In Fred Reed's paper “Why Blame Mexico?”, he discusses the various reasons why illegal immigration into the United States is America’s fault. He uses the example of America legalizing tobacco yet disapproving of smoking as a way to demonstrate his point. He further goes on to say that America rewards Mexicans for crossing the border by giving them jobs and driver licenses, educating their children, and by making it easier for them as a whole. Mexicans would not be wise if they did not take advantage of so great an opportunity. If Americans did not provide the illegal immigrants with jobs they would not be coming to America. These people are illegally crossing because the citizens of the United States want them here. Either society wants
The Mexican American war was a war between America and Mexico forces that took place in 1846 and ending in 1847. The mexican american war took place in Mexico, the war was that America thought that they were justified in going into war with mexico. The Mexican American war started when arrived that Mexican soldiers had fired upon American troops the mexican border of the Rio Grande, this War is so significant because of America winning the war and gaining even more land to America. America was not justified into going to war with mexico.
In 1840, the first baseball diamond was laid out in Cooperstown, NY, less than ten years later, the Mexican War began. The Mexican War took place during 1846 - 1848. It happened in Texas when Mexican troops fired at trespassing American troops. Events leading to the war are the Texas Revolution and the Texas and American treaty. So the question is, was the United States justified to go to war with Mexico. The United States was not justified to go to war with Mexico. They maybe could have been justified, but they weren’t. The United states was not justified to go to war with Mexico because they stole Texas from Mexico, they broke Mexican law, and they trespassed on their land.
The war started when the General sent John Slidell to Mexico City to buy California which furiated the Mexicans so they sent him back. When Mexico had fired on U.S, troops on the “Texas” side, the President found a reason to go to war with them even though the Mexicans were trying to protect the border from them. In the end, the U.S. won the war. Later on, Mexico achieved independence of the Spanish Crown and the U.S. had begun to move into Texas. I believe that the United States was not justified to go to war with Mexico because the U.S. had made an act of a declaration of war and Mexico was protecting themselves.
These are just some examples of what and who tries to prevent immigrants from crossing over. Some do successfully cross over. Many Mexicans come for the search of a better life for their kids and family whether its to send them to school or supplies and uniform. Whatever the

The United States and Mexico border fence has been a recent debate with the people because of the irresistible flow of Mexican illegal in the United States. Living in the lower Rio Grande Valley of Texas, I may be able to see a huge wall or fence being built on our border with Mexico. Other than the economic recession we have to this day, people still have their views and opinions expressed on another topic, the “segregation” wall. Some express opinions on whether this wall will keep illegal immigrants out, others speak on how this is a total disaster both financially and emotionally as in this wall being referred to as “racist”.
Illegal immigration has been a huge problem of United States for a long period of time. There are two common ways of how people come to US illegally; first is to cross the border between Mexico and US; second is to overstay when they come to US as a visitor. Why do people want to come to the United States if they are going to be here illegally? Simply, because those illegal immigrants want to have a better life than what they have back in their homeland; but the question here is why then did people come to the United States illegally if they are not getting any benefits? As I asked myself this question, my mind begun to think about the
The Mexican War of 1846 was not a justifiable war based on the Just War Theory of jus ad bellum principles. The Just War Theory addresses the political leaders that are in charge of initiating war with another entity. The rules of applying the jus ad bellum to a war are based on six areas that address whether a war can be considered a just or unjust war. The most important rule is examining Just Cause as it sets the way for the rules that follow. Right Intention to go to war based on their Just Cause, Proper Authority and Public Declaration to determine if they could declare war and Last Resort being the final decision made if all other outlets were exhausted. As well as determining the Probability of Success in the
Christian Tooley Dr. Busby EN 231 6 February 2024 Revenge and Justice in Medea Euripides’ Medea explores the idea of revenge and justice, presenting a portrayal of a woman rejected and her persistent pursuit of revenge. Set in ancient Greece, the play questions the traditional concepts of morality and investigates the repercussions of pursuing revenge. Euripides' Medea raises concerns related to the nature of justice and the human desire for revenge. Medea's desire for revenge against her husband, Jason, is driven by a deep feeling of betrayal. After giving up everything for Jason, Medea is abandoned and replaced with Glauce, a younger, more desirable wife.
This year’s election cycle brought heated debates and discussions about many things; “the wall”, free trade, NAFTA, immigration issues, borders security and policy issues. Regardless of which side of the political isle you stand, which way the political winds sway in Washington D.C., one thing is certain not to change with the election cycle, and that is, the actual physical border between The United States and Mexico. Therefore, if we can’t change that, and we can’t, then there needs to be solutions to problems that continue to exist between the two sovereign countries. Trade and Security are two of the most important factors for neighboring countries and they must not be ignored. Beyond just good political, diplomatic, and strategic vision it is important to understand there are cultural, education and diversity complexities which takes tremendous and often times delicate maneuvering to come together for the greater good of both economies and governments, as millions of people rely on successful trade agreements and security.
The Mexican Revolution began November 20, 1910, and ended on May 21, 1920. The revolution was against the regime of Porfirio Diaz who reigned for 35 years, after Mexico gained its independence from Spain. and was not a good president in the sense that he failed to support the middle and lower classes of Mexico. It was run by the middle (some in the middle (A very a little amount) and all in the lower classes, and they were all influenced by Francisco I. Madero. Although the lower classes didn’t originally full on oppose Diaz they felt neglected as a people. Madero saw this and sought out to influence the people of the country to revolt, so that they could then shift their views completely. Madero writes the Plan de San Luis Potosi, which was a political document written by Madero to describe how he was wrongly imprisoned by Diaz in order for him to lose the election. Madero also wrote the document to spread new ideas on what democracy was, and how to eradicate corruption in Mexico’s government. With the publication of this document support for Diaz and his presidency easily disappeared eventually causing him to resign. Madero then ran for president and won the election properly. But he only reigned for two years before being assassinated, by none other than the military governors, military, and lower classes because Madera failed to make any change in the social classes. A key factor that lead to his assignation was that the

Fred Reed’s “Why Blame Mexico?” published in The American Conservative on March 10, 2008, by freelance journalist Fred Reed’s position on America’s Mexican immigration issue is its own creation. Reed views America as saying one thing but doing another. The American government fails to enforce immigration laws, securing the border effectively, charging fees to employers who hire illegal immigrants, or limiting its benefits to Mexican immigrants. These government benefits include: “citizenship for [their] kids born here, school for [their] kids, public assistance, [and] governmental documents in Spanish for [their] convenience.” (46) This leniency and equality of life gains are virtually irresistible to immigrants, so they cross the border to
In “So Mexicans are Taking Jobs from Americans,” Jimmy Santiago Baca defends and shuts down the stereotype of Mexican workers. Many Americans hold resentment towards Mexicans presence in the work force, and believe that they are taking jobs away. However, many Americans don’t realize that these Mexican workers fill jobs that others do not want and are usually paid less than an American would be paid. In the beginning of the poem Baca addresses the American stereotype of Mexicans taking jobs from Americans in a very sarcastic manner. He then continues by telling the truth, that Mexicans are actually not taking jobs. He explains how Mexicans come to America to make a living for their family, which
