In these brief three pages, there is a bold calling for spiritual authority, and ways friends of Jesus can authentically experience and acquire that authority. In the beginning, Anderson explained that spiritual authority is manifested from personal experiences and not “secondhand authorities” (pages 50-51). Next, he addressed certain characteristics that “make one fit to be a minister of the gospel” (pg. 51). Finally, he provided a glimpse on what it takes to be an Authentic Child of Light by walking well in the Light. In these three pages, I felt like Margaret Fall in which these words cut to my heart and I wept.
In the beginning, I felt Anderson’s heart when he wrote, “there is no replacement for a deep and abiding experiential relationship with God when it comes to authentic spirituality” (pg. 51). God is always available at the surface level, but it is down deep into the soil of one’s heart where the authentic growth and development will blossom. One must invite and permit God to come in and began that relationship that cultivates authentic encounters that transforms life from dark to light.

It reminded me of a sentence I wrote in a previous essay, Passion for Prisoners, in which I stated that, “Our ability to transform the life of a prisoner comes from our heart, and not the head knowledge that was acquired through a degree.” Back when I wrote the paper, I was focused on prisoners behind four walls in an institution, but the Lord showed me that I too was a prisoner in my own bondage. I have journeyed well with the Lord on these bondages, and I am grateful that His eyes saw me as one fit to be a minister of the
Chaol ran in a few minutes later. He had trouble catching up to her on a horse, a horse. When Chaol walked in, Celaena lunged towards Chaol, with her dagger in her hand, and tried to stab Chaol. He fell back. “You did this!” Celaena said, glancing towards Nehemia’s dead body on the bed. Still on top of Chaol, Celaena pushed all her weight on the dagger in her hand. She was struggling. It was like an invisible force was stopping her. When she glanced at Dorian, the guards in the room grabbed Celaena and Chaol told them to throw her into the dungeons. A few days had passed and Celaena was out of the dungeons and back in her rooms, though she never came out. A few more days passed by, and Celaena wanted to find out more about the King’s plans.
Small or big, everything we do in life is part of our journey. Reg Harris’ “The Hero’s Journey” describes the voyage one takes throughout life to grow and change as a person. He breaks the journey down into eight steps leading to the return. It starts out as a goal that isn’t always easy to reach, one goes through hardship and personal doubts only to succeed and become a better person. An example of this journey can be found in the movie, Troy through the character Achilles. Achilles is a strong fearless warrior in the movie, Troy who goes through “The Hero’s Journey” and ends up with a change of heart.
The Hunger Games, Star Wars, and A Wrinkle in Time all relate to the Hero’s Journey in different ways, but there are also similarities in the approach of Hero’s Journey. The refusal in Hunger Games and Star Wars are alike in the fact that Katniss and Luke’s choice of refusal is for the best of their family. Meg, however, has no choice and regrets going until she realizes that she will get her dad back. Crossing the threshold is different because Katniss has time to soak up the information and Luke just has to leave right away. During the point of the Test/ Allies/ Enemies, the stories are different by the intensity of the events; but they are also alike. The Hero’s Journey throughout the Hunger Games, Star Wars, and A Wrinkle in Time all have many differences and similarities in the approach of the Hero’s Journey.
Today was my first lesson in humility. Some of the elder Monks had reprimanded me for my selfish thoughts and words. This was my first transgression and thus I was taught my lesson behind closed doors.
The new Christian Counsellor: A fresh Biblical and Transformational Approach is a book that aims to teach people and empower them to take possession of their souls in the contemporary life of a multi-faceted approach design. The authors are seasoned Christian counsellors who have a vast experience in dealing with people’s psycho-spiritual issues from a Christian point of view (Hawkins & Clinton, 2015 p.6). Through their noble ideas, the professors seek to guide their reads through the power of the Holy Spirit in their lives, under the influence of God’s word and in a manner that is supportive of the accountability ideas of the entire community.
What people expect from us is to be witnesses of living faith that is rooted in prayer and scripture (52). Ruddy’s brings into consideration what Paul VI said in his apostolic exhortation Evangelii Nuntiandi that: “modern man listens to witnesses more than to teachers, and if he does not listen to teachers, it is because they are witnesses.”
