Stroke is the number 5 cause of death and a leading cause of
Stroke is a part of a cardiovascular disease that occurs when the supply of blood or oxygen to the brain is disrupted by a blockage in the artery or when there is usually a trauma that causes spontaneous bleeding in the brain (Duncan, Zorowitz & Lambert, 2005).
Cerebrovascular Accident or stroke is considered a cardiovascular disease. It is a blockage from either thrombosis or and embolism or hemorrhage in the vessels of the brain. They are mostly caused by an embolus -a small particle of a clot that has broken off and traveled up the carotid artery and lodges in a vessel in the brain. When this happens, oxygen is cut off to that part of the brain causing death of the surrounding tissue. (loffelur & Hart, 2015)
Strokes are also known as stroke. Are treated clinical pictures generated by the interruption or so sudden, the blood flow in a brain region. This leads to ischemia and loss of function that is responsible for that area of the brain.
First I feel that, it is important to understand the clinical manifestation of the different strokes. The Ischemic stroke can cause a wide range of neurologic symptoms depending on the location and the size of the effective area. Patients may present with symptoms, such as, numbness or weakness of the face, arms, legs, more so, one side of the body, changes in moody or behavior, trouble with speaking or understanding speech, visual disturbances, having difficulty in walking, dizziness or loss of balance and sudden server headaches. Hemorrhagic stroke has, also, presents with the same clinical manifestation as a Ischemic stroke, however, most patients complain of server headache.
The history of stroke began with Hippocrates, the father of medicine, who was the first one to recognized stroke more than 2,400 years ago. Back then they used to refer as apoplexy a Greek terms, which means “struck down by violent” because at that time they did not have an explanation for it .Century later, in mid-1600’s Jacob Wepfer discovered that something disrupted the blood supply in the brain of people who died from apoplexy. In some cases, the vvartery were blocked. In others, there had been massive bleeding into the brain tissue. After that there was no more progression in the history until 1928. Medical science continues to make advances concerning the causes, symptoms. There is a large amount of information available jon causes, prevention methods, risks and treatment of stroke.
This paper discusses the history of stokes and how strokes occurred in my family. I have research many articles and websites to find interesting information on strokes. I have also included my own opinions and thoughts about strokes. There are many factors that can create a higher risk of having a stroke. The paper discusses ways to prevent a person from having a stroke, and risk factors that can increase the risk of having a stroke.
Through this article, you can get more information about the stroke symptom. It is very useful because you can deal with the situations for yourself and people
Stroke is cerebral injury caused by acute cerebral circulatory disorder, is a kind of serious hazard to human health and life safety of common refractory disease, which is difficult to reverse once got. There are obvious three tenors (high incidence, high morbidity, high mortality) of it. According to statistics, my country's annual 2 million stroke patients, the incidence rate is as high as 120/10, of which 4.5 million patients with different degree of disability, and the life cannot provide for oneself, the morbidity of up to 75%, 1.2 million stroke patients die each year. Has had a stroke patients, but also easy to relapse again, every recurrence, caused Tremendous risk to human health and life, with great pain to the patient and created a heavy burden to family and society.
Stroke is one of the leading causes of long-term adult disability, affecting approximately 795,000 people each year in the U.S. The very word "stroke" indicates that no one is ever prepared for this sudden, often catastrophic event. Stroke survivors and their families can find workable solutions to most difficultsituations by approaching every problem with patience, ingenuity, perseverance and creativity. Early recovery and rehabilitation can improve functions and sometimes remarkable recoveries for someone who suffered a stroke.Rehabilitation starts in the hospital as soon as possible following a stroke. In patients who are stable, rehabilitation may begin within two days after the stroke has occurred, and should be continued as necessary
Introduction: Stroke is the third leading cause of death in the United States (US) and a leading cause of serious, long-term disability. Incidence of ischemic stroke is higher than hemorrhagic stroke.
“Stroke is leading cause of death and the major cause of adult neurological disability. In the USA, 795 000 stroke occur every year.” (name ) The proportion rises most strongly with age, therefore with the
Also while scribing, I met a patient who inspired me to start a stroke awareness campaign in my hometown. She had gone to sleep not knowing that she was having a stroke,
A stroke is the first physiological disorder I will be writing about. A stroke is a circulatory disorder which affects the brain. A stroke is a ‘brain attack’ which occurs when the blood supply is cut off from part of the brain. When you have a stroke in the left side of your brain, the right side of your body is affected, when you have a stroke in the right side of
