You Can’t be President if You Don’t Run Last year, I was just a regular high school student. I worked hard, got good grades, tried to get a reasonable amount of sleep, all while attempting to maintain a social life. But, I didn’t have much to say when someone asked me, “what else do you do?” I guess I never really thought of it. My only goal was to get good grades. Then one day, a friend of mine asked me if I wanted to go to a student council meeting with her, and I thought, why not? To be completely honest, I thought that I’d just go to a meeting or two here and there, just get bored with it after a while, and eventually stop showing up. I expected myself to not like it and go back to my regular, basic duties as a good student within a month. But, I was pleasantly surprised by how wrong I was. …show more content…
I started going to every meeting that we had, and I actually looked forward to helping plan everything that we could do to make the school a better place. I enjoyed working behind-the-scenes of all of the events that I’ve been to before but never had much control over. My title was Junior Class Representative, and although it was the lowest title for the Junior class, I was proud of it. Soon enough, I was doing as much as I possibly could to help out at every meeting and event we hosted. Any time our director would ask for a volunteer to do something, especially something no one else wanted to do, I tried to make sure that my hand was the first one up. I took pride in even the smallest tasks assigned to me. At the end of the year, it was time to decide if we wanted to come back for the next year and if so, what position we wanted to run for. I was certain that I was going to be coming back for the next year. I also wanted to move up in ranking, so that I could help out even more (and, I’m not gonna lie, the ‘bragging rights’ that came with a higher position sounded pretty great to me). So, I decided to run for Senior Class
Unit 10 was a closure for the previous four units in the process of inventing Canada. This unit based on the earliest resources on Canadian history and on the first nations whom lived in this country. This resources were about pre-Cartier and his explorations. Some nations, for example the people who lived in St. Lawrence valley – whom did not have a specific name to be called at- and historians still lacking enough evidence on their existence or what happened with them. These people who are identified as St. Lawrence Iroquoians were lived in the contact area which means the conquerors reached them first. The Iroquoians were exposed to all the dangers Europeans carried into the native lands, different types of diseases they were not immune
I think I should be in the Junior Honor Society. I have met the requirements to receive this opportunity. I would not let this opportunity to waste. I care for the community and do what ever service to help it out. I help do services for the library when they need it. For example on March 10,2017, I helped make capes for sick kids and then gave them happy birthday cards for the birthday kids. I help out my community by helping people shovel their driveway. Like some of my neighbors can't do it so I ask if I can do it for them for free. I look out for people to make sure they are ok. I am a captain of a football team because of my great leadership skills that can be useful. I put effort and time into my work. Around the house I am a role model
In the spring of 2016 I was elected Vice President. This was a huge step for me and I was glad to be on the officer team. I learned life lessons like how to work with a team to reach a goal, and how to be in an interview. I also had to fill in for the president from time to time which was a little scary because I was a Junior telling fellow Juniors and Seniors what to do and to get organized. Although I was nervous I handled myself and the meetings got done
That really meant a lot to me, so after I was elected I wanted to make sure I did everything right. One of my first challenges was actually deciding whether or not to go to the National FFA Convention in Indianapolis. Our FFA goes on that trip every other year. I went to the last National Convention my freshman year just for fun, but this year I felt that I had a duty to go along and be a leader for our chapter by being involved. The problem is, last year I was on the varsity volleyball team. National Convention was at the same time that regional volleyball games were starting. I didn’t know what to choose – the volleyball team that I loved and had been committed to for three months already, or the organization that chose me to be their leader? I really didn’t know what to do. I finally chose to go with the FFA to Indianapolis. It would give me a chance to practice my leadership skills and get to know our FFA chapter better. I still felt like I was letting my team and coach down, but I felt more committed to FFA.
