Is study hall important to you? Do you think that it would help you if you had study hall? Would you use your time wisely? Well, I believe that middle schools should have study hall. High schools have study hall and just because we are younger than them that doesn’t mean that we can’t have study hall. Study hall is proven to be more helpful for students.
Have you ever thought about how a mandatory study hall would affect the study bodies grades? Well having a time for talking to the teaching, talking with other students, and studying may improve higher test scores. Taking time to understand the lesson and thoroughly study will make the learning pace improve. Having a mandatory study hall may improve test scores and higher students abilities.
“Most writers,” as James L. W. West, III illustrates in “The Perfect Hour: The Romance of F. Scott Fitzgerald and Ginevra King, His First Love,” find inspiration for their fictional characters from influences in their own lives, thus creating “composite characters” (West 113). Having a personal relationship with the inspirations for their characters, writers can successfully characterize these imaginative personas. F. Scott Fitzgerald, one of the most notable American writers of the early twentieth-century, is no exception; a number of his short stories, including “Babylon Revisited,” “The Diamond as Big as the Ritz,” and “Winter Dreams,” can be seen as self-reflective or even autobiographical. Fitzgerald’s recurring tendency to model characters
B. I have tutored in several schools and have a good relationship with teachers and students alike.
Lucy Honeychurch is a dynamic protagonist in A Room with a View and her voyage to Italy drastically changes her perspective about conforming to society. Lucy is from the English middle class, and her family sends her to Italy with her cousin Charlotte for a cultured experience to become more sophisticated and educated. This vacation is irregular; Lucy develops a romantic relationship with George, and she challenges her past judgements of English society. This vacation signifies the beginning of Lucy’s growth as an individual. The title A Room with a View states the progression of Lucy Honeychurch’s accidental journey of introspection and her desire to find independence and escape from English social norms.
The short story “That Room”, written by Tobias Wolff is written all around symbolism. One of the first examples I originally noticed was how he would sometimes gaze out into the fields as an escape from the current job he was assigned to such as “shoveling shit” or “hacking weeds”. As the story goes on, the narrator finally gets what he wants, a job in the fields with the other boys. After he obtained that job, that room that they stay in is a horrible place to live, the conditions are terrible and it is one of the grimiest places possible. This one room though, is filled with symbols, enough that it changes the story in the blink of an eye.
Sometimes it can be easier to let others make decisions. People find comfort in letting others decide deadlines or goals. People can find direction in others’ choices for them that they could never have possibly come up for themselves. That having been said, life also requires ownership. A person’s life is full of options and can mean so much more if personal decisions are made within. It certainly is difficult, but the struggle often makes the result all that much sweeter. Such is the case in E.M. Forster’s novel A Room with a View. Throughout the story Lucy is stuck within the rigid, cookie-cutter class system. She finds herself surrounded by people who mindlessly go with expected actions and must walk in step behind all the adults in
Students complain there's too much homework. Students complain they're too busy. Students complain they need more time to learn a lesson. All of these problems can be solved by one thing- study hall. Study hall gives students time to work on their homework, study for tests, work on projects with their peers, and more. Study hall is essential to Friendswood student’s busy lives and will improve a student’s grades tremendously. Though there are disadvantages, the pros outweigh the cons. We need a study hall at FHS.

I enjoyed reading through your discussion board post and learning about Room to Read. Although I have not heard of this nonprofit before it does sound similar to other types of nonprofits providing education to children. While on the website I read, “We employ local teams, which are personally invested in their nation’s educational progress and familiar with the challenges ahead. They speak the language, know the customs, and understand what it takes to implement each program successfully.” This is such a wonderful way for this organization to work because they not only are teaching literacy but also employing people who are passionate in this mission. For a concept this nonprofit could consider I chose Structuring International NGO’s.
The place where I feel the most comfortable, and show my personality, is my bedroom. This is the place where I can really be myself and do what I want; it’s the place I come home to, and wake up every day. My room makes me feel comfortable because it is my own space. My house is always crazy, with my dog barking, and my siblings running around making noise, my room is the only place in the house where I can come and relax without caring about everything else, the only place that I can go to clear my mind.
My house is quite large. It has three bedrooms, two bathrooms, a kitchen, two living rooms, a dining room, a special games room and a big front and back garden.
