Summary: A Bad Case Of Strip

chose the book “A Bad Case of Stripes” by David Shannon for my lesson plan. This lesson focused on reading strategies and activities for before, during, and after reading. Before we began I asked my student if she would tell me what she thought the story was about by analyzing the picture on the front of the book. The front cover had a picture of a sad girl that was covered in rainbow stripes with a thermometer in her mouth. She stated “I think it is about a girl who loved rainbows so she looked like one and that was bad.” This reflected her ability and awareness of predictions we can make from the pictures in our picture book. As I read the story I modeled inferencing, which is a reading strategy that can be used to further someone’s understanding