I voiced the opinions of many students in my class and took charge of some of our events like semi formal projects. I enjoyed it so much so, I ran to become the treasurer of my junior class. Though I had not won, I still take part in student council. I also joined Jewish Student Union as recommended by my friend and felt it to be an amzing way to get involved with my religion and learn more, later taking on an officer position. To challenge myself I applied for Hispanic Honor Society in which students had to write an essay and remember an induction speech. It all worked out, as I had made it in and tutor students. Also I particpated in my first high school sport, Girls Bowling. After my first practice I improve exponential to the point in which I was part of the varsity team, cheering on the
Fifteen years ago, I served as the student board representative for my school district. All I can really remember is being entertained by emotional parent complaints and listening to jargon-filled presentations. Upon receiving my first pink slip from that same district seven years later, I spoke at a school board meeting for the first time. Three years later, I was motivated by another pink slip to speak in front of a school board--this time as a teacher for my current school district, San Diego County Office of Education (SDCOE) Juvenile Court and Community Schools (JCCS).
Your senior year was a wild, crazy mess. You started off the year not wanting to go to school to see Karson because you couldn’t handle it. You even left school some days when he would show up. You let your dumb self try again with Karson and it failed. You got hurt, and even cried.... A lot. You meet the love of your life, Kyle, and still talk to him even though you guys aren’t together right now. You both hope to reconnect after you finish your second year of college. Keep talking to him, don’t let him get away from you. You have had it tough this year, but by the end of the year you didn’t let anything affect you. Your grades were A’s and B’s all year. You made some amazing new friends like, Chandler, Clayton Ecker, Collin and more boys
On April 26, 2017 I was made eighth grade secretary. Last year Mrs. Trimble, our advisor, just had us in her advisory. Thirty minutes a week to organize immense school functions for a little over one-thousand students wasn’t enough time, imagine that. This year we have student council as an elective class, so we are allowed more time to do what we need to. This is extremely nice because we have a lot to do as a board. Student council positions in high school can open up opportunities to apply for scholarships and prepare you for future jobs. Soon enough, I’ll start thinking about those possibilities, but all the worry is worth
For example, I was elected to be the student-body president of my high school, and I was also elected to several other offices, such as treasurer of the Science National Honor Society and fundraiser chair of the National Honor Society. As the student-body president, every day I get to make my voice heard to the entire school, as well as be the voice of the student body. I also was named the Editor-in-Chief of my school’s yearbook. As the Yearbook Editor-in-Chief, I get to interact with the diverse multitude of students at my high school. All of these roles that I have accepted allow me to span across different interests and bridge a seemingly wide gap to connect the people of my diverse high school.
I’ve learned to come out of my shell and be the first one to volunteer for anything and be willing to work with anyone. I believe as a member of student council you have to be willing to put yourself out there no matter the circumstances and you will gain so many different skills just by saying I’m willing to
As every summer break comes to the bitter end there is always the one thing is around the cover, school. And with every school year that passes by high schoolers are assigned new classes and periods but for the majority, one thing they can always count on is study hall. Study hall is a short period in between classes where you can get school announcements, catch up on homework, study for a upcoming test, or give yourself a break from the hustle and bustle that takes place during the school day. Many students enjoy this period for extra time on projects/homework or to give their mind a break for a small time. Although students enjoy it, some people believe it is a waste of time that could be spent on classes. I argue that it is a essential time for students to help improve their overall learning and grades.

Lastly, a leadership role that I backed down from was the chance to be on the prefectorial board. I
Throughout the years I have been elected to many positions of leadership. It all started Freshman year, when I was elected class Secretary. I enjoyed organizing and helping with fundraisers for both the Student Council and my class. I realized that I wasn't too bad at it, either. My Sophomore year, I decided to aim for bigger goals. Soon, I was elected class Vice President, as well as Vice President of the Gay-Straight Alliance, lead artist for the Spirit Week banner, and Co-captain of the Biology League. My Junior year, I was elected President of the Gay-Straight Alliance, Vice President of the History Club, and once again the lead artist for the Spirit Week banner. Finally, during my Senior year, I was once again elected President of the