In his highly influential book, The Forgotten Ways1, Hirsch maintains that every Christian has within them Apostolic Genius that needs to be awakened – the ability to be a part of transforming society through an organic missional lifestyle. This awakening is deemed to be critical since
women on the couch. “The aging process is apparent to us in the first days of life. Those of us that are cursed age slower and stop at 30.”
Shadow and James took over and helped by speaking soft words of encouragement to them. Shadow found that if he sang their favorite chant Rae seemed to calm down. James noticed and started in with Shadow.
Screams filled the air. Only then did Jessie Grant realize they were his. He had been having this dream for some time, his dad’s and mom’s death. Before they boarded a cruiser when he was seventeen, his parents were his best friends, now he had nothing.
My hands were sweating against the microphone in my hand, I could feel the anxiety throughout the air on the big stage. The only thing separating me, I mean us, from the large crowd filled with haters, supporters, and who knows what else; was the velvet red curtain that she knew in no time would disappear, revealing me and my friends to our fate.
The way to my birth place is a long, dreadful and prosperous journey. This place is meaningful and carries lots of memories. Starting with the Harley Davidson bikes that is the first attraction tourist’s love. Leading to the horrifying, empty, and isolated buildings with homeless people in my peripheral vision. In addition to the unpleasant noises from fireworks, and gun shots which sound so close that people want to take cover at any given moment. This place gets so cold that some people have to wear two pair of pants, three shirts, a hat, earmuffs and maybe even five pair of socks just to keep their toes from getting frost bite.
Dr. Galindo’s approach to leading us was very open and reflective, his feed back was light and cautious, which had elements of revelation, education and healing. I believe he pushed us to self-awareness, causing us to have an introspective view of who we are and why we are. Reading our online post the first two weeks, I realized that I was very proficient in analyzing the working and dynamics of the church, however there was not a lot of contemplation about my intricate part as a cog in congregational machine. Dr. Galindo gave enough feed-back that inevitably caused me to ask bigger questions or dig deeper into the books and other sources to satisfy my many questions. It made we realize that I am interested in systematic theology. I love to uncover dynamics and unashamedly talk about the hard stuff because it is necessary for healing — I love to share the stories of God and love to find the systemic workings of organizations as well as individuals. Knowledge is
Scientists say rain was created from a process called the water cycle, little do they know rain was created by a young Goddess with a broken heart, named Raina. Raina lived in the clouds with her family. She was a young Goddess with beautiful dark hair that shined in the sun, and fierce green eyes. Raina was lonely, although she was surrounded by love from her family she desired more. Raina desired a husband, a significant other to spend her days with. Raina was so excited to go on this adventure in hopes of finding true love, she decided to confide the news of this adventure to her family, the only people she had ever loved. One night during supper Raina stood up and announced, “ I have some news, before any of you say something let me finish speaking. Although you all love me dearly I desire a compain, a husband to love me. I have decided to go on an adventure to find this true love” Overjoyed Raina’s mother Willow, stood up and exclaimed, “ My only daughter is going to find love! She will find a man whom someday she will hopefully marry. I have been waiting for this day forerver.” A tall burly man with a rounded stomach, who had been quietly observing the girls, finally stood up and said, “Who will the lucky God be?” Raina was extremely disheartend once her father uttered those words, for Raina wanted to marry a human not a God, Raina had found Gods egotistical and uncaring. Raina sighed and said, “ I do not want to marry a God father, I desire a human.” Greatly
When I was 10 years old Rev. Holland Vaughn looked into my eyes and said, “Michael, you are going to be a pastor one day.” I found his prophetic pronouncement humorous. One, because I had no intention of ever becoming a pastor, and two because even at that age I was already running with neighborhood gangs and engaged in very unchristian activities. As the acolyte, week after week I carried my candle lighter and sat beside him on the altar. I watched the people laugh, cry, fall asleep, and occasionally shout an enthusiastic “amen!” From the “preacher’s bench” behind the pulpit. I observed this master plie his trade, using tradition, experience, and reason, to bring the Bible to life. Subconsciously I was reasoning through my own theology,
