Daniel Emerson enlisted in the army and fought in the revolutionary war. Using Daniel’s Bravery, Knowledge, and Determination he helps the American militia win the American Revolution. Dan is a very strong and fearless individual. During the book Dan is joining the army as a general showing no fear of the British army (Rinaldi 18). Dan must recruit seventy ordinary people to become soldiers of the American militia. All though some people join most leave the war out of their lives which means that no ordinary person will just join up with the army. That is the main ways that Dan is a brave and fearless

The book 1776 by David McCullough tells the story of the military aspects of the American Revolution. McCullough writes the book from both the British and American point of views, creating a better understanding of what both sides were undergoing during the war.
The woods runner by Gary Paulsen was written to show some reality of the Revolutionary War. The story is of a young thirteen year old boy named Samuel, whose life changes in an instant. All caused from this great war. He didn’t even war was happening until a few days before it impacted his little settlement. The settlement is in Pennsylvania on the edge of a forest. The ship was cold and food was scarce. It was no condition for a little ten year old boy. He was a prisoner of the war with little hope. Snatched out of his life he was helpless and was destined to die while others lived. He asked to himself, “Why me? Why not someone else?” His death actually happened in history, but also in the novel, My Brother Sam Is Dead. Maureen Davis - “Great book depicting the true story of a young man that volunteered to fight for his country. Written with a dose of self humor. I enjoyed it front to back and recommend it to anyone interested in the life of a revolutionary war solider.”
In The Red Badge of Courage, Henry shows immaturity by enlisting in the army and being naïve about the war. Henry explains that since he was young, he dreamed about the war of the bloody battles that the soldiers fought in. He thinks fighting in a war will make him a hero and achieve glory. He enlisted in the army, although his mother opposed the decision. However, when he makes it to the camp, he had to wait many weeks in the camps until he was called up to battle, and he started to doubt his place in the army.
David McCullough author of 1776 puts faces and feelings to the events of the Revolutionary war making this an exciting novel even when the ending is known. Acting as a companion to an earlier work of McCullough’s, John Adams, 1776 is a strictly military view of the era versus political. Although the reader may have to get accustomed to the vast amount of characters introduced McCullough makes sure that those you are supposed to remember you will. Every character introduced is described incredibly well and throughout the novel you begin to feel as if you know the character and are going through the battle with them, specifically General George Washington with whom the reader emphasizes constantly with throughout the war.

This is a first person memoir of what it was like for a regular person living in a war zone, and dealing with the everyday fears of food shortage, low morale, and danger of attack. This is something that many people in todays world could not handle because even some of the old guys in the

In the book, Navigating Early, by Clare Vanderpool, connections are made between a few of the characters through family relationships and occupations, creating a story about a young boy named, Jack, and his adventure with his classmate, Early, across the mountains in Maine. While Early goes in search of his brother, Fisher, who supposedly died in the war. Jack, on the other hand, goes to escape the boys boarding school since his father, Captain Baker, didn’t show up to take him on a trip for spring break and was left alone at the school.
