Personal Statement

I would like to study Acting and the Theatrical Arts because I am very passionate about musical theatre, and have always wanted to play different roles, and make people happy and joyous through my performances. I want to pursue acting as a career because it has always been and interest of mine, and I have done a lot in school and my past to work towards finding a profession in Theatre. The course in general interests me because it includes everything that a person needs to know to improve their work as an actor, and because it will challenge me, and furthers me as an actress. The course does not only dwell on acting and performance, but also theatre itself, performances, dramatic texts, performance venues, and so on. I remember that I used to raid the attic, find old clothes, and dress myself up in them. I even used wigs, umbrellas, everything I could find to create a funny and lighthearted character that I could then present to my family out on the terrace. I always had a passion for creativity and making up people that I could then make people laugh with. I love the feeling of making people happy with something that I have done, and have an immense passion for performance. Every time I have seen a show in the theatre, I felt amazing after having seen a good performance. The emotion that the actors had for their show would rub off on me and I would be ecstatic for days after, thinking about the lights, and the costumes, and the songs. I want to do the exact same thing for other people, I want my work to inspire others and have them be glad through it. I was in multiple productions, including ’30 Reasons not to be in a Play’, in my junior year of high school, and our showing of ‘Pippin’ in twelfth
