A play called Subterranean Homesick Blues Again by Dennis Reardon written May 25, 1983 is a very detailed dramatized play. It grabs your attention as you being to read, and keeps your attention until the end. It’s a play that takes place in a cave that has very detailed descriptions about what’s going on and what happens throughout the play. As you read you get more action and an excessive amount of drama that draws a lot more attention to the play. Once I started to read the play and get more further in, i’m glad I didn’t stop. It stayed on topic, and got very descriptive about the things they seen, where they were and how nervous and frightened the students were. For example Kathy gets scared and says “ I don’t want to go “ because the tour
For the live theatre critique project I watched the Dearly Departed play. I watched this show at the Klein Oak High School auditorium and I watched it on November 9, 2015 at 7:00 P.M. Dearly Departed was about a guy name Bud who dies as known as Andrew Brown in the play his family plans a funeral for him, but everything goes wrong. Junior and Ray-Bud get into a fight and start punching each other they both were bad and were separated they both later sat down together drank beer and solved out the situation and they both apologized to each other. Everyone in The Dearly Departed play were really frustrated because Bud dies and Junior and Ray-Bud get into a fight Junior
One part where i found the play exemplary was how the characters such as Mick and Sherman would give the tour guide a hard time, but he would continue on with the tour like nothing just happened. The selection was effective in terms to character development since both Mick and Sherman
Sadly when I arrived at the theater I was not even sure I would be able to focus on the show, for my mother who was meant to see this production with me yet was unable to. Due to unforeseeable circumstances that neither one of us could for see and so with all of this hanging over head I was really hoping to get a laugh from this play, which it did. This was not the first time that I had come to see a play at Boise Little Theater, but definitely this was the first time that I had done it on my own. Which was a tad
I felt like this was a good break from the sadness taken on by the audience from the depth of the sister. The play then goes on to show us that this guy is the leader of a game called Dungeons and Dragons played by the dead sister. To try and understand more about her sister the cheerleader plays the game. At first she thinks it is dumb, but then the audience is shown a first person view of the game through the eyes of the cheerleader as she lives through her character. The audience is then introduced to the friends of the dead sister, but not as real people. Rather, they are introduced through the characters in the game. As the story progresses we find out that the game is based on the geek's diary. This turns out to be important because it reveals important information to the cheerleader about her sister. One of these important details is the fact that her sister might have actually been homosexual. Information like this really gets the audience thinking about how time has changed
The first thing my eyes were drawn to was the show poster because of it’s scientific look. It led me to believe that the play’s focus was on science and theories. The designs used also led me to believe that you needed to know about science to watch the play and the title on the poster seemed to me like it was handwritten which made me think that this play was going to be a play that had elements of a lecture and that one of the characters would be a teacher. Going into the house and sitting down the thing that stood out to me was the set. It looked very spacy and galactic which gave me a feeling of excitement and curiosity. I believe that the set played a huge role as far
Reardons play was exemplary because he uses descriptive imagery in the play to support the reader visualize each level of the cave, for example, when Reardon has the tour guide describe the pink lighting of the second level of the cave. When the tour guide explained “the pink lighting management sees to fit the name Hippies Hairdo” although the tour guide gives out the original name “ Head of Medusa” which the tourist thinks it's more appropriate.
Overall it held my attention. The comedy injected into this play allowed for the more poignant messages to be driven home. I could relate to the respective arguments of the two men. It makes you
The title of this play is “Subterranean Homesick Blues Again”. This play was by Dennis Reardon. The genre is mysterious, interesting for some, but if you like mysterious then you’ll like the play too. The play is mainly about the you may be going to the caverns with a tour guide and don’t know there story, the tour guide may seem generous at first but then once you get to know him… boom you just wish you just would have gone somewhere else. You give all your trust to that person, because they are just the nicest and you think your there just to see the caverns. Everyone thought he was just a normal 19 year old handsome fellow.
In the play Seven, the actors told the stories of their characters and opened our eyes on how much abuse all these seven women went through. One by one took turns explaining their stories, not all at once, but in a way to where they all intersect with one another in which I believe made the play even stronger. To begin with all of their stories went through every face of fear, humiliation, and torture. Yet, the women showed courage and fought back for what they believed was right. The first thing that I found very interesting was the walking around before the play even started.
When I first heard the play I figured it was obviously centered around the title, but I was hoping for a little more to it. Once I read the description and it stated a family friendly play for children 4+, I knew I had to be in for some kind of treat. I figured I was going to be the only college student attending this play, then I walked in and
I will be honest with you I had a lot of trouble enjoying the play, like I said the dialect gave me trouble, plus my seats were not that great. I did however like the movie quite a bit, but I realize I am a product of a different generation as well. I have been brought up around TV and movies rather than plays
I think I did a great job of spreading out major points in the play, and feel like this essay deserves an A, but at the same time I still think I need to work on filling in my holes better with quotes, while maintaining the crucial flow. When you grade my essay I’d like you to point out to me the holes in my essay, which I can transition with better. It was really difficult for me to do with that 3-page limit. Which leads me into my next statement. I apologize for going slightly over that 3-page mark, but I cut as much as I could.
When I first looked that the song title, I did not know what to expect. From first impression, I thought West End Blues would not catch me. But, I was wrong when I listened to West End Blues for the first time. One element from West End Blues that really drew me in was the swing or groove of the rhythm.
On October 19th, 2017, I had the honor to attend the Indiana State University production of A Piece of My Heart. This play could be considered a historical documentary and was full of drama, thrill, and action. A Piece of My Heart was originally written by Shirley Lauro, a very popular play writer with many other well-known plays. The play was based around 6 extremely strong and opinionated women who were sent to the Vietnam War to either help or entertain the American Men. Consisting of 5 army nurses, one country singer, and multiple different army men the production was able to provide a full understanding of how life was in Vietnam during the war. This play was performed by Indiana State University students.
The production spearheaded with a solemn poem by Langston Hughes entitled "Harlem." Preparing for an emotionally empowering theater piece, the poem quieted the audience and placed a serious blanket over us. While appropriate for me, I found it extremely coincidental that the poem's title, ties in directly with James Baldwin and his extensive writings on the 1943 Harlem race riots. With the lights off and just a solitary voice reciting the poem, it gave us, the audience, an immediate notion of play's melancholy style.
