Black Lives Matter Movement Essay

One of the the most controversial topics of discussion in our nation is the Black Lives Matter movement. This movement has sparked up immensely because of the President in office right now, Donald Trump, and many events transpiring around the nation. The country is at separation between the people who think that Black Lives Matter is a real issue and the people who think it is not. Without a doubt, people need to be considered equally, no matter what is said at the end of the day. America was founded on the idea that every man that walks on the soil will have just as equal opportunities as the next, no matter the race. Three essential reasons people are determined to fight for this cause is to end job discrimination, stop police brutality, and gain equal rights within society.

For the past few years, racial tensions have been on the rise. Although many actions have been taken to prevent these conflicts from occurring, African Americans are still being undervalued by the state. As more African Americans are being turned away with little to no assistance from the American government, anger and the desire for change increased among them. When Trayvon Martin’s murderer George Zimmerman was acquitted for his crime, a great number of Americans were furious at the outcome. Three African American women named Alicia Garza, Patrisse Cullors, and Opal Tometi expressed their view on a Facebook post titled “A Love Note to Black People” and it ends with “Our Lives Matter, Black Lives Matter” (“Black Lives Matter”). Thus, a new liberation movement for black people was born. The hashtag #BlackLivesMatter rapidly spread throughout social media, bringing awareness of the struggles of African Americans. The Black Lives Matter movement is a call to action to eradicate the dehumanization of African Americans that exists in American society. With the constant targeting of African Americans by the police and the unfair treatment in the criminal justice system, the Black Lives Matter movement is a necessity to combat racism.

The (BLM) black lives matter movement is a group of people that have the same view on the the racial inequality in the united states and after trump won the election has had more riots and strikes saying that he is not their president. Well if you live here he sure is, but the BLM are the people that will not accept that he is the president and so they riot because they feel it will help. The BLM is a small domestic terrorist movement,they protest over small things and only having to do with black lives and if it will benefit them, and they do not care what happens to other people's property or lives they might destroy.

The Black Lives Matter (BLM) Movement is a movement against police brutality. This movement began after 17-year-old boy, Trayvon Martin was fatally shot, and his killer, former police officer, George Zimmerman was acquitted for the crime. (BLACKLIVESMATTER.COM) As Black Lives Matter has continued to make a difference through peaceful protests on a mass scale , such as kneeling during the national anthem at sporting events or peaceful protests after a shooting. Many have claimed that the movement is extremely offensive, against police officers, or that African Americans are claiming superiority over other races, while others continue to support the movement. The fight between Blue Lives Matter, All Lives Matter, and Black Lives Matter continuously strikes violent riots, but the question still stands- what is the Black Lives Matter movement really trying to accomplish?

The above narrative is just a mere glimpse of the hurt, anger, and pain in the black community after George Zimmerman was acquitted of charges of second degree murder against seventeen year old Trayvon Martin. These emotions were the stepping stones of a highly significant movement, the Black Lives Matter movement. The Black Lives Matter movement is a response as well as a stance against police brutality against African Americans, which uses the tragic deaths of teenagers Trayvon Martin and Michael Brown as a head for its cause. Many people on social media know the black lives matter movement or refer to it #blacklivesmatter, especially on twitter. The Black Lives Matter movement was founded by Patrisse Cullers, Opal Tometi, and Alicia Garza. Which is defined as an “ideological and political intervention in a world where black lives are systematically and intentionally targeted for demise. It is an affirmation of Black folks contributions to this society, our humanity, and our resilience in the face of deadly oppression.”

The fight for freedom was not an easy one for blacks. Years of racial bigotry programmed in society’s mind was the biggest hurdle for blacks in the US. You can change legislation but not the minds and behaviors of people. This made it imperative that black initiate different strategies to achieve the goal of being treated like a human being and having the same inalienable rights given to everyone else. They demonstrated peacefully and they demonstrated in ways that became violent. In the end, they got the attention they needed to begin change. Their fight not only gave rights to blacks but to all people.

The first thing i'm going to hit on is how the BLM movement is basically being used so that black people can do what they want, and say they’re doing it because they want the white people to feel what they felt. In an article the author says, “The rioters were also chanting “black power” and beating up any white person in sight”(Rocco). This illustrates how BLM movement is crazy and they don’t care about how society views them. Another thing is, is that they are saying black power, and when you say black power you’re saying, “You want them to be heard”; but if you're chanting that and beating on white people it’s like backfire because you're showing that you can't be civilized, and your doing anything to get your anger out on them in any form or fashion. This isn’t good for the BLM because you have some people who actually do care about it. They should just cut it, because in all reality this isn’t going the way they planned it.

A necessary and common fight for equality has been one that has survived throughout all of man’s existence. Due to recent racial divide and the product of racial profiling, a movement has risen up to combat these common issues. The most recent and most well-covered is the Black Lives Matter Movement. Even though it has been lauded by some media sources and individuals as the next great movement to champion for civil rights, the Black Lives Matter movement is not the same as the African-American Civil Rights Movement of the 1960s nor is it likely to be as successful. If the Black Lives Matter Movement continues with discrepancies in ideology, lack of clear leadership, and trends of hate, the movement is doomed to fail.

A movement known as Black Lives Matter was created due to the injustices that minority men specifically African Ameircan. Black Lives Matter also known as BLM is an activist group that campaigns against violence and racism towards Black individuals (cite). BLM focuses on bring attention to things such as police brutaility, racial profiling and overall racial inequality that exists in society today. This movement gained exposure during the widely covered case of Trayvon Martin. On February 26, 2012, George Zimmerman shot and killed 17 year old trayvon Martin. For decades black Americans have been treated as animals, looked at as if they are monsters, and killed like bugs. Actions like Police brutality and racism is what caused Black Lives Matter. The creation of the Black Lives Matter was a response by the black community to give a voice to black Americans affected by the increase of wrongful deaths due to the law enforcements and vigilantes across the country. This has been going on for so long that it seems like we are stuck in the past. For years, even decades black Americans have had to live the struggle of being equal. Even when things are going good and we think we finally have the same rights, something happened to change that. It is time to shed a light on the real purpose of Black Lives Matter and why they are important to today's society.

Why did the Black Lives Matter movement begin? How did it come about? Is systematic oppression towards blacks a real enough issue in the United States in order for them to raise concern? Along with police brutality? And discrimination? They simply cannot just be made up concepts. For that reason, Black Lives Matter was coincidentally created. Black Lives Matter is a social movement that desires to bring attention that black lives matter, too. I believe the movement wants to acknowledge that black people too deserve the justice they are currently not receiving. The Black Lives Matter movement has swept across America. It 's branched out with chapters in over 31 cities and held rallies and boycotts across the United States(Sidner). The Black Lives Matter movement started with the outrage of the death of a young man. It continues to take over headlines and raise awareness on police brutality and inequality. However, the movement has met resistance from the All Lives Matter group. This group thinks that Black Lives Matter is a movement to express hatred towards other races. However, statistics, the views of fellow citizens, and the overall purpose of the Black Lives Matter movement, can prove that the movement wasn 't meant to express hate on other races and that we need to support the movement instead of going against it.

Ever since the black people have stepped on American soil, they have continued to be victims of racism and violence. From slavery to lynching to segregation, the black people have suffered alot in this country. In the past few years, there are so many of them that have been targeted by the law enforcement authorities across the country. This movement’s goal is to raise awareness of racism and violence against African-Americans. They wants African-American to live with dignity and respect like other Americans do.

The Black Lives Matter movement began in 2013 after George Zimmerman was found not guilty of the murder of 17 year-old Trayvon Martin.
