In the novel "Wonder” by RJ Palacio, August’ point of you makes the reader empathize with August based on the awful things his classmates speak to him. The people at school call August names like “Ratboy. Freak. Monster. Freddy Krueger. E.T. [...] Mutant.” (Palacio 79). He mentions that he has blocked out the feeling of getting made fun of for the way he looks. These kids are no longer juvenile children, they are able to understand the harmful words they say. His class does not look past his face into his heart, showing that they are not yet ready
Nickolas Jermyn Mr.Ward 19 December, 2017 W.W Theme Essay for Wonder Don't judge a book by its cover its a life lesson we all learn. Don't judge someone by the way they look or the clothes they wear. In the story, Wonder by R.J Palacio takes this theme a lot deeper. The author takes the reader on an adventure with a young boy named August or Auggie.
The theme of the book Wonder is to not treat people differently based on their looks. Raquel Palacio, the author, writes about kind people like Jack, helping August and mean people like Julian, hurting him. Julian is the antagonist of this story because he makes fun of August and makes him feel less than everyone else. Jack is the main protagonist and becomes a good friend of August. Throughout the whole story Jack helps keep August safe from Julian’s insults and threats. Treating everyone the same no matter how they look is very important to remember. When Jack helped August through Julian bullying him, it meant the world to him. When Julian bullied August, he didn't want to go to school because of how mean Julian was but then Jack helped
When thinking about the claims that are made about the man on the tightrope there are several lenses one can focus on. Through these varying views, the man on the tightrope is being inspected, as well as his greater world and the fly that he sees disappear and reappear in front of him. This shows there is an extensive variation of facts to be examined for and against the case of miracles. Consequently, the authors included in the book, In Defense of Miracles, each considers different important details as the defining factors in the debate of the existence of miracles. Of those, some focus more heavily on the likelihood of miracles themselves such as Hume, others focus on the existence of God such as Flew and Beck, and others focus on a particular example of a miracle such as Craig.

“Your deeds are your monuments” was said by Mr. Browne, a character in Wonder by R.J. Palacio. This quote means that your deeds and misdeeds are what people will remember you by when you are gone. My friends and classmates will remember me more from what I do and not what I say because my actions will speak louder than my words. Words are meaningless without action and we must do loving deeds towards others in order for others to remember us in a positive way. If we wish for the world to honor us, we must act lovingly and kindly towards everyone we encounter through our endeavors. The only way for our generation to get into the history books of the future is through the undertakings we do today, tomorrow, and in the future.

Seeing life through the eyes of a ten year old is fascinating. In Wonder, by R.J. Palacio, the reader sees school, life, and disability through August Pullman's eyes. The book follows Auggie as he go to school for the first time in his life. Disability is brought up a lot, which makes sense considering Auggie has a type of mandifibulofacial dysostosis that causes his face to look different. Although a facial disfigurement may not seem like a disability, it fits the criteria and is covered under the Americans with Disabilities Act. Due to the dozens of tough surgeries he went through as a child, the resulting weakness from the surgeries, and the random illnesses that he contracted as he grew up, Auggie was homeschooled until fifth grade when he transferred to Beecher Prep. There, he found a variety of classmates, friends, and bullies. Throughout Wonder, Palacio argues that different reactions to disability from family, friends, self, and society as a whole can affect people with disabilities.
