Organizational Behavior
I believe that the relationship between the study of Organizational Behavior and the effective management of people in organizations is absolutely direct. It is impossible to manage people in organization effectively without knowledge about OB, organizational structure, communicational skills, empoyees’ satisfaction, motivation, change process, etc. It is impossible to solve any problem or conflict in the organization without understanding of the rules of Organizational Behavior. Whenever people interact in organizations, many factors come into play. Modern organizational studies attempt to understand and model these factors. Like all modernist social sciences, organizational studies seek to

Downsizing, restructuring, and reengineering have had a profound effect on organizations as firms respond to increased global competition and technological change. Surveys show that the consequences of these events have been decreased trust, morale, lower job satisfaction and organizational commitment, and shifting loyalties. Structural changes in work arrangements such as part-time work and temporary and contract work are expected to become the future standard forms of work and will forever influence the nature of employee-organization relationships. The field of organizational behaviour offers many potential solutions to these kinds of problems and on how to establish positive and supportive employee-organization relationships.
Increasing competition and changes in the environment have led many organizations to focus on quality in an attempt to achieve continuous improvement in the quality of an organization 's products and/or services. As well, organizations are learning to do things faster as speed can be a real competitive advantage. Finally, organizations need to become more flexible in order to respond and adapt to an increasingly uncertain, turbulent, and chaotic environment. The need for quality, speed, and flexibility requires a high degree of employee involvement and commitment as well as teamwork.
Many organizations today are struggling to find and
Organization is a very diverse and rich place where in different types of personality come in contact. They come from different family background, beliefs, upbringing, attitude etc and other factor that affect the personality. Sometimes conflict arises due to individual differences thus this result to the study of human behavior in organization to better understand each member of organization what contributes to their behavior, how can their attitude/ behavior affects performance and productivity that contribute to the organization as a whole.
The study of Organizational Behavior (OB) is related to individuals, group of people working together in teams. The study becomes more challenging when situational factors interact. No two individuals are likely to behave in the same manner in a particular work situation. It is the predictability of a manager about the expected behavior of an individual. There are no absolutes in human behavior. It is the human factor that is contributory to the productivity hence the study of human behavior is important. Great importance therefore must be attached to the study.
Without wise application of organizational behavior, no manager can consistently manage effectively or efficiently. Such knowledge and ability is foundational to the Master of Business Administration program. It should also be anticipated that many of the topics presented in this course will be studied in much greater depth in
The theories that organizational behavior are built on are psychology, social psychology, sociology and anthropology. According to Robbins and Judge (2009) , psychology seeks to explain changes in behavior in humans for example, impacts on learning, emotions, leadership, and decision making principles in an organization. Social psychology examines people’s

Organizational theory studies the various variables that influence the behavior of an individual(s) working within an organization, but also, “prescribes how work and workers ought to be organized and attempts to explain the actual consequences of organizational behavior (including individual actions) on work being performed and on the organization itself.” (Milakovich & Gordon, 2013, p.145). Of the many approaches to organizational analysis, Classical Organizational theory has been, even to this day, extremely influential by focusing on more formal concepts such as bureaucracy, rationalization and scientific management. Although, over the decades organizational management has taken on a more human relations approach to getting more productivity out of employees, it is contributors like Max Webber, Fredrick Taylor, and Luther Gulick that laid down the basic foundation organizational theories by recognizing the need for control and procedures.
According to Laurie J. Mullins (2013. pp.4-5), “Organizational Behavior is concerned with the study of the behavior of people within an organizational setting, generally along the lines of understanding of individual and group behavior, and patterns of structure in order to help improve organizational performance and effectiveness.”
In this assignment paper, organizational behavior associated matters will be discoursed on the base of two allocated organization named ASDA PLC and British Airways. With the help of those two organizations it is tried to see the practical situation of organizational behavior and the application of different theories and representations of organizational behavior. And also we can compare and contrast while evaluating the differences and distinguishes of performs between managers and workforces employed in those two organizations.
Organisational Behaviour (OB) is the study of human behaviour in an organisation. It is a multidisciplinary field devoted to the understanding individual and group behaviour, interpersonal processes and organisational dynamics. OB is important to all management functions, roles and skills. Since organisations are built up levels - individual, group and an organizational system as a whole, it is important for managers to understand human behaviour in order to meet the organizations overall goals. I found several key learning areas that are meaningful, interesting and relevant to my work over the course of studying this unit. These key learning areas have not only expanded and improved my view of organisational behaviour but they also have
The guiding coalition should act as a synergetic team as described by Ivancevich et al. This team should be formed by individuals who are one hundred percent committed and dedicated towards the goal of organizational change. They should be skilled in leadership, problem-solving and emotional roles (P. 259). The emotional role will be discussed more in depth when presenting the changing attitudes concept. Forming a guiding coalition is an essential component for undertaking a restructure, reengineer or to retool strategies (Kotter, 1996, P. 52).
The managerial research paper is about the organizational behavior of different levels of managers in a company or organization which includes all the departments and divisions of the entire organization. In this I personally interviewed a successful leader and manager of the organization .from this I have researched deeply about his entire organizational behavior in different levels of his total managerial career till the date. In this paper I would like to share and elaborate the concepts of organizational behavior technically compared with his career in real life.
Many factors come into play whenever people interact in organizations, modern organizational behavior studies attempt to understand and model these factors. Organizational behavior studies seek to control, predict, and explain individuals and groups in an organization. Organizational behavior can play a major role in organizational development, enhancing overall organizational performance and productivity, as well as also enhancing individual and group performance, satisfaction, and commitment. These factors are largely categorized into two, the Dependent Variables and the Independent Variables.
OB would help them predict employees behaviour and especially avoid deviant and unproductive behaviour. The study of organisational behaviour helps a managers understand employee psychology and identify their needs regarding their work. By doing this managers can bring in motivated behaviour in employees which increases productivity, successfully achieving organisational goals at the same time increasing job satisfaction among staff. OB focuses on functions that are important to an organisation like effective communication, personality and perception. These elements are built around each other. OB identifies that each employee comes with his or her own personality and the management has to carefully communicate with them in order to avoid forming the wrong perception about itself in the employees mind. In the current world for an organisation to maintain its identity apart from its organisational achievements it should be able to communicate its values to its employees and the
This paper will outline my personal definition of “organizational behavior” and how it affects the workplace in a both positive and negative way. As I established a definition for organizational behavior on my own, I realized how broad the term really is. I will discuss the different leadership styles and how they benefit the workplace, how the employees work ethic is based on the different organization structures, how organizational behavior can be promoted by organizational constraints, and how culture can affect the workplace negatively. Each topic discussed will relate back to organizational management and how it affects employees and their employment. Embedded into the research included, by others, I have added my own personal theories and examples to lay out how organizational behavior is significant in different ways. This research paper will include the following researcher’s examinations, Hyten, Kaifi, Noori, Tomer, and Treven. With their past research I am able to show evidence of how my personal definition is precise.
Throughout the decades, organizational Behaviour has played a very important role in the organization’s success. It is a diagnostic study that focuses on teams, motivation, values, relationships and individual goals. As society has been rapidly changing, organizations have had to adapt its own culture for its survival. I believe understanding organizational behaviour has helped a lot of companies to stay successful in their respective market and helped them to evolve the way they approach and treat their employees. As an organization, realizing the employees are integral to the success of the company as well as communicating the success they achieved will help the organization to build employee’s motivation, and loyalty which have a
