Hello, I hope had a good spring break, and Welcome back! Today is the first day of Summer Registration!! I also wanted to let you all know about a great opportunity going on the weekend of April 15th. National Student Leadership Diversity Convention in Chicago is a great opportunity to get to enhance leadership skills, and have the opportunity to engage in discussion regarding aspects of diversity and inclusion. I added the link below so you will be able to get more information about the conference occurring at Malcolm X college. As a TRIO participant all fees will be paid for. If you have any questions about the conference or about Oakton, feel free to contact me. I hope to hear from you
I’m applying to UA Early College because I want to be able to step into college ahead of the game. I have been an overachiever since I was little and take each chance I get handed to me. This program additionally prepares me for courses I will take when in college. It gives a more profound understanding of how classes will be and the paces they will go at.
The Early College Alliance is a new opportunity for teenagers looking for a non-conventional high school experience. I, being one of those teens that are hoping to get more from education, am anticipating going through the ECA program.
The Summer Leadership Academy will host the girls Monday thru Thursday of every week in July for summer support and extracurricular activities. Additional summer staff is needed to chaperone field trips, facilitate long-term projects and expanded learning (financial literacy, leadership development, college and career exposure, etc.) Eight graders with consistent participation will attend a weeklong college tour after they complete the program with their mothers. Since the majority of the families we serve are African American, this will be a tour of Historically Black Colleges and Universities. In addition, younger girls will be supported with their academics by attending a weeklong BrainCake summer sleep away camp. They will learn about science, technology, engineering, and mathematics as well as other fun social capital building activities. DCPNI summer staff will support both activities
This fall is my first semester at “Cougar Nation”. I previously attended Saint Xavier University in Chicago, where I held several leadership roles. At the beginning of my sophomore year (August 2014) I resurrected an inactive organization on campus called the African American Studies Diaspora Club. The organization’s mission is to encourage and celebrate the gift of knowledge, power, and unity existing throughout SXU’s diaspora of African American students. Under my leadership, the AASDC became the premier Black organization on SXU’s campus as well as an excellent service to the Chicago community. My work within the organization allowed me to be blessed with several related opportunities of service to the SXU community. I was dedicated
This violates the attorney-client privilege which allows anyone to talk to their attorney in private and whatever is said can be held from the government or prosecutor. There is also a violation of the first amendment in which freedom of speech is taken away. It states that if someone talks about a terror investigation and gives away information regarding that investigation they can be prosecuted. This violation though is still being allowed though because they consider it to be inducing panic on the public. It is the same concept of that which you cannot yell “fire” in a crowded public space or “bomb” in an airport without being investigated by the police or some form of the police. It is supported because it start mass chaos which can lead
Over the course of the past four years, I can thank Orange High School for making an immensely positive impact on my life. I have made a wealth of incredible memories, endured numerous challenging obstacles, and formed deep relationships with a number of my peers, teachers, and faculty members that will last a lifetime. The benefits from my time as a Panther will undoubtedly carry with me forever.
My whole life I have been invested in doing what I love, focusing on my true passions, as well as finding new ones. I have been very involved in my high school, and have been lucky enough to be a part of multiple clubs and activities. Without these activities, my high school experience and life would be a lot different. I have been an active drama club member, a part of ‘Bottlecappers,’ a club advocating anti-drug, alcohol, and bullying to younger students in my district, and many other community service opportunities. I am lucky to have the opportunity to be in these activities, as they have shaped me to be the young adult I am today.
Even in my youth, I was concerned about the environment and humanity’s impact upon it. That concern developed into an ardent passion to fix or mitigate the issues we are bringing to our world. Thus my resolution to become an environmental engineer was born. However, most schools do not offer this program, and it has considerably narrowed my options. My search has led me to Rensselaer, the first college to establish an accredited Environmental Engineering program. While visiting Rensselaer, I spoke with an environmental engineer major, and she described her research and internship experiences. She specifically mentioned class lessons devoted to water quality. I have been doing research on this topic for the past two years and find it fascinating. Therefore, I was glad to see that I could use class instruction to build upon my prior knowledge. During
The Federal Register is a very important thing and what it all does and shows can be very beneficial to one. This Register is a way that the Federal government gets out their everyday business and what they all did that day. This Federal Register is published and released daily by the National Archives and Records Administration. What this paper contains is much different than a normal paper and to some might even be more informal than a normal paper. In this paper you will see the Federal Agency Regulations, proposed rules and public notices, Executive Orders, proclamations and other presidential documents. Without having this paper some people may never know what it going on in the country, this paper gives people just that knowledge.
The opportunity to participate in the Summer Focus Program will provide me with a multitude of new experiences and challenges. The chance to participate in this program will challenge me in ways that will help me grow as a student. Being apart of this program will provide me with career guidance. I’m very interested in the science and medical field, but I’m unsure as to what I specifically want to study. The Young Scientist Program will help give me a feel of what this specific field is like. My experiences with the program will also provide me with preparation needed for college and the application process. As a soon to be rising senior, college is not too far away and guidance with the application process would help me tremendously. Participation
I would like to attend Pratt Institute’s Summer Pre-College course to experience what it is like living on a college campus while learning important art skills that can benefit me as I pursue my career in Graphic Design. My love of art all started when I was in kindergarten. The first art project I remember was a paper collage of a winter landscape, with penguins drawn on top. What I enjoyed the most about this project was adding little white dots as snowflakes. My art teacher Karla gave each of us a Q-Tip and a small cup of bleach. I made sure to perfectly place each dot in the right place. When all of our drawings were donem, my teacher laminated and hung them in the hallway. I was so proud of what I created. Ever since that project I was hooked on creating art. Quickly it became one of my favorite pass times. By going to Pratt Institute’s Summer Pre-College course I wish to recapture the joy I felt when finishing my first art piece. As well as be surrounded by young men and women who understand the beauty that comes along in any creation of art.
I am currently finishing my junior year at Flagler College. This summer will be my last chance to intern as an undergraduate. I want this internship to be at CSUMB, with Dr. Steve Moore. Dr. Moore’s interest in studying marine biology through innovative methods is the perfect fit for me. I am interested in learning how to use new technologies to better understand and protect the marine environment. I want to study at Monterey Bay because the marine science department is much larger than that of my college. Along with having more equipped laboratories and work areas. The Ecosystem Electronics Lab has numerous resources that do not exist at my college. At Flagler College, there are only two laboratories and a small molecular room. In years past,
My first experience on Trinity’s campus was participating in the Leadership Greater Hartford Summer Nexus program during the summer of my junior year. I spent a week at Trinity’s Multicultural Office discussing diversity and inclusion topics with my peers, expanding my leadership skills and organizing a fundraiser for Jonathan’s Dream Playground. After spending time on Trinity’s campus, I had a natural curiosity to learn more about the college’s academic rigor and commitment to diversity and inclusion. During college fairs, I spoke with Trinity representatives about my Summer Nexus leadership experience and they informed about the Preview Weekend.

Thank you for helping me to apply to Cornell University for Summer College. Also, if you didn’t write the essays for me then I wouldn’t get accepted there, so overall without your help, I am nothing. As well, I want to share some of my experience with you. I really had a great time there and I extremely loved it. All of the people are really nice and I made many friends in only three weeks than I made it in 3 years in ASA. Also, I made some close friends who really care about me. One day, I had headaches very much. So, I couldn’t do anything. However, three of my friends (Girls) stayed with me for two hours and then I realized that we have homework, so, I pretended to be alright and forced them to get out of my room because I want them to
