Studying Geography: A Career In GCSE And A-Level

I view Geography as an adventure which takes you across the world to study a dynamic subject. One of the many modules I enjoy within geography is population growth, and the impact it can have on a local environment or on a global environment. For example, if a town clears forested land to build housing instead of using a brownfield site, the carbon released would have a negative impact on the rest of the town due to the air pollution released by building and cutting down trees; forming a positive feedback loop.

Studying Geography throughout GCSE and A-Level has taught me key skills, such as analysing key pieces of data after completing fieldwork. The joy that comes from working as a team to complete field work is unlike any other. In particular completing a full river profile of the river Chess taught me to clearly communicate with members of my team on a regular basis for example, to be able to measure the river’s velocity. My skills have also developed from GCSE by writing numerous essays on the carbon and water cycle, which have led to my personal interest in sustainability and the regeneration projects across the country and by extension the world. …show more content…
