Goal: To establish what it means to be healthy by making students aware of keeping fit.Focus and Review: (Establish prior knowledge)To establish prior knowledge, I would verbally ask the students what they know about being physically fit. While waiting for a response, I will write the definition on the board and provide a few examples. After the discussion, I will hand out the book “Keeping Fit” and instruct the students to look at the cover and describe what they see. After a few responses, I will then provide feedback to prepare the students to begin reading collectively as a class. Statement: (Inform Students of Objectives) I would inform the students that today’s objective is to study what it means to be fit. I will accomplish this goal …show more content…
I will inform the students that we will be studying what physical fitness is and how it relates to living a healthy lifestyle.
Cook 2Teacher input: (Present Task, Information, and Guidance) I’m going to doI will orally prepare the students by analyzing the front cover of the book and eliciting student feedback. I will direct the students to open their book to page 6, and call on individual students to read out loud. After reading the material, I will follow by ask them three comprehension questions. These questions will allow me to lead the class room into discussion on the information presented. I will also address any vocabulary words in the chapter by writing the word and definition on the board. The three questions that will guide discussion are:1. What do you think being fit means?2. Do you think being fit is a good thing? Or bad?3. Are you as fit as you can be? In not what can you work on? After the comprehension questions, I will give the students a mental break
It is important to ensure that we meet the need of the students on every level. One effective way to do this is to observe, assess, and record children’s efforts and progress. In this way, an educator can prepare to help a child’s progression in the class. Being able to track and refer to the progress of a child helps to ensure greater levels of success. In the end, our program is only as successful as the children in our care. Record keeping can identify areas that need improvement, and allows us to teach to their strong points.
Attitudes: The audience more than likely feels some disdain for the topic of fitness. No one likes to be reminded that they're unfit and need to get active. With this in mind, I will create a positive attitude about fitness by taking the "work" out of workout and showing how easily attainable it is
Living a healthy lifestyle is a goal many individuals have and that could either be eating vigorous nutritious meals or being active outside in the world, going to the gym for instance. The condition of being physically fit and healthy is what fitness is. Not many people realize the importance of it until they can’t fit in their own jeans. Many individuals argue that there isn’t enough time for the gym or that there is no point in going because it can cause injury, but in reality, it’s all worth it after you realize the outcomes of working out and eating healthy. There is always time to make your life fit and healthier. In order to join this discourse community, a person must learn the typical ways people in that community interact and argue. I will demonstrate that I have entered this discourse community of fitness by obtaining necessary knowledge, establishing strong credibility, and learning to influence other members of the community to strive for more.
Alex informed the team I am going to sleep at night, but I have to wake up to early to catch the bus. Alex stated, “Mrs. Telisha has been giving me Melatonin to help with my sleep.” Alex’s foster mother shared with the team, “Alex have mood swings frequently.” “Alex commented, “I am ready to go home.” Alex’s foster mother reported, “Alex is very helpful; however, he continues to try to take care of the children.” Alex acknowledged, “I am proud of the progress I made, so I feel like services should end.” Alex’s listened as the QP shared it is important for him to have services when he return home in 3 months to address barriers and prevent a relapse. Alex has made minimal progress with stabilizing his mood, as indicated by Alex having mood swings while in his foster family’s house and getting adequate sleep and having a stable appetite.
The issue I have been exploring in my blog is childhood overweight and obesity. Overweight and obesity can be defined as abnormal or excessive fat accumulation that may impair health (World Health Organisation [WHO], 2006). BMI is a widely accepted measure used to determine overweight and obesity in children and adolescents. According to the Australian Government Department of Health website, BMI is determined by comparing calculated (weight/ height2) against the relevant age and sex of the child/adolescent (Department of Health, 2009). Centres for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) Growth Charts, often used in health care settings, are used to determine the corresponding BMI-for-age and sex percentile.
While working on this project I have learned that physical fitness does not come easy. It takes commitment, time, and will power. Without these you can’t obtain physical fitness or maintain it. Physical fitness is not easy to gain nor is it easy to keep it. If it was then everyone would do it, but those who stick to their plan will gain enormous rewards and their life will be significantly better.
