They lady who baby sat me from the ages of four through thirteen was a loving person I remember for breakfast she always made pancakes with eggs bacon and fruit on the side, she had huge birthday parties for each kid she watched over and every hour she would tell each kid that she loved them. I would have never thought that the lady who once took care of me wrestled in a mud ring at the age of thirty eight and imprisoned a local biker gang.
“My first duty as an undercover was to try to get in with The Sons of Silence, this was the scariest experience. To not show weakness not only in my force but as a gang member as well. I went into the bar that The Sons of Silence always attended,

The gang around us starts cheering and hollering the feeling was insane I truly felt powerful like a bull just like my mama used to say.
I giggled trying to picture my 57 year old aunt kicking a girls butt in the mud ring, I started reminding myself that this is why she is the person that she is. The doorbell rings and I jump in my seat imagining a biker man trying to come through the door, luckily it was one of the kids parents coming to pick their child up. Cheryl came back calmly with a smile on her face, to see her change from story telling about a dangerous moment within this event to a completely caring and loving person telling the child goodbye was a moment of realization for me this is her badass coming out not the bike rider undercover cop lady who experienced a boat load in her life, but her way of adapting and understanding what is needed of her in that situation.
As we got situated and my heart rate slowed down, I needed to understand her background she seemed completely traditional and the all American girl, but in her storytelling a different lady came out I continued to ask Cheryl if her background played a huge part in the person that she is today? Cheryl struggled trying to put her thoughts together, was she going to be raw with her truth or hid her truth like she has before? She answered; At the age of thirty-four I graduated from the police academy, I
What shocked me the most was the interweaving of families through their children. Unplanned pregnancies led to stunning realizations. After Dale Ann came home after the events that unfolded in Chicago, Grace Dionne scrambled to keep their family name intact. She sent her away to save them the shame, as American Indian's had a lot of pride, and went to her backup plan as Dale Ann could no longer support her and her husband for the rest of their life. Dale Ann loved kids, she pretended Crystal was hers when she watched
Cheryl’s journey in life started with struggles at a very young age. From the time she was very young, her parents had a very violent relationship that resulted in her father leaving. In many cases this would be acknowledged as a good thing, and I’m not disagreeing, but that hardship of losing your own father is also a tragedy to
This shows that the relationship with the mother and kids was very unstable in a way. The children then went out their way to pull a prank out in the street and risk Tiffany, the youngest sibling’s life. This was very dangerous but the children did not give off any fear from attempting the act.
So many new faces with unique life stories. What brought them all together was the sad fact that they didn’t earn enough money to provide for their family, that they had to face poverty in the most brutal season of the year. For the rough deck of cards most of them received, they smiled and burst with kindness and gratitude for what they did have. Once again, it was all about perspective. I am 99.99% sure that the man we chatted with at the end of the night wasn’t the only person in the room who snapped at one point in his life. Looking around as people dug into their dinners, most expressions seemed despondent, lonely, even shameful to me. Like if they could turn back time and do something over, they would in the blink of an eye. Maybe they had a moment in their lives when right and wrong changed places similar to the case of
Little did she know the Bronx wasn’t the same place she remembered growing up it had become a war zone filled with violence and drugs. The family moved in with their mother’s parents, their grandparents. The other Wes Moore’s mother tried to keep her kids out of bad neighborhoods by moving them into higher class neighborhoods away from the violence on the streets. Eventually, her older son got caught up in the drug life and moved out, so it was only
She said with a wicked smirk on her face, as she walked off laughing. Cindy tried, but she wasn?t finished in time. After they left Cindy went down to her room and lay on her bed and started to weep. She was lying beside a bible, was looking at a old picture that she and her parents had took when she was younger, just to remember how happy she was.
