I. Part 1
a. Organization’s name: Suicide Squad Prevention Treatment Center
b. History - Suicide Squad Prevention Treatment Center (SSPTC) was established in 2013 by Michael Taylor and Marquis Jackson in 2013, in Fairbanks, Alaska. The history began when the group of friends realized that Alaska had the highest suicide rates in the United States, closely followed by Montana. Among American Alaska Natives aged 10 to 34 years old, suicide is the second leading cause of death. The word “suicide,” hit close to home for each of them, because they just had a friend who took his life because of cyberbullying. Alaska had treatment centers to help drug addicts, alcohol addicts, domestic violence victims, LGBTQ bullied victims, but however, nothing

II. Part 2
a. Communication - Communication is very important to our well being as a company. The CEO will only be seen or heard from when there is an issue with business or there is a big decision to be made that can not be made by the workers and managers themselves. They make decisions and give instruction through our CFO who then distributes that information between to the personal assistant. The information then goes to the floor supervisors and the DC. From there it can go to the regular employees and therapist so that everyone is on the same page.
b. Leadership - The leadership styles within our residential treatment center impact the program’s climate and culture and ultimately the quality of care patients receive. There are many different leadership styles such as coercive, authoritative,

In the United States, suicide is the third leading cause of death for 10 to 14-year-olds (CDC, 2015) and for 15 to 19-year-olds (Friedman, 2008). In 2013, 17.0% of students grades 9 to 12 in the United States seriously thought about committing suicide, 13.6% made a suicide plan, 8.0% attempted suicide, and 2.7% attempted suicide in which required medical attention (CDC, 2015). These alarming statistics show that there is something wrong with the way mental illness is handled in today’s society. Also, approximately 21% of all teenagers have a treatable mental illness (Friedman, 2008), although 60% do not receive the help that they need (Horowitz, Ballard, & Pao, 2009).
Safety goal 15A puts emphasis on care during and following discharge from a healthcare organization to be an important first step in protecting and planning care for at-risk individuals, especially in emergency medicine where young patients are treated quickly and not for overnight stays (Adamski, 2007). Elements for Performance for NPSG 15.01.01 as described by the Joint Commission in July 2010, M 3 reads, “When an individual at risk for suicide leaves the care of the organization, provide suicide prevention information (such as a crisis hotline) to the individual and his or her family” (Joint Commission, 2010).
As a social worker, I know that my clients are coming to me in a time in their lives where they need help, and some these clients are affected by suicide. Therefore, I must be aware of the current programs and service being utilized in the field of practice to prevent suicide. In this section, I will be identifying current services and programs aimed at preventing suicide among military service members and veterans. Additionally, I will address the effectiveness of these programs and services, what research has been conducted to evaluate these services, and what still needs to be explored. My primary focus in my review of these programs and services will be the role of social worker, and how the social worker
The purpose of the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline Crisis Center Follow-Up program is to promote systematic follow-up of suicidal persons who call the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline (NSPL) network and those that are discharged from a partnering emergency department.
J.F. is a 42-year-old, Hispanic male who was transferred to the behavioral center for suicidal ideation, in which he planned to hang himself with cable wires. He has a history of mental illness in the family. The patient’s mother has a history of bipolar disorder, and passed away when the patient was 37 years old. The patient was emotionally and abused by a family member when he was around 8-10 years old. He had attempted suicide as a teenager by trying to overdose on pills. His medical history includes diabetes, pancreatitis, and methamphetamine use.
Twenty veterans a day take their own lives in this nation. Suicide among military veterans is a tragic epidemic in our country. Out of every 100,00 veterans, 3.53% commit suicide; however, for every 100,000 civilian adults only 1.52% take that same drastic action (Thompson). A man by the name of Peter Kaisen from Islip, NY was denied treatment at the Northport VA for mental health issues. He was upset that he was turned away for treatment so he went directly to his car outside the VA and shot himself in the head (Rebelo). Multiple tales such as this graphic suicide are happening across the country. I felt this shockwave when my close friend and team leader, Corporal Christopher J Carter took his own life by crashing and burning alive in his car. His suicide was another demonstration of failing to receive the proper treatment for Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder. A veteran commits suicide every 72 minutes, this is a problem fueled by the incompetence and difficulty of receiving treatment by the Veterans Health Affairs, a negative stigma that causes veterans to suffer silently from their mental issues, as well as a failed preventative approach on stopping destructive behavior before it’s too late.
Their goal is to continue to improve on the quality of care of patients- There mission and vision statements elaborate well and the focus on this.
One of the major problems in the state of Alaska is suicide. It is one of the greatest challenges that needs to be solved in the state. The suicide rate in Alaska is highest among Alaskan Native males. In 2014, the suicide rate for Alaskan native males was four times the national average (Alaska bureau of vital statistics, 2015). This is a problem that we must address as soon as possible. Hospitals in the state have the answers, volunteers, and resources to bring the massive rates of death down. We understand the number might never reach zero, but any kind of number drop is a move in the right direction.

Effectiveness of this style of leadership include: can result in positive nurse and patient outcomes, and it emphasizes the leader’s ability to produce positive relationships within the organization (Marquis & Huston, 2015).
Leadership styles and behaviors very depending on the organization needs, cultural diversity, and human behavior (Northouse, 2013), however, no one leadership style is more effective than the next. Basically, they are divided into three divisions, which are: Marketing division, Programming division, and Quality control. The division that was made clear by the CEO has their own job description. Their job description is crucial to the company, because each of the division represents the company itself. Each of the divisions will do their best to make sure that each of their job is cleared.
