Carmen laughs and say. “I just told you why I have to go”, said Carmen. ”Why you treating Carmen like that”, said Brooklyn? This whole conflict turned into something it wasn’t. Virginia Pollard was a cashier and storefront clerk for a company called Teddy’s Supplies. This is a family-owned company that sells film production equipment in New Jersey and Pennsylvania. During one of Pollard’s evaluations, her supervisor said she was making too many personal phone calls and it was interfering with her work. This was also put into her yearly review that everyone at home office would see as well. They asked her to keep her personal phone calls to the bare minimum because she was there to work and not to socialize with her friends. She was transferred to another department in the main warehouse that was behind the store. In this department, she would not be able to make any more personal phone calls. Her supervisor noticed that her work was no longer suffering. Her evaluation over the next few months said that her work behavior had changed incredibly and she was meeting all of the expectations that her supervisor had for her.
The treatment of Karla by her coworkers is the main surface problem because she seemed to be avoided by her coworkers who do not invite her to social gatherings after work. I assume that she is not treated as a “social buddy” may be because she is African American or may be it could be a result of her work ethic. It is the job of the manager (Daniel) to address this issue immediately before it goes far, to avoid creating an unfriendly or/and hostile work environment that might affect the productivity.
For the Management section, it is apparent that Mike has internal employee issues, as the majority of the employee have been written up more than once and some as many as six times. Tim cannot allow the employees to ruin the coffee shops reputation.

Work is one of the most important tasks fulfilled in an individual’s daily life. Whether, working in an office or at a super market in your local neighborhood, it is one’s dream to find a well-paying job to please his necessities. Workplace can either turn out to be the most fun place or the most miserable place to be on a daily bases. It depends primarily on the workers attitude towards what they do. The protagonist, Davis, is very negative towards his job in Ray Miller’s short story “work.” His job takes place at a basic office where the atmosphere of his surroundings is very frustrating, since none of the employees seem to want to go home even as the night approaches. On the contrary, Sammy, from John Updike’s short story “A&P,” works at a local supermarket named A&P where he is required to ring up groceries for all the customers. To him, this job is nothing but torture and depressing, until comes three ladies dressed in only bathing suits. The teenage cashiers felt excitement when seeing these girls; however the manager Lengal wasn’t quite happy. Instead, being an adult that he is following the societal norms, told them angrily to obey the dress code. This caused Sammy to go against conformity and fight for the girls rights to dress however they want causing him to quit his job. In both literary works, the narrators reveal their attitude towards their workplace in which they feel it’s banal and insipid.

Vicky must also take into account the duty to her boss, Wendy. First, Vicky must suggest that quick temper of Wendy’s be abolished because animosity between Wendy and her staff members may lead to a broader conflict. Also such behavior could lead the company as a whole to be less productive, because with Wendy’s quick temper it will be hard for staff members to share ideas. Sharing ideas between members of staff makes a company more successful.

Todd McFarlane, president and CEO of the McFarlane Companies, is an entrepreneur who understands the importance of product development. Comics, sports, toys, and rock-and-roll have all benefited from his creativity. When McFarlane’s dream to play major league baseball didn’t happen, he fell back on another interest he developed as a teenager—drawing superheroes. He faced the same question faced by all entrepreneurs: Could he make money pursuing his dream? He sent his sketches to prospective employers, and after 300 rejection letters McFarlane got a job freelancing for Marvel Comics. Working many hours for low pay, he made a name for himself and by 1990 was the highest-paid comic book artist
During a meeting, Ehrenreich expressed her complaint about the vacuum; however, when she looks towards the other employees, she notices the silence of the other employees. Ehrenreich looked towards the other employees for some support in the concerns expressed in the meeting, but instead finds them silent in their own world. She describes one of her fellow waitresses, Gail, as her role model, but at a meeting, she “stares sorrowfully at a point six inches from her nose” (pg 131). Though Ehrenreich viewed Gail as someone she can look up to and model after in her current occupation, Ehrenreich observes a moment where Gail is detached from the meeting’s concerns. Ehrenreich uses her observation of her fellow employees to strengthen her appeal to pathos. She builds her focus on pathos by describing the situation where she experienced the lack of support from her coworkers. Ehrenreich looks for support from her coworkers to help enforce the concern amongst everyone, but finds that everyone impartial to what is being discussed. Even her coworker Gail, who she views as a role model, did not offer her support for the concerns

As a Naval Officer I had the opportunity to experience both leadership and management. Today's Navy operates with fewer people and resources than before. Problem employees inevitably surface in most workplaces and sometimes employers need to counsel their employees and on occasions employers must discipline the employee. In an organization top-management often formulate the standards that supervisors must use when they have to deal with problem employees. A supervisor must have the skills required to organize, staff, lead, and control which includes the ability and talent required to deal with problem employees.
Many organizations and establishments have philosophies in how an organization is to be functioning and which positions are necessary to execute the plan. One of the crucial positions that make the establishment function is that of a Supervisor. The term supervisor is a word with Latin roots which means “to look over,” however, a supervisor is viewed as a person who is an immediate overseer to an employee at a workplace. The supervisor is the person an employee would directly report to for any work related situation. A supervisor plays an essential part of the management team that gives an organization purpose and leadership by being responsible for employees’ progress and productivity (Bittel & Newstrom, 1992).
