Goldberg views second amendment as a fundamental right of citizens that cannot be taken away. Goldberg in his report presents various opinions of both sides as well as the relatives that lost their loved ones in recent terrible events. Such as massacre in Aurora, Colorado that took lives of twelve innocent people by underage killers who used legally purchased guns. Goldberg argues that fire arms used in the shooting “bought legally at the gun show, where federal background checks were not required”. Closing “gun-show loophole” on the national level is seen by Goldberg as one of the way to prevent future violence. As an additional measures of gun control that are seen by Goldberg are smaller magazine size of the fire arms, universal background checks that are performed everywhere where guns are being sold, including the gun shows. Lastly, as his main argument, supporting the fire arm ownership, Goldberg addressing the issue of recent massacres, pointing out to the inability of people involved to defend themselves from the

The bill itself is a list of rights which limits the power of the federal government and gives power back to the people in the form of rights and liberties. Some of this rights include freedom of speech, religion, and press, but perhaps the one right that still to this day has many people questioning the meaning behind its wording is the Second Amendment. The Second Amendment states that “a well-regulated militia, being necessary to the security of a free state, the right of the people to keep and bear arms, shall not be infringed” (Acosta, 2008). In short the amendment grants the right to bear arms,

As some politicians look to resolve the gun control issues, with banning them, imposing more restriction to sellers, buyers and owner; some people and politicians consider the second amendment to be relic and should be removed from the constitution. History has shown us time and time again even through all the violence and chaos in the world and America, that there is a reason for the creation of the second amendment. From history of America independence in 1776 to the ratification of the bill of right in 1791 the 2nd amendment still remains relevant form it creation, to modern times, and the protection of America’s future; for the freedom of its inhabitants and citizens. Looking back into ancient history, the history of second amendment, recent and current history we can find clues that will support the relevance of the 2nd amendment. We will also define the second amendment and try to find solutions to our current problems from what our forefathers had say.
Amendment; this is the Amendment that is used as the basis for each American having the right to bear arms. It has certainly been a subject of conversation in the US; proponents argue that no one has the authority to take that right away from US citizens while opponents asking for an amendment that would allow the amendment to acclimate to current realities of the 21st century (Levintova, 2014). To understand the problem with the second amendment, one has to go back to the origin of the said law; the bill of rights was first created in 1789 along with the first ten amendments, to understand the intent of the authors of said amendments.

The Second Amendment of the United States Constitution is the amendment of the United States Bill of Rights that protects the right to keep and bear arms. The amendment clearly states that a well-regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a Free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed. This means that citizens of the United States shall be able to carry firearms within reason to do so, when pertaining to safety. The Second Amendment has been disputed over the years and has become very controversial for many reasons. On one hand, it is considered to be one of the most important amendments in the Constitution because it presents the citizens of the United States with a means to protect themselves. On the other hand, some feel that over the years, certain citizens have over stepped their second amendment rights and as a result, there have been a number of national tragedies with numerous casualties.
The second amendment of the constitution states, “A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.” (Cornell Law) For over fifty years, the amendment has been interpreted to the courts that people individually do not have the right to own gun, but rather that this right is to be regulated by legislatives on the federal,

The Second Amendment states “A well-regulated militia being necessary to the security of a free state, the right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed. The Second Amendment draws its influence and roots back to the English Bill of Rights of 1689. The English Bill of Rights was established to give an individual a natural right of self-defense. The English Bill was born in order to resolve two major conflicts. One of the two issue during the time of English politics, was the power the King of England had, in which he could govern the country and empire without the permission of Parliaments. The Second Issue was the powerful influence and role of the Catholics. King James II of England had stripped its citizens mainly Protestants the right to bear arms. King James II also wanted to keep a permanent army. The bill would be
Ever since the beginning of American Revolution in April 1775, Americans have sought to create a nation with no ties to the British monarch and create and more, perfect union. They decided to create a democratic, republic government consisting of voted officials voted by the people, governed by a system of checks and balances with limited powers and the purpose of providing protection and services to its citizens. However, The Founding Fathers believed that should the government decide to eliminate civil rights, the citizens of the U.S. must be able to defend their rights. The First Congress created the Second Amendment, the right for an individual to keep and bear arms and the right for a state or local government to create and maintain a militia. However, the Second amendment is the most controversial amendment in the Bill of Rights as many people believed that the amendment only allows for state militia and not the ownership of firearms. Firearms have both directly and indirectly affected the American culture with both positive and negative effects. Some organizations have both protected our right to bear arms while others have protested congress to abolish the second amendment.
The Second Amendment to the U.S Constitution is fiercely debated and interpreted differently among American citizens and argued with between the Legislative and Judicial branches of our government. “A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed,” (Brooks). Because of the Second Amendment, citizens have the right to possess firearms and use them for protection. When researching the origin of the Second Amendment, its modern applications, and its relevance in today’s society, one can determine the Second Amendment’s current implications on today’s society.

Armed with .223- caliber assault rifles and semiautomatic handguns, they killed 14 residents and wounded at least 17. Shootings seem to be becoming more habitual, therefore, people fear guns and want to enact gun control laws. Recent attacks from terrorist groups spark the question of who should have the right to own guns. Controversies over interpreting the Second Amendment date back to the turn of the twentieth century because so many viewpoints and regulations have accumulated; it is all in the manner of which interpretation citizens subscribe to- loose verses strict interpretation.
