This quote means that the key point, in order to be successful, is that you are confident in yourself. Confidence is the feeling or belief that you can rely on yourself with firm trust. Success is the accomplishment of an aim or purpose. If you are not positive in what you are trying to achieve, it will be difficult for you to complete that goal. Having belief in what you are doing is a crucial part of carrying out the goal at hand. For example, if a student was trying to make the sports and was consistently telling themselves negative mental comments, that student is not expected to push themselves in the direction of their goal. That student does not have the momentum to reach for their dream. They are placing themselves in a pessimistic
This paper will explain the reasons that I want to obtain a college degree at Columbia Southern University and how I will make that happen. It will be a difficult task to accomplish but I believe that it can be done.By putting in the work and staying motivated to accomplish this goal I will be successful.
Transitioning from high school to college is a very important stage in a young adults life. It is an exciting, nerve racking, and sometimes frightening experience leaving home for the first time and essentially living on your own. Not having your immediate family around you for months at a time definitely affects students differently. Some students embrace the opportunity and strive while others do not make it past the first semester. However, research shows there are factors that increase the likelihood of becoming the student that strives rather than the student that does poorly. Factors
My first goal is to stay on top of any reading in english class throughout the year. I chose this because although I love reading, I’m generally a slow reader and this causes me to get discouraged and fall behind at some points. I plan to achieve this goal by not procrastinating, and trying my hardest to stay focus on the book instead of outside distractions. One way to achieve this would be insuring that wherever I read is quiet and free of distractions. By doing so, this will help me focus on the words, and hopefully speed up my reading pace. My second goal is becoming more physically active. I chose this goal because as the school year goes on I seem to become less and less physically active as I am busy with school work. School is always my top priority, but my
When first coming to Simpson, I knew there were multiple helpful resources, but I did not realize how many I would actually use. Resources such as, student support services, the writing center, supplemental instruction sessions, counseling, and financial aid have all assisted me to excel in my educational experiences. Student support services has been a great resource to me. I have used them to discuss what I want to do when I graduate, what classes to take for my intended degree, and used their resource of free printing for my science classes that require lots of printed documents. I enjoy knowing that no matter what I am struggling with, I have student support services by my side to get me on track or where I need to go for assistance. The student support services office is a welcoming environment that makes me feel special because most of the employees know me by name and always begin a conversation with me when I enter.

Student retention has been an important topic on college campuses across the United States. The effectiveness of and the need for campus programs and services are justified by their contribution to retaining students. Today, higher education is also being studied on how funds are being allocated due to the increasing tuition rates and fees. Programs such as campus recreation are often perceived as excessive or as a nonessential “perk” (Brandon, 2010). Despite these views, recreational sport programs on college campuses offer students additional options of learning to participate in outside of the academic classroom. These programs provide leisure opportunities in formal and informal settings and are important to the overall development of students.
This quote has been my mantra of success in life and I have always made a conscious effort to put in my 100 percent in every endeavor. I believe that every individual has unique skills and the talents required to succeed in life, if only he puts in his best to realize his dreams. In spite of one’s limitations, it is important to systematically keep on doing what you do to be able to achieve the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow.
In particular, one professor I met with achieved great academic success by attending graduate programs at Harvard and Georgetown University. The advice the professor gave me was not to be discouraged by the failures that are surmounting around me. In order to be successful, I have to control what I can control by not allowing uncertainty overwhelm myself or diminish my previous accomplishments, but to maintain a positive long-term outlook on the situation at hand. This comment was encouraged me to acknowledge my failures, but to never let my failures define who I am as a
This survey consists of 32 questions about campus involvement. My goal was to find out how involved students are around campus. I surveyed 30 students and 100% of them attend Lamar University. This survey was taken by 12 males and 18 females. The age range for this survey was 17 and up. Majority of the data in the survey shows that students are not very involved around campus. My original goal for this survey was to find out how involved students are around campus. I did not achieve the results I wanted or expected. I was very surprised to find out that students are not very involved around Lamar University. For most of the answers, I got the exact opposite of what I expected. It is very surprising that only 50% of students said they sometimes
The “at risk” population describe students or groups of students who are considered to have a higher probability of failing academically or dropping out of school. The term may be applied to students who face circumstances that could jeopardize their ability to complete school, such as homelessness, incarceration, teenage pregnancy, serious health issues, domestic violence, transiency, or other conditions, or it may refer to learning disabilities, low test scores, disciplinary problems, grade retentions, or other learning-related factors that could adversely affect the educational performance and attainment of some students.
As they say this I sit and think to myself that just because you get to where you're at doesn't mean that you can just stop in your tracks because you got to your goal. You must continue to thrive and do your best even if it means making new goals. You have to remember that you do everything in life in order to make yourself happy, and for me, the constant grind to do better for myself and others is what fuels me to continue doing what i'm doing. People want to do better in life and want to be able to build from the ground up but the one factor that's stopping them from doing it is the fact that they think it's just supposed to come to them. Many people wouldn't be where they are in life if they didn't work hard and make sacrifices. I work hard and stay focused on what needs to get done so that I can get where I want to be in the future and be able to say that I have gotten where I want. It could be any type of goal, short-term or long-term,0 it doesn't matter. Do better for yourself so you can be happy. And that's what this quote means to me. It states that you have to work, work, and work some more to be
However, if we choose to give up on ourselves in the middle of the journey just because we have low self-esteem and do not believe that others can support us, we can never be successful. Hence, only the person who endures throughout the journey and believes strongly in hope is qualified enough to be successful.
An accomplishment or achievement is not easy it might not come to you the 1st time or the 20th time, but that should not be a key to the door of submission; keep trying when it seems most impossible or hopeless because the hopeless moments are the ones that count the most and show your true strength and just not giving up in those hopeless moments are the true accomplishments because if you can do that congratulations you have surpassed the average person that gives up and is too lazy to persevere. That’s what this quote means to
