Storytelling is an outlet that allows an author to describe his or her life experiences in a unique way in hopes that their readers take something meaningful away from the story. My Music: Explorations of Music in Daily Life is an interview style story which consists of Steve, a fifty-seven-year-old salesman, being asked some questions about how music has impacted his life by his daughter. Steve shows examples of initiating young people into the lore of the tribe by explaining how music has increased his patriotism, brought back many memories, and affected his experiences throughout his life. During the time of World War II and The Great Depression, Steve explained how music was used as sort of a security, and it even increased his patriotism.
Storytelling is something we all do naturally. It is an innate ability that has been practiced since the dawn of civilization. Stories can be told through literature, visuals, performances, or word of mouth. As time elapses, the way in which we tell stories involves. Although, the way in which we tell stories change, the essence of them remain by incorporating the basic elements of good storytelling.
Music is like the wardrobe to Narnia. It sends an individual into a whole new world and causes one to forget about the world and problems they are living in now. In the novel A Long Way Gone: Memoir of a Boy Soldier by Ishmael Beah, Beah becomes a child soldier unwillingly during a civil war in Sierra, Leone when he is twelve years old. All he had was his rap music that kept him going. In Ishmael Beahs novel he uses detail and diction to highlight how music provides a means by which ones life can be saved by the power of music, can temporarily escape the harsh realities of life, and can connect to happier times.
Storytelling. A form of communication that is engrained in history, and a form of communication that tells history. Stories can vary in length and genre. However, one variable that remains constant is their ability to give new information to process. Authors John Updike, J.E. Wideman, and T.C. Boyle use their stories, A&P, Doc’s Story, and Rara Avis, respectively, to do just that. With some active reading, these short, but meaningful stories can empower readers to have a greater apprehension of real life situations. After taking an in depth look at these three pieces of literature, each contains themes of detachment, idolization, and handling losses.
In the American society, storytelling continues to play a critical role. Each story, storytellers tells, serves a deep meaning towards their life and provides a medium, allowing the storytellers to keep the information they hold as a remembrance. Storytelling offers a pathway that allows ones to stimulate continuous learning, development, connection and to look ahead to their future. Storytelling is an expression of power providing pathways to spiritual knowledge.

Storytelling helps other people to emotionally connect themselves to the author so that they know they are not the only ones who are experiencing a painful or exciting experience, and are able to share the same emotions. It often helps other people to know what they should do in order to get over it when it comes to a painful experience. Maya Angelou’s I Know Why The Caged Bird Sings explores the life of Maya Angelou and the struggles she has been throughout her childhood to her adulthood. Richard Wagemese’s Indian Horse explores the life of Saul Indian Horse and the struggles he has been through after departing from his family. The power of storytelling can unfold questions which ask the audience of how and why are the events are unfold the
Music is the only medium that blesses both man and God at the same time and as such to see it as an entertainment factor within our worship services is a gross misunderstanding of its purpose. Music is made up of three elements: melody, harmony, and rhythm. Mankind is also made up of three parts: spirit, soul and body (1 Thess 5:23). It can be argued that music and the triune, or trichotomy, of mankind are intrinsically linked i.e. melody is likened to the spirit, harmony to the soul and rhythm to the body.
Music has impacted my life in many ways. Through music I have learned that you can do and have whatever you want as long as you put the work and effort to try. As a little kid, I have never been competitive, until I came in contact with the trumpet. When I join my middle school band I learned how to be the best at something and started to learned how to be competitive as I started moving up in high school and going to competitions. Wanting that made me put so much dedication to it. Countless of hours have been on practicing the same things over and over again, giving myself no limits on what to practice. Music basically has showed me how much effort you have to put in, so I can get closer and closer to achieve my goal. As a result, I joined
Music is one of the greatest human creations (DeNora, 2000). It plays an integral role in human society worldwide irrelevant of race, gender, age, wealth or well-being (Kemper & Danhauer, 2005). Indeed according to Batt-Rawden (2010), playing different music in diverse situations can introduce listeners to the desired and relevant atmosphere. In most circumstances, music is played to entertain people, but it can also form part of an accompaniment in sad situations. Music is often the fulcrum that influences the listener by creating a unique ambience and atmosphere (Bernatzky, Presh, Anderson, & Panksepp, 2011). Chamorro-Premuzic and Furnham, (2007) adds that music can be a medium to enhance communication,

Music is defined differently for each individual. It is the universal language that speaks to us all, but in different ways. It is one of the few genres that can instantly transport a person back to the past. Music is also an art of sound which expresses ideas, thoughts, and emotions in significant forms through the elements of rhythm, melody, and harmony. It is the design of giving structural form and rhythmic pattern to combinations of sounds produce instrumentally and vocally. To me, music brings a sense of calmness, happiness, and peacefulness. Music is the absolute bread of life because it feeds my soul.
College days are here and right away I’m not loving what would turn out to be the biggest blessing of all; 7:45 AM class every morning. I thought going to college meant pretending to be an adult while on the parent’s dime. Late night partying, girls, girls, and no responsibility. I woke up every morning dreaming I was still asleep with girls, girls and well, girls. The only redeeming quality was that the early class was associated with my music composition major; music theory.
Music, it's a part of everyone's life. From childhood sing-a-long songs, to garage grunge music, and everything in between music is everywhere. Growing up with an extremely musical background it was in my genes that I would become a musician. Playing music has helped me become the person I am by being a release for my anger, broadening my future and make new friends..
They way stories are told may morph, but never will storytelling cease. From their people skills to their memories, there is no argument that storytellers possess boundless talent and intelligence. They were the first educators. And now, storytelling is a large part of everyday life. The news in the morning, the gossip throughout the day, the casual response to the casual “What’s up?” – It’s all a form of storytelling. Our lives are steeped in it. In almost every conversation a story is told. At every turn a story is born. So we all are storytellers, and the world is our audience, just waiting to hear the gospel leave our
Media takes all forms of shapes, from video games to music it influences people daily because we are always surrounded by it. Music especially impacts individuals because in a lot of ways it can say what we want to say in times when we as individuals cannot say it. In those times we lean on music to help us understand the hardship we are going through, or as a mechanism to face our feelings or to block them out. Interpersonal violence which is defined as an individual using power over another in the form of violence whether that be emotional, physical, or sexual. With the many forms of interpersonal violence it’s apparent that it has been expressed in the form of music for quite a while, and sometimes not always in a preventative way. By
