The best advice I can give to students during finals is to take everything in step by step. Students should start to prepare a week in advance and spend maybe 10-15 minutes on each class daily. There's no reason to over stress the situation because usually an individual knows more than they think they do. I have so many friends that constantly stay up and pull all-nighters the day before only to find themselves excruciatingly tired the next day and they repeat this process over and over and over again. What’s the point of staying up all night to retain information if you’re basically going to be sleeping during the test? On the first day of your new semester look at the calendar and mark down the day you will begin starting to study for finals
I am currently a junior at Downers Grove North High school and I have just read about our schedule for next year. I know the board has put a lot of effort into this decision but I along with a majority of students, parents, and faculty find this "traditional" calendar to be poorly thought out. As a senior next year I will only have to suffer through one year of this schedule, but I fear for the underclassmen that this calendar will become the norm. There are many flaws in which I would like to address, first off starting school so late in the summer when a majority of the school population and a majority of other schools in the area want or already have implemented a earlier start date, which in turn allows us to have finals before winter break. Finals before winter break has had positive effects on students from other schools as it allows us the mentally exhausted students a 2 week break. Instead with finals after break we have to spend our much deserved break studying for our upcoming finals. This years calendar has taken that flawed system one step further, with the movement of finals to after Martin Luther King Day we now do not have any break after finals and the board has also put one of the most traveled weekends of the school year just days before our finals. Putting finals after MLK day will all but certainly have a negative effect on the students exam scores.
This will be my first quater at Drexel. From what I assume college finals will be a lot different from high school finals. In high school, I really would not do much to prepare finals. I would usually just study two days prior to the exam, because that would be all I needed. Typically I would make flash cards for all key terms and points and review those before the test. My study habits were not the best. However, having started college I believe that I have better learned how to study.
Your senior year was a wild, crazy mess. You started off the year not wanting to go to school to see Karson because you couldn’t handle it. You even left school some days when he would show up. You let your dumb self try again with Karson and it failed. You got hurt, and even cried.... A lot. You meet the love of your life, Kyle, and still talk to him even though you guys aren’t together right now. You both hope to reconnect after you finish your second year of college. Keep talking to him, don’t let him get away from you. You have had it tough this year, but by the end of the year you didn’t let anything affect you. Your grades were A’s and B’s all year. You made some amazing new friends like, Chandler, Clayton Ecker, Collin and more boys
Sophomore year is going to get tougher as you go on, but there will be many room to have fun, like the assemblies. Dont give in to video games, like last year. I will not play League of Legends or any other games until I finish my homework and studies. My days of being a procrastinator master is over. Remember back when you stayed up till 3:00 studying or doing a project at the last minute. Doing everything the day they are assigned makes your life more stress free. I wouldn’t be tired and have a mood swing while doing my homework, and then sleep for a few hours, and waking up feeling like poo.
Sophomore year in general has been treacherous . Now it's become harder trying to manage work while studying for finals, Eoc and keeping up with work. Nowadays, I find myself wishing to be back in elementary school. A memory that has been engraved to the deepest part of my brain is one of my teachers telling me of the importance of flushing and cleaning up after the mess that I create. I can’t believe that I once thought that elementary school was difficult. Let’s ignore the fact that my English wasn’t that good in elementary school, now that I’m actually reflecting on the time that I spent in elementary school, I can truly see how simple everything was. For example, I had to write my weekly vocabulary words thrice. But, this is the real world. We aren’t given the chance to go back in time just because we wish to relive certain periods of our lives.
August 24, 2016 is the day I started my senior year. I been waiting for this moment my freshman year of high school. I couldn't wait for this moment to come. The first day of my senior year I went to my homeroom to get scheduled for 2015-2016 year. Then couldnt wait to get my senior I.D so i can go off campus eat. Once i get that senior I.D, I know that i'm officially a senior at Elsik. This was my last year playing football. That mean I had to go out with a bang. I played my last home game at Krump against Hasting. Hasting is the worst football team that I played against. I had to ball out that game and I and i did . That moment was sad for us senior because that was our last pep rally as a football team. When we went to playoffs. We were
“Time flies by when you’re having fun”, I never thought this quote would mean so much to me until now. This quote was repeated constantly my junior year and now I realize the true meaning of it. All the years I’ve spent in school have led up to this point, my senior year. As my last year in high school begins, and soon ends, I have a lot of decisions to make, and goals to set. Keeping high grades, going to FBLA nationals, and making my teachers proud are a few of my senior goals.
The option to get a higher education is a strand of the American dream. Especially with today's economy the cost of college tuition is increasing every year. Going to college changes students language, application, and self gratitude; through all this it still makes the student a better person. Yet sometimes students aren't always aware of the changes they go through.
Senior year. This is the year that every student looks forward to in high school. The time where one can have designated senior skip days, take fewer classes, and have the freedom they’ve dreamed about the past three years. Like many of my classmates, I thought I was invincible. I could eat whatever I wanted to, drink whenever I felt like it, and do whatever I wanted to, thinking there would be no consequences because I was almost at the end. Little did I know however, my shenanigans senior year had to stop a lot sooner than any others’. Senior year was when I found out I had bicuspid aortic valve disease. From then on I realized I had to change my lifestyle completely if I wanted my health to stay in good condition.
While senior year seems to be what every high schooler is daydreaming about, walking into high school on the first day of freshman year is nerve racking. It is almost impractical not to feel overwhelmed. It seemed unimaginable that, throughout the next four years, every day will be spent eating lunch, and walking the halls with the people I was surrounded by. Just like winning an Oscar, becoming a senior in high school tends to be just as celebrated. Although they bear some similarities, the differences between the expectations and realities of senior year are clear.
Freshman year is the most important year in high school because it determines your future in school and what it beholds. This year can help with so much in school and it can basically determine your whole entire future in school and even in life. There are so many little things that can be determined while you are a freshman and that's why I think it’s the most important year of your life if you do indeed want to succeed.
Finals week is more than stressful for college students in the Rochester, NY area, so when you’re in need of the perfect after-hours study break spot, come relax at Steve T. Hots & Potatoes and indulge in some of the best comfort food in town. This 24-hour restaurant is open seven days a week and is more than just a place to grab a bite to eat. This family-owned and operated eatery offers college students a place to hang out and recharge after studying long hours, and serves up the best fast food you’ve ever tasted.
Senior year was going to be the best one yet. I was going to be involved and fully enjoy it. However, my excitement started to diminish when my best friend got a boyfriend a month before school started. I didn’t think things would change at first, but suddenly I no longer had a constant companion at social events. The nights where we’d hang out were gone, and I found myself constantly third-wheeling. My hope for an amazing senior year was gone; I lost my best friend, and I felt miserably alone. (499)
There comes one of the saddest times of the year when a girl must put away her bikini and shorts and trade them in for a knee length skirt and a shirt that shows no shoulders, we call this back to school time. I am luckily entering my senior year so really all you will see me doing is counting down the days to my graduation! No totally kidding this by far has to be the most emotional year of high school, you are realizing you probably wont be seeing your friends in the halls next year and you wont be going home to Mom's cooking and sisters screaming. Don't get me wrong there are definitely days (weeks, months, whole lifetimes) I'm excited to leave the house and never want to see the people from my school again but its also the realization that so much will change and honestly you are finely
When I was a freshman at Padua, I had an exciting feeling that it will be a great year for me. Well, I did have a very good year since I was doing well academically, and I made the varsity volleyball team on my first year. However, I also endured many tough experiences, especially in trying to learn and adapt to a more competitive environment. Although I make many mistakes, with my parents’ supports, I was able to learn from them and drive myself to achieve more and do better.
