Social Workers can approach middle schools and high schools to develop a preventative CBT evidence based program to improve resilience and coping skills in the students. This process would include developing a screening process, speaking with the parents, students, school psychologist/social worker, teachers, and any other additional clinical staff that would be working on the prevention program. Once all members agree to participate in a CBT based prevention program the social worker would then administer the ASEBA and the SDQ assessments. The results of the assessments would provide the social worker and school psychologist information on the students that are at risk, to include those needing additional assessment for possible mental
I chose social working as my career because many other people go through tough situations and have a difficult time talking to relatives or friends to help them through a tough situation. I thought of becoming a social worker so I can have the ability to change the lives of others. Social work is one of those careers you can truly make a difference in people’s lives. I want to become a social worker because life isn’t about just helping yourself it’s about helping others as well, which is what social workers do for a living. Child and family social workers protect children and families in need of assistance. Many families and children don’t feel comfortable talking to just anyone about obstacles they have faced in their lives which is why

There are many different jobs in direct services but the job I would choose would be a clinical social worker. There are many different aspects that draw me to this career.
A social worker is challenging mentally, being a social worker you help individuals, children, families, and groups of people cope with their issues. Being a social worker interest me because you have to be hands on with your client, and I enjoy hands on work. The importance about this career is having patiences for anyone that is your patient. It's important to me because I believe that if anyone needs help or someone to talk too it's ok to be open with a social worker and not feel like they have to hold in all their emotions.
When I think about a career I think about a lifetime. I imagine waking up every morning and being excited to go to work. Qualities I look for in a career is that the schedule is established, in an office type of environment, I am interacting with individuals, makes a difference in people’s lives, helps others, and pay is sufficient to provide for my family. I grew up in a home where communication lacked and having a conversation about our feelings or important events in our lives was difficult with my parents. I always wished I had a parent that I could go to for advice and understanding. So I have hopes that my career could possibly help me better communicate and listen to my kids and husband. Along with giving them the security that I will
Going into Social work I had a brief idea of what was entailed to be an excellent social worker. After having known people to have awful experiences, myself included, and those who had great experiences, I came into Social Work with High hopes that I will be the best I can be. However, after two social worker practicums, jobs in the field, and graduating with a social worker diploma, I have discovered that a competent and professional social is much more complex, and challenging (I want a more positive word here) to achieve then I originally thought. What I am learning, is that being a professional and competent social worker requires not only the skills and techniques that are learned through education, but the ability to use theses skill
Having a strong desire to help others has been a part of me since an early age. As a social worker I feel that I will be extremely beneficial in this career choice because of my ability to have empathy and compassion for others in need. Often people find themselves in situations that often times do not come into mind for the individual. I can relate to a person in an unforeseen situation due to personal issues that were forced upon me. While dealing with these issues I was forced to apply for public assistance. Having to do this I often experienced the harshness of rude employees that made me feel that I was less than human. It was at that time that I decided that if given the opportunity I would do my best to make sure that anyone that I encounter that was in an unforeseen situation and I could possibly help. That I would do what was need to assure the person that there is a better future for them.
Starting from being a certified nursing assistant, to becoming a unit secretary for a hospital that specialize in wound care, I have always known that I wanted to help individuals in need. However, I noticed that I was not happy with helping individuals in medical need. It wasn’t until I decided to continue my education that I introduced to the world of social work. Going up with a single mother that suffered from drug abuse, my family depended on social services for a lot of assistance, from everything such as food stamps to family counseling. This life experience helped guide my thoughts on pursuing social work as a career. I know that I want to help individuals that are down on their luck, but I want to take it one step farther, by providing individual counseling to adults that may need more one on one time, than what is normally given from a social service agency. Counseling will also give me a chance to do what I love most and that is to talk and get to know the individuals that I am helping make like changing decisions. Working as a clinical social work has my interest because it does not put limits on what I can do or who I can help, and it will set me up for my future goal of becoming a licensed clinical social worker. Being my own boss and changing my community is my dream job, opportunity and goal. I am currently on my way with changing my community and living my dream, because I am currently working for a non-profit
I want to become a social worker in health care. The reason why I chose this field is because I have always been deeply committed to helping others and I have always wanted to be able to make a difference to people's lives. Over the summer I worked with my aunt in Texas at Alliance a plus Home Health Care, it was a very challenging and exciting experience. After that, it opened my eyes to a lot of things. During my time there I explored different fields of interest such as Nursing and physical therapist. After doing some research I decided to not pursue any of those careers. My grandma always told me to work towards goals even when challenges and roadblocks present themselves. So my main goal as a social worker is to help people map out a
A social worker has a very important job. Social workers help children and families in need of food, homes, and health care. They help children have a brighter future. There are many different types of social work. There are mental health, child and family, elementary, and high school social workers.
My career objective is to become a social worker when I finish school. I would like to become a social worker because of the many things they do for kids. Ever since I was little i always wanted to help people out. This job would make me happy because i love working with kids. Making kids happy and seeing them succeed brings joy to me . I feel as though there aren't many people who try with kids and they are not giving them a chance. People assume that just because they do bad things that it makes them a bad person when all they want is attention. A social worker has to do many things and they are responsible for helping people and families cope with their problems and try to help them. I have met many people who have struggled growing up and

My current job with 911 dispatch here in Pennington County is an eye opener to the socioeconomic problems our community faces, and has provided me with new insights to become a better social worker. The reason I am leaving dispatch if hired with Department of Social Services is so I can take helping those in need a step further and try and make an impact on the socioeconomic struggle our community sees.
Growing up, I would watch the people in my community. I picked up on the things we considered to be socially acceptable. My community is predominantly filled with Latino and African American culture. Though, both come from two different ethnic groups, beliefs and practices, they share a common socioeconomic factor. I remember observing the gang violence, prostitution, drug and alcohol abuse, and children wandering the streets. Most people coming from a higher income status would be uncomfortable and appalled by the events that take place in my community. I stress over getting a higher education because I have hope. I have hope that one day, I will be able to put an end to my peoples’ suffering. I have no idea of when or how, but I do believe that working through school, I can develop the necessary social skills needed to guide my community in a better direction. One profession that work towards bringing the community together is social workers. Social workers give assistance to groups and individuals in order to restore or enhance their capacity to function socially. They also work to create societal conditions that supports the communities’ needs. The practice of social work requires knowledge of human development and behavior of each individual or group. They refer to the social, economic and cultural factors and compare the interaction of all of them combined. Social workers help people of all backgrounds address their own needs through
A social worker requires a variety of awareness and understanding of theories when working with individuals and their families. Working with others and improving own knowledge and performance are highly necessary skills in social work. Before starting this degree, I was already working with the elderly and their family in a nursing home setting. My dealings with others were sometimes effective, and sometimes they were not depending on the circumstances.
