Just had the opportunity to finish compiling photos of AHS Class of 1979’s recent Mini Reunion for our Class Album. Wonderful time with Pirate brothers and sisters and spouses (who are also part of the Pirate Family). Re=posting some of the group photos. As we conclude the month of March, one of my most beautiful memories is and will always be the time shared with my Pirate Family, March 18th through the 20th, Atlantic City, New Jersey. Good times! We are Pirates for life!
Never in a million years would I have thought that I would be in a sorority. I have always had this image of what a sorority girl was in my head. They were the pretty, stuck up, and rude girls. I didn’t want to be involved with drama and hold girl’s hands in pictures. I just wasn’t that girl. My best friend joined a sorority and she changed but not for the better. She became one of those girls who only thought about herself and her appearance. I wanted to focus on school and making friends, not partying every weekend and caring about my outfit for that night.
To begin, over the course of this semester, I had the opportunity to conduct my history classroom observations at Sierra Vista High. This high school is a public school located in Baldwin Park and is part of the Baldwin Park Unified School District. Sierra Vista High School has a student population of 1,895 students. The student population consists of 90 percent Hispanic, 6 percent Asian, 3 percent Filipino, and 1 percent white. These demographics were shared by the vice principal of the high school. While I was at Sierra Vista High School, I was given the chance to analyze and observe three history teachers. Thus, in this paper I will discuss and share my experiences observing the
Everyone knows about the stroll offs, roll calls, and step shows when an African American Greek sorority or fraternity is the topic. But is that all African American Greeks do is step and stroll? Believe it or not the image of African American Greeks has been tainted and miscued by their entertaining performances. Better known as the Divine Nine, the African American Greeks their hand signs and colors. The Divine Nine is a brotherhood and sisterhood organizations that are called to help the community and give back. These organizations also give women a chance to make a difference. After all, each and every one of the Dive Nine was founded because differences.
I would like to become an active member of Carrboro High School National Honor Society, because I am looking forward to the opportunity to serve and improve the community with other like-minded students. I believe it is important to balance academics, athletics, and community service. For example, this year I am taking 5 AP classes, running cross-country and track, and have spent almost 150 hours volunteering in the community. The first time I volunteered was when I raised a diabetic alert dog with my family. Even though I was sad to see the dog I had raised go, it was a rewarding experience because I knew that the dog would help someone have a better life. Anytime I can find an opportunity to both improve myself and the community, I won’t hesitate to seize it. I found the opportunity to do just that at both Shodor and CHCCS Project Graduation.
Discussion: Mr. Payne said the technology millage allows us to leverage purchases such as these by having the infrastructure in place to support additional mobile devices. On any given day, we average 6,000-8,000 devices on our network; so without the proper infrastructure, we might have to turn down additional purchases that are funded via other sources. Mrs. Everly thanked Mr. Payne and his team in technology. There is an outstanding partnership between the curriculum and the technology departments.
Sheri L. Dew states that “True leaders understand that leadership is not about them but about those they serve. It is not about exalting themselves but about lifting others up.” Leadership, service, and character is and always will be very important to me which is why I believe I qualify and would be a beneficial member to the Valley Heights High School National Honors Society.
Throughout my high school years, I gave myself many opportunities and challenges to demonstrate my worth as a leader. Of all these positions, the one I take pride in the most would be taking the lead role of directing a non-profit ACT organization. Together with my classmate, we had founded the organization to which I took charge of after he left to attend college. During my role as president of the ACT organization, my responsibilities included tutoring, finding teachers, organizing sign ups, as well as procuring space to hold classes.

After I graduate from Sam Houston High School, I plan to continue to finish my Associate's degree in Cyber Security and Information Assurance at San Antonio College in the fall. During that time I also hope to gain an entry-level position with a company that can make good use of the current skill I have obtained. Hopefully an entry level position within the aspect of Computer Forensics or Linux System Administration. During my time here I wish to continue with that company for a couple years to gain a well above average and lengthy experience and distinguish myself from the millennial stereotype that we get bored easily, give up easily, and move jobs every three to six months.
This writer returned to the KUSD high school yearbook class later in the semester. This observer arrived before the start of the class period to discuss where the class was at in terms of completing the yearbook and meeting their deadlines. The cooperating teacher sighed and explained, “December is when this class needs to kick it into high gear. As soon as the holidays are over, all of our deadlines crawl out of the woodwork.” The bell rang, and less than ten students trickled into the classroom from lunch, and the teacher immediately started delegating tasks and alerting students of what needed to be accomplished during the class that day. Most of the students headed to their computers and began working on their assigned pages; some students left the classroom to take pictures, or to get quotes. A student approached the teacher about a college admissions essay that they had sent her for review and she assisted the student in editing it. This took ten minutes, and once completed she said, “Alright, can I get back to working on the yearbook now?” The teacher then began to walk around the classroom to check the children’s pages and correct any errors that were immediately present. She reminded certain students to check their grades, and then said to the class at large, “Don’t bitch at me if you get an F, because you need to get your ads turned in!” Some students laughed, but others looked unsettled. A student complained about another student’s work and the teacher agreed. A student said that she was going to fake a quote for a caption and the teachers
The ritual that I have chosen to write about is my old High School Spring Fling. Music, food, dancing, and punch sounds like a night of fun. that what you call university high school spring fling. It’s a spring party that happens in late April. Students and teachers have a half of day that ends at 12 pm. We all go off to the gym for the remaining of the day to have fun. this day party is hosted by the upcoming senior class in hopes to help raise money for the current senior class. They throw this party so that the money that is raised helps pay for any last minute things for the current senior class. All the staff and students but attend and they must wear the school colors as well. The upcoming senior class always sell snacks and drinks
Living in a small town does not equate to small opportunities. Mendocino has a Sister City located in the Japanese Alps called Miasa, a small rural village with a similar population size. Every year, the two towns alternate on sending local artists and students to learn about the others’ country and culture. In my last year of middle school, It was our turn. Even though 150 students were given the opportunity, only eight signed up including I. Soon after 8th-grade graduation, the eight of us, some chaperones, and four local artists embarked on what would be a spectacular trip to a new world.
The lecture of “Introduction to Freshman Year and Freshman 15 Program” held today can be summarized into three sections: course concept, course expectation and volunteer opportunities at McGill. The lecture is presented by both Dr. Alice Cherestes and Dr. Tim Wilfong. Firstly, the course assists students to develop their skills and self-discipline in studies. Namely, it shortens the transition period for each student adjusting from high school to university. During the lecture, Dr. Alice Cherestes also presented the students with a variety of differences between the high school and university systems; for example, “85%-100%” is regarded as an “A”, and “55%” is the cut-off point for passing in all the four required academic courses including
From the time I was little, I have always loved coming-of-age films. Iconic movies such as Dazed and Confused, Clueless, and The Perks of Being a Wallflower cluttered my room. Each one had a new, life-altering adventure laced within the hour and thirty minutes. No matter what conflict was presented, everything turned out just the way it was planned. As a college freshman, I reflect on my time in high school. This time, along with influential films, formed me into who I am today. Much to my surprise, the experience exceeded all of my expectations that I had from these high school flicks. However, I never did plan for the ending credits.
Let me take the opportunity to congratulate you first for your admission into the Ph.D. program at Alberta Business School. All SMO (Strategic Management and Organization) members are happy for your success. I am a first year Ph.D. student in the same department and will be starting my second year from next fall. The purpose of this message is to encourage you to consider taking a course, ‘Organizational Institutionalism’, that will probably be offered in the Winter 2018- in your second term.
