Choices people make while they are young can affect them for the rest of their lives. From a very young age, children are asked what they want to be when they grow up, and they are told they can be anything they want to be with hard work and dedication. Countless children say they want to be doctors and lawyers, but they are unaware of the financial burden they would take on to achieve these dreams. Going to college is not a simple as it may seem while guidance counselors promise it is the only way to be successful in life it only leaves students in debt and jobless. According to the article “Behind the Problem of Student Homelessness” author, Elizabeth A. Harris states, “It’s difficult to know exactly how many students are homeless or are dangling dangerously close to it, in part because of the enormous stigma surrounding the issue. But new research shows how pervasive a problem it is — and one that some educators believe is growing.” The stigma surrounding homelessness keeps heaps college students from verbalizing their situation and the negligence of universities in tracking their student stability which creates inaccuracies of reports. After the Great Recession of 2008 many college graduates struggled to find jobs in an economic crisis while their vocational and trade school counterparts thrived. Nunley, Adam Pugh, Nicholas Romero, and Richard Alan Seals, Jr. states that “Following the 2007-2008 recession, the unemployment rate of recent college graduates was significantly higher than the national unemployment rate.