You were encouraged to be more physically active. Explain the exercise program that you implemented in this course. Express your feelings about the outcomes of this program and how well you accomplished your fitness goals. In what ways did you add activity other
Core competencies are the most significant value creating skills within a company and key areas of expertise that are distinctive to a company and critical to the company's long-term growth. Core competencies are the pieces that a company is superior than its competitors in the critical, central areas of the company where the most value is added to its products. These areas of expertise may be in any area from product development to employee dedication. A competence which is central to business's operations but which is not exceptional in some way is not considered as a core competence, as it will not generate a differentiated advantage over rival businesses. It follows from the concept of core competencies; resources that are
I believe that physical education and health give a unique opportunity to the students to contribute to the overall well-being and student’s development. As a teacher I believe that the most important things that I can teach my students is a love to be physically active because i believe that physical ability will affect every aspect of student’s life including their mental health, academic achievement, self-esteem, social competency and ability to function well in any environment. The purpose of physical education and health class is to provide the concepts of health and skill related fitness in order to create the student with continuous physically active that can promote the development of life long movers. Physical education and health
Promoting excellent health can be a major outcome from making physical education apart of every child’s lifestyle. The student will learn at a young age how important staying fit and in shape is while taking those lessons with them and executing them later in life. It also advocates healthy eating and an improvement in lifestyle altogether. Bringing habits like these home can also affect the family. Encouraging the whole family to eat and exercise better can be a result from making physical education mandatory. Whether it be more family activities in the backyard, or taking a trip to skyzone to enjoy a day of flips, jumps and friendly dodgeball games, the whole family would have been inspired to become physically active. “Kids are getting fatter. Obesity rate over the last 30 years have more than quadrupled for children ages 6 to 11 and more than tripled for youths ages 12 to 19. Our children and youths are at risk for developing type 2 diabetes, heart disease, high blood pressure, high cholesterol and even asthma.”
Exercise is suitable for a students’ age, as well as their mental and physical capacity.
Incorporating physical activity for students every day is important for many reasons. Physical activity promotes emotional and mental health benefits. It also decreases the risk of obesity, high blood pressure, and heart disease. Health and educational professionals agree that physically active students perform better in the classroom. One study found a statistically significant relationship between fitness and academic achievement (Chomitz, Slining, McGowan, Mitchell, Dawson, & Hacker, 2009). Agencies, political leaders, and organizations are beginning to see how important regular physical activity is for children and adolescents
On the surface, physical education appears to be an inherently simple class, merely incorporated into the school setting to provide students with an enjoyable break from other classes. In actuality, physical education is a highly complex subject comprised of many facets which constitute a holistic approach to the health and wellbeing of students. These facets differ greatly, but one of the more prevalent ones that comes to mind is fitness education. Fitness education is designed to help students acquire knowledge and a high level of understanding of physical fitness, good habits of physical activity and healthy lifestyle choices. The secondary aspect to fitness education is to not only provide students with this information, but to inspire them to apply this knowledge to their lives. Therefore, fitness education is a crucial aspect of physical education that must be addressed in a proper way in order to be taught effectively and result in a positive outcome for all students.
Slowly rubbing your groggy eyes and waking up to lazily drive the short distance to school. In class nodding off to the drone of the teacher’s drawling voice, the dull clacking of the Chromebooks around you. Sleepily dragging your feet to the next class, only to remain in the same stiff chair for the entirety of the class period. These are the sedentary lifestyle actions that far are too familiar in high schoolers’ lives. These students will then grow up and likely befall to the life of a sedentary adult as well. This is why it is essential to alter these habits while these students are young. One can observe these unhealthy routines at school each day and I propose a movement to permute this standard at North High School. The staff at North High School should encourage and implement additional physical activity options for the students at North High School in order to enhance their health and assist them in developing healthy habits.
Health and fitness is a very popular topic of conversation. Sometimes it can turn into a confusing and heated debate because everyone appears to have their own unique idea, strategy and plan to obtain an optimum state of health and fitness. .
