The play Macbeth is about true ambition and powerless character. Macbeth, the main character of the play, has a weak and convincible personality. Throughout the play other characters such as his wife, impact his hideous actions and paranoid mind. Once the three witches tell Macbeth about his fortune and becoming the new king, Macbeth isn't as convinced to take the risks of earning the position which consisted of killing the current king Duncan. These decisions fall in Mason's hands because their pop isn’t home to do it for him without their pop Mason is pretty much Tex’s father and has been his whole life pretty much. S.E. Hinton is commonly referred to as one of the best authors of all time when it comes to teen literature. In fact, she received the Margaret A. Edwards award, which honors authors who have written novels that capture the hearts of young adults and provides insight to their actual lives. Being a young adult myself, I can honestly say that she is my favorite author of all time. Her other works including The Outsiders, That Was Then This Is Now, and Tex helped initiate my love for English in school. Even though my love for S.E. Hinton and her work has always been a constant in my life, I began reading Taming the Star Runner with very high hopes and was left disappointed. The book takes place in the wild west of Wyoming. The character of the Virginian is introduced in Medicine Bow when on business. While in Medicine Bow he plays cards with a cowboy named Trampas. Trampas accuses the Virginian of cheating to which the Virginian pulls out a gun in the effort to stop the accusations. This causes Trampas to develop a hatred for the Virginian and that’s when their rival began. Throughout the book there is conflict between Trampas and the Virginian eventually leading to the Virginian killing due to a threat that Trampas made toward him.
To Kill a Mockingbird is set in Maycomb County, Alabama in the 1930s. There is a myriad of families in this small county. Blacks, farmers, businessmen, and strong single women all call Maycomb County home.
