First and foremost when supporting the victim of bullying they have to know and understand that their accusations are being taken serious, that some type of discipline action will be taken and most important they will be protected and safe from any aggressor. Another way of supporting the target of bullying is empowering them to react in an unexpected manner. The victim needs to learn that they do not bully the bully, but rather kill them with kindness. For the most part an aggressor just wants to provoke
Bullying is a controversial issue that is often dealt with on a daily basis. Bullying is not only seen as misguided and harmless actions towards another, but is also seen as a violation of human rights. Whether it is serious or not, bullying can be found just about anywhere, primarily in places such as schools and daycares. But even though many people can brush off something like bullying, this hurtful act can actually take a toll on the victim, especially since most victims are children that can easily overreact to emotional and physical harassment. These individuals are usually embarrassed, as well as intimidated from being bullied, which in turn can make them do something that they might eventually regret. In other words, children that are
• The victim of bullying should be listened to, encouraged, believed and reassured. They should have a plan going forward to include a strategy on how to protect them-selves and be supported to develop awareness, resilience and to restore their confidence and
Answer: The best way to support children, young people and their families when bullying is suspected is first of all to listen to the child or person that is being bullied when they talk to you about it. We must reassure the child by letting them know that it is not their fault and that they were very brave to come to us to let us know, and that we will now get the issues resolved. We must ask the child or young person what they are wanting to do next about the bullying and let them know the options that are available to them. The bullying must be taken seriously and investigated thoroughly. We must also make sure that we talk to the childs parents or carers about the bullying showing them respect and assuring them that we will investigate the incidents and resolve the issues. It is important that we remain calm at all times as this can be
A quote by Shay Mitchell states, “I realized bullying has nothing to do with you. It’s the bully who is insecure.” I’d like to build on what Shay Mitchell said. He is right that nothing is wrong with the victim but that something is wrong with the bully themself. I agree because bullies do what they do, not as much to put somebody down but to make themselves feel more powerful. My position in bullying is usually as an upstander, as I try to help the person who is being bullied. It is important that we realize that a group of people against a bully is always stronger than one bully alone. I’d like to conclude with the fact that bullies can be stopped but only if people care and make an
She describes that confronting the bully, by fightback, sharing with friend and family for intervention, are different strategies used by victims. In some case the victim is unable to equalize this power over the bully. Having low self-esteem, depression, and suicidal and homicidal ideations. Some victims carry the hurt of bullying into adulthood. More or less victims tend to lose faith in other people for comfort and support. She contends “the adverse social and emotional consequences of bullying victimization do not support the idea that bullying builds character. Virtue Theory quite simply is an ethos based on an individual’s character. Right and wrong are solely based on the discretion of the individual and, to be assumed, a product of the environment in which they were raised. When making decisions, a pure virtue theorist would make decisions based only on their assessment of acceptable; in most cases one hopes it is aligned with those affected by the decision. Utilitarian Theory is better known as ‘the ends justify the means’. This is similar to the previous theory but deviates in that the outcome must be considered ‘good’.
The sad truth about bullying, is that although people express opinions of distaste for bullying, most people do not engage in helping behavior and intercede in the situation where this is occurring (Cowie, 2014). A study conducted by Atlas and Pepler (1998) showed how accurate this fact is. 60 scenarios of bullying involving elementary school children were videotaped. The results found that in only 10% of the scenarios a bystander engaged in prosocial behavior and helped the victim, which is a shockingly low percentage. Many other cases have revealed similar results regarding defenders in bullying situations (Evans & Smokowski, 2015).

The Flight Path of Airplanes Over Neighborhoods The houses can’t be unbuilt, and the airports can’t be torn down. But maybe the fences can be mended. –Robbie Sherwood In the past 10 years, many cities across the country have outgrown the planner’s expectations. Unfortunately the airports that were built 20 or more years ago, have not grown with the cities. Phoenix has tripled in size in the past 10 years. The tripling of air traffic has not had anywhere to go. The same two runways that have been serving the city since 1935 when the airport was built have been extremely over loaded. It is not just happening in Phoenix, a few years ago Denver received a new airport to relieve the overflow of traffic from the older Stapelton