Not knowing how her mother would feel Mia crept downstairs and out the doors. When she got outside she was greeted by her brother, sister, dad, and her boyfriend. At the bowling alley, Mia and Erik were in teams against Tara and Johnny and then Jeremih switched with Tara. They played multiple rounds until it was time to go eat. Mia's team had won against Tara's team in bowling. After the game, they went to this nice five-star establishment. For an hour they eat, talked, and laughed at some good memories and new memories.
As the two dogs tied the battle, altercation between Skeetah and Manny arose as to who won the battle. Not to mention that the entire cause of the occasion was to a confrontation that had taken place beforehand at Randall’s basketball game. When daddy loses his fingers during the exact time frame of China killing her own puppy, intense emotions arose within me. The scene was a vivid surprise and seems to have even been a foreshadow of how shocking the arrival of Katrina was to the citizens of Bois Sauvage. These violent scenes create suspense of fear and sympathy for the characters in the story all the way up until the last horrifying event. Also, by adding these scenes Ward is able to anticipate the arrival of hurricane Katrina. Allowing readers to ponder upon how these characters are going to come together when Katrina arrives. These scenes also distract the reader from the obvious that a storm is on its way; however the characters within the novel seem to be disregarding it. When the storm finally hits readers are able to clearly see how the family sets aside almost every brutality to save each other’s lives. This is where the tenderness of the characters persona’s come in to play. In other words, although Ward wanted to place scenes of intensity within her novel, it is perceived to be that she did so with a mindset to build up to a mind boggling ending. With all the violence and chaos throughout the story it humbles the
“Earlier today, we learned that an attempt was made on your cousin’s life,” her father said to her. “Your mother has so much grief for your cousin, because of the actions that he has made since the past two years – deeds worthy of being told to all
It is hard to imagine what it is like to lose everything, and Cheryl was not accepting her new reality. At the start of her memoir she viewed herself as the victim, along with the fact that she wished she had, “A father who loved you as a father should [that] was greater than his parts” (133). Her biological father was a really father in name only, and he was extremely vicious and abusive to the children and their mother. When a stepfather, Eddie came into the family, he was by no means a good father, however in comparison to their biological father Eddie was an amazing man. After her mother’s death, Eddie tried to move on and Cheryl was upset because she expected more from him. She wanted him to be there for her. She cannot imagine a good father because both men fell short of her expectations of what a father should do. In this painful time, Cheryl longed to find a way to run from all her problems:
April and Cheryl Raintree’s life. My essay is about how April and Cheryl Raintree lived. April Raintree is a book about a young girl and her sister named Cheryl Raintree. This story tells us how they lived and how their life went without their parents. These two girls experienced how foster homes were.
The childhood of Cheryl Strayed was not a perfect one that every family dreams of. She was born in a dysfunctional family, her mother Bobbi, was a victim domestic violence and she had to experience the pain of seeing her mother suffer. After passing through a horrible nightmare, Cheryl mother had a second chance in life by remarrying a well men named Eddie, that provide them love and support, Strayed writes, “When she meet Eddie, she didn’t think it would work because he was eight years younger than she, but they fell in love. Karen and Leif (sister and brother) and I fell in love with him too…” (15). Years later,
Then all of a sudden the crowd which looked more like a mob now started to run and push us throwing more ice balls and clubs and the it was like I was in a whole new world it seemed like the real world was gone and it was replace with battle and I was a savage killer and it only was the one true word that I heard the crowd say and it was that word that put me in this new world.
I couldn’t even look at Cheyenne before I walked out of the courtroom. Instead I wanted to see Harley one more time. For just a brief second our eyes connected before she looked down. Fear, hurt, and anger flashed across her face.
Also, there was a scene where the Korean manicurist, Hae Won, was saying to Kate that she works hard for her two daughters and ask Kate,” what do you do for your daughter?” which made Kate cried and realize that she has not done anything good for Hayley. Kate is hopeless mom and has nowhere to go, making the audience feel pity for her. Overall, this makes people realized to appreciate the opportunities that come in life and do not take it for
