I have chosen to do an essay on “ Fidget Spinners: What They Are, How They Work and Why the Controversy.” I have chosen this article because fidget spinners are a huge thing right now; also, I believe this is included in the science category because it talks about kids with mental disabilities using them. The first part if the article talks and explains the controversy of the toy. They are small ball bearing devices that, when spun, create a satisfying feel to the user. Spinners started as tools used to calm or focus people with attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), anxiety, and autism; but have recently become toys for people with none things, especially students. Though it cannot yet be a fact that spinners help kids with autism,
Fidget spinners are the biggest craze in everywhere, not just in schools. Teachers must have had more than enough of them with children they teach having them, their own children having them and even themselves being convinced into having one. They are now the one thing that teachers must hate more than students disrupting the class, Untucked shirts and those messy assignment sheets. Some students are only using fidget spinners as toys and are not listening to the teachers and not doing their because their attention is so greatly placed on the spinner spinning for up to 4 minutes. For other student’s the spinner are a great benefit because they are still listening to teachers and doing their work but the one thing that teachers still don’t like is the noise, which is an irritation buzzing sound.
This paper will summarize the ERR articles from the bulleted topics and issues. This paper will also include summaries on toys that may encourage violence and aggression, toys that may promote pro-social behavior, gender stereotyping in toy selection, and cultural stereotyping or, lack of cultural awareness in toys.
One ¼ inch diameter red rod with slots at either end, one unfinished ⅔ inch wooden spool with 8 holes around the side and one ¼ inch hole in the center, and a ⅔ inch plastic orange connecting rod. The plastic piece was newer than the wooden pieces. The red rod fit into all the holes in the wooden spool, as well as the ends of the short, plastic connector piece. The possibility of fitting the pieces together in numerous configurations leads one to believe this is an open-ended construction toy. Tinker Toys were developed in the progressive era. In a time of industry and invention, Tinker Toys nourished children’s creative drive.
.Fidget get should not be allowed in school because it causes a distraction in class. One way it causes a distraction is when a teacher is instructing a student brings out a fidget spinner and he or she attention is on the spinner not on the lesson.Second reason why fidget spinner is a distraction by kids have challeges. It is only for people who has ADHD and Autism. So in my opinion fidget spinners should be
Fidget spinners should be banned in schools by so many injuries from it . As a result of pg.27 “ a boy from Australia got a nasty eye injury from his fidget spinner”.Also it’s difficult to focus on what’s going on around you while looking at a objects that spins. According to pg.27 “Many teachers have told that students tend to focus on all spinning going on instead of working at hand”. Plus they’re similar to bringing toys but just more dangerous to spin with especially in a building full of people.
Fidget spinners are supposed to be a tool that helps people concentrate. Also, some believe this to be true, others not so much. In the article, “Should Fidget Spinners Be Allowed at School?”, Principal Schwartz states that, “You mentioned that fidget spinners help with concentration. The people selling spinners may make this claim, but there is no concrete evidence that the claim is true.” In fact, the manufacturers of the fidget spinners make this claim in order to make money.
The types of toys children play with can affect how they develop. Toys can help or hinder a child’s development in intelligence, social skills and personality. Certain characteristics may be genetically entwined in a human being, but some characteristics and behaviors can be learned, from parents, surroundings, and the toys with which a youngster plays. Elise Moore, author of “How Do Toys Aid Development”, stated “if play is the work of the child, toys are the child’s tools” (Moore, 2).
The purpose of this task is to individually design an educational activity based around technical influences. The activity implemented must be appropriate for a junior primary child. The preparation of the task needs to be considered along side whether the health and well-being of children is enhanced by use of technology. Technology has a significant impact on our society through the usage of technical devices incorporated into one’s regular routine. Each individual has 45 minutes to form a final product with a child while teaching them safety awareness factors.
First of all in the article (WWW.Washingtonpost.com) the title says schools are banning fidget spinners, calling them nuisances and even dangerous by Valerie Strauss. In the article is says this about fidget spinners “They can be distracting when the kids use them as toys to do tricks.” What this is saying is that when the kids in class use their fidget spinners in class as toys and it makes the other kids not focus on what they are doing. How it can be distracting to other kids is because they have
First, I believe Fidget Spinners should be allowed at school because they help people concentrate. I believe this because, it gives you something to focus on. It helps people who can't sit still have
Last of all, I believe that we should keep Fidget Spinners because they benefit all different types of students in various different ways in the classroom. For example, Fidget Spinners allow the user to focus or pay attention better so, that the student is not focusing on moving or fidgeting around. It also, helps to occupy the child in various ways while still being able to learn without distraction. Finally, I’ve tried Fidget Spinners every once in awhile and I have found them to be surprisingly helpful. I was calm all of a sudden, even just after a couple of spins I just felt so relieved of all of the stress and anxiety.
Fidget spinners can help kids concentrate better in school and outside of school. Liam said that “ It might seem like we are playing but the spinners are actually helping us focus.” I'm not
Fidget spinners have taken over classrooms all over the country, and teachers have come to see these toys as a bad distraction in class. Kids pay more attention to the spinner rather than the subject in that class. The fad of fidget spinners has become very controversial, with many different points of view. Children should not have these fidget spinners, especially in class, because they are distracting, they can possibly become dangerous, and they have gone from a tool to help people with ADHD to a toy that most kids have.
Fidget toys are used than just concentration, and Teachers and parent’s don't like that. I know that because there is a lot of schools that have already banned fidget spinners from school. Even some parents that say they are really happy that they banned the fidget spinners because they believe the spinners are used for toys and are a distraction in class. My evidence #1 supports my main idea because Ellison is a Principle that believes spinners are a distraction. I am showing that Teachers and also principles don't like the idea of fidget spinners. I am not saying that all adults don't like the idea fidget toys, of course there is some adults that do like the idea and are allowed to be used in the school. The teachers say the students
