This week, the readings focused on the methods for preventing challenging behaviors through assessing the antecedents/settings and identifying and managing strategies to correct challenging behavior. In addition, we read about writing and implementing function- based assessments and identifying the variables in developing the plan. The key in this week’s readings for me is learning to evaluate the variables when developing a behavior intervention plan. The reason I find this the most important is, I believe this is the most difficult part of the behavioral assessment process. Once the evaluation, assessment and observations are complete, the team must use the information to develop a plan for behavioral intervention. As I stated earlier,
*Since Week 1 was unsuccessful in going to sleep around that specific goal time I changed my project by pushing my sleep goals back 30 minutes for the remaining 4 weeks.
In this assignment the author will suggest strategies to minimise effects of challenging behaviour in health and social care settings P3. The author will then discuss strategies used to minimise the effects of one type of challenging behaviour in health and social care settings M3. Finally evaluate these strategies for dealing with this one type of behaviour D1.
This report detailing issues in behavior intervention first reviews information regarding the use of functional behavior assessments and then explains intervention strategies which may be effective in dealing with behavior issues in schools. In addition, issues that impede treatment are discussed. This source appears to be objectively written with the goal to inform the reader of functional behavior assessments, treatment for problem behavior and issues which may cause treatment to fail. This source may be useful when researching Behavior Intervention Plans because team members and
Class SPE 568 Behavior Assessment required me to conduct multiple assessments to understand the various methods there are to identify the cause of problem behavior. I have learned
Fifth, incorporate an evaluation team to assess the outcome of the problem to assure; the needs of the program are met. Always stay focus.
The chart is very visual and easy for the child to understand. The reward can be decided together at the start of the day. The child would take ownership of moving the fireman up the ladder each time they were good.
Content area I: Assessment, includes the task list items I-02: Define environmental variables in observable and measurable terms and I-04: Design and implement the full range of functional assessment procedures (Behavior Analyst Certification Board, 2012). My submission for this content area is the Functional Behavior Assessment (FBA), which was completed in SPE 568. This artifact demonstrates how to use measurable and observable terms to define environmental variables, and effectively design FBA procedures.
When a child is demonstrating challenging behaviours is invited to sit near by a caregiver to express their feelings.
They then take the information gleaned from the observations and assessments and form their treatment plans. The ongoing collection of data is what drives behavior analysts’ decisions when it comes to making changes to the plan they have created. This guideline also includes the expectation that, when presenting information for publication or at a conference, behavior analysts present information with the highest degree of integrity (Bailey & Burch, 2011). This integrity is established by the use of the scientific knowledge that the behavior analyst has gained in their training.

In line with The Data Protection Act 1998 I have used a pseudonym for the induvial whom I have provided a case study and will refrain from using the organisations by name. Lisa is a 17-year-old who was admitted to the ward with severe depression and was suicidal. Lisa’s parents left her with her grandmother at the age of 10 as they both were alcoholics and could not afford to look after her. Lisa has had a rough upbringing. Lisa’s behaviour can change quickly from being happy to angry and violent.
There are many variables to take into account when properly prioritizing problem target behaviors for intervention. There are 4 assessment methods used by Behavior Analysts for obtaining assessment information and they are (a) interviews, (b) checklists, (c) tests, and (d) direct observation (Cooper, Heron & Heward, 2007). Interviews and checklists are “indirect assessments” approaches because the data collected is objective due to the findings being derived from recollections, reconstructions, or subjective ratings of events (Cooper et al., 2007). Tests and direct observation are what we consider direct assessment because it provides data that we actually witness as it occurs, thus making it the most preferred method of assessment.
P: Timothy will identify situations, thoughts, and feelings that trigger angry feelings to improve his behavior as evidenced by reducing the number of disciplinary referrals during the 1st Nine Weeks.

In applied behavior analysis behaviorists use techniques such as functional behavior assessment (FBA), to create functionally-based interventions that target maladaptive behavior. The goal of an FBA is to identify the conditions that predict behavior and the consequences that maintain behavior (Carr et al., 2002). If the link between antecedent, behavior, and consequence can be established, it will be possible to alter a behavior by changing its predictive stimuli and maintaining consequences (Bender, 2015). After forming this link by collecting data, a behavior intervention plan (BIP) will be created to diminish problem behavior (Bender, 2015). This BIP must target the function of the behavior and
