Management decisions and control are the focus of the chapter. The first concept was decision making, which simply is the process of choosing a course of action regarding the business. In the book, we are shown a 9 stage process which entailed problem perception, problem identification, problem formulation, search for alternatives, evaluation of alternatives, choice of alternatives, start of operation, implementation and control. Last summer when I interned with the Golden State Warriors there was a person whose designated job was to make decisions on what the office was going to have for lunch; and at the same time there was the CFO who sat with teams everyday making decision regarding the teams move from Oakland to San Francisco and used
1. Read `Spotlight on Management` on pages 133-149 and the practice lesson `The Real World` on page 152. Please discuss the following questions in detail. Your response to each question should consist of: a minimum word count of 250 words and at least three (3) scholarly sources (1 resource can be the textbook):
The Oklahoma City Thunder routed the Boston Celtics with a 130-109 victory at the TD Garden on Wednesday night.
When you think of the current NBA, chances are you may have thought of the Golden State Warriors. The Warriors have been a dominant team in the last couple of years. It is a great franchise. They have a great history as a team, great players, and very great success.
Swish! You hear that a lot if your a Golden State Warriors fan. The Warriors have won 5 NBA titles and are fourth in the most titles won. First being the Boston Celtics with 17.
Managers within organizations are faced with the challenges daily of making excellent decisions. In everyday life we are challenged in making sound decision, decision that will last for a life time. Folk often wonder after making a decision if it was the right choice, will it affect the people around me, was this a good choice for my family, and will the decision affect them. In order to be an effective manager you have to possess the skill of outstanding decision making skills. In order for one to be successful within their personal life they may also need to possess an understanding of effective decision making. The decision- making process should be one that makes a positive change. Can the decision making process work
The Golden State Warriors' recent NBA title will prove to be a turning point in basketball's evolution. While the game has been steadily drifting away from the Goliath vs. Goliath monotony of center-oriented post play, league-MVP Stephen Curry & Co. shattered several prevailing NBA myths when they finished off Lebron James' Cleveland Cavaliers 105-97 in Game 6.
In the era of hot takes, comment sections and social media outbursts being used as methods to gain attention, I can say from the bottom of my heart that none of those are the reasons I present my against the grain opinion of the Golden State Warriors. If I’m about to come off as a bitter Cleveland Cavaliers fan (I am), then so be it.
The Golden State warriors are a team in the NBA western conference. They were known as the Philadelphia Warriors in 1946-1962, then in 1962-1971 they were the San Francisco Warriors, now they are the Golden State Warriors. Their home staduim is Oracle Arena. The team manager is Bob Myers, the head coach is Steve Kerr, and the owner is Joe Lacob, and Peter Guber.
It’s no surprise that when a team starts to break records at a rapid pace, people start to wonder whether they are the on of the best teams all time, if not the greatest. That’s what the current Golden State Warriors team is doing right now. People did not expect them to be playing at such a high level after their historic year last year. They started off this year with a bang, behind reigning MVP Stephen Curry, and they are yet to slow down. They are currently on pace to break the single season record set by the Chicago Bulls in 1996 behind Michael Jordan, and this run is starting people to debate whether this Warriors team is better than the Bulls team from 1996, who are currently considered the greatest team of all time. Many different claims have been brought up, such as the Bulls are better because they had Michael Jordan or the Warriors are better because they have a deeper team. Those supporting the Warriors have agued that the records they are breaking and the pace that they are
Later this year the Golden State Warriors were uninvited to the White House because some of the players chose not to stand during the National Anthem. However the problem is that Trump thinks they should get fired for not standing up. People should just a chose because it what they believe in. Although yes some people may say “stand up” or “people fought for us to be free”. If people chose to not do something let them it's their choose.
As stated by Prasad (2008), the managers should identify the different choices available in order to get most acceptable outcome of a decision. From searching different alternatives the managers can evade blocks in operations as choices are suitable if a particular idea goes wrong. Khanka (2000) expresses the view that selections can developed from in many ways such as can get from sources like experience, do training other organizations, and take others ideas and suggestions related in problems. Furthermore to improve alternatives solution the managers may investigation the signs of a problem for clues or fall back on intuition or result that stated by Griffin and Moorhead (2010). For an example in marketing department a non-programmed decision is compulsory the manager have to produce alternatives for raise market share. As McShane and Von Glinow (2000) pointed out that in a programmed decision is a standard operations is not to generate choice but can take out from the documented that already saved. Next an organizer should search the mission of a decision. In other words they need to define what is to be accomplished by it (Quick & Nelson, 2013). The decision criteria are important as mentioned by Dubrin (2002). The several criteria are consumers must aware of varies in quality of products, there not happen inflation, workers must consider the quality of improvements and lastly job satisfaction should not be reduce.
The focus of my term paper is the decision making process used by today's top-level managers. Top-level managers, such as Chief Executive Officers (CEOs), Chief Operations Officers (COOs), and Chief Financial Officers (CFOs), must make critical decisions on a daily basis. Their choices and the resulting outcomes affect the company, the employees, and the stakeholders. Due to the high importance of their decisions, the process they use to reach them merits a close examination.
The decision making process can also be divided into seven steps, where the first step will basically involve defining the problem. These steps allow for the main issue to be identified, and therefore the manager should make sure that it has been done correctly. After the problem identification stage, we can move forward and identify the limiting factors, and in this the manager should make use of all resources available to do it the best way. Some of the resources include information, time, personnel, equipment and supplies. Using this, managers can be able to identify the factors that might hinder them from achieving their goals.
“Management is the planning, organizing, leading, and controlling of mankind and other resources to achieve organizational goals efficiently and effectively (University, p 4 2011)”. The greatest achievement of an organization is to provide goods and services that customer’s value. The managerial department of an organization has the power to determine the performance of the employee’s, which directly affects the quality of the service or product that is being supplied to the customer. “Managerial tasks are essential for effective management, which involves planning, organizing, leading, and controlling (University, p 6 2011)”. Planning is the process of identifying the suitable goals of an organization and how they will be implemented in the company. Organizing is the procedure that determines the departments of an organization. When departments have been established the next step is to decide who will work best at a particular job. The development of organization inside a business will form the organizational structure for the company. “Leading is the ability to inspire and organize individuals to work as a team to complete the goals of the business in an efficient and effective manner (University, p 9 2011)”. Controlling is being able to assess the procedures of a company and eliminate or change any strategy plans that are not showing high- performance levels. Controlling may consist of monitoring
3. Decision-making. The process of control is complete when corrective actions are taken. This involves making right decisions as to what types of follow up actions are to be taken. This will lead to accomplishment of organisation objectives. According to W.T. Ierome, "Control is needed both to simplify the making of subsequent decisions and to ensure the realisation of the objectives implicit in the original long-range policy decisions" .
