For my independent project I’m going to do an internship at a hospital. The purpose for this would be to gain experience and how the system works. I chose this because I want to work as a surgical nurse when I grow up which is practically working at a hospital. I would know how to communicate with people and how they deal with the sicknesses.
The final product would be how the hospital would work and how I have to communicate with them since im new to the whole system. It would further my skills and make me a better person to talk to.
I have always wanted to become a surgical nurse and I want to see how it is since im doing the internship.
The average salary for a surgical nurse is Staff Nurse - RN - Surgical First Assistant salary is $88,566,
My mom has worked in hospitals since before I was born. From being a nurse to becoming a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist, she spent a lot of time in hospitals, which meant her family did too. After spending many nights and even holidays at them, hospitals became like a second home to me; and the staff, a family. I learned to love everything about hospitals: the smell, cleanliness, layout, and even the chaos. I saw how controlled yet sincere everything was. I saw and learned things wandering around hospitals that many others will never understand.
Nursing is more than a profession taught by science. It is an art that the nurse refines through the creative use of oneself based on the skills and expertise, to transmit emotions and meaning to the patient. Nursing is a process that is subjective and requires interpretation, sensitivity, imagination and active participation. A core skill utilized by a nurse is advocacy, both for our patients and our profession. Our profession requires participation of advocacy at all levels of nursing, starting at the bedside and continuing all the way to nurses in legislation. To be a proficient patient advocate, the nurse must be able to assess the patient’s constant change in physical, psychological, spiritual, and social needs. I apply my knowledge
I’m able to organize and memorize things in an order that I can quickly and swiftly reach the tools and instruments as the surgeon asks for one during the operation. I will have to be focused and diligent during the operations in my ability to listen and follow directions. In this career, my compassion and good people skills will come in handy in helping others around me whether they are the patients, relatives of the patient, or my coworkers. Advantages to this career would be helping ill people get another chance at a longer life, working with some of the best surgeons in the state, getting to participate in procedures, and learning to better my career. Disadvantages include getting too emotionally attached to patients and their families, having to break bad news to patients and loved ones of the patient, and not being able to save every person on the operating table. The average annual salary of a surgical technologist in May 2016 was $46,160. The lowest 10 percent earned less than $31,720 and the highest 10 percent earned more than $64,800. This field of work is

The goal of the internship was to complete a 150 hours and provide a weekly summary of activities. In order to get the internship I had to do a phone screening with Mary Doe. She is the administrative assistant to Commander John Doe. Who is the Assistant Associate Director of Facility Support and also the internship supervisor for the SIU Health Care Management students at FHCC. I meet with CDR John Doe for a brief interview. We went over my goals and what I hope to gain by interning at FHCC. I felt interning at FHCC would be a natural transition because CDR Wallis has a background in Healthcare Administration.
In my time volunteering at the hospital, I hope to gain many different experiences. However, there are a few main ones: adaptation through enrichment and dependability. First of all, I want to get to know and adapt to the environment of the hospital and learn how different processes work. This is a crucial part of being in the atmosphere of a clinic. Also, the experiences that I will have at the hospital will help me to understand the routines and entailments of the career I would like to pursue. I hope to become a Physician’s Assistant in the future and this will be the best way to know if it is the right position for me. This enrichment of my understanding will help guide my passion for this career path and hopefully strengthen it.
An internship can also heighten the awareness of community issues, motivates to create opportunities, embrace new ideas, and give direction to positive change. A successful internship can provide valuable information in making decisions about the direction of future studies or employment. An internship is an opportunity to not only use and develop industry-related knowledge and skills, but also to enhance some of the skills that are transferable to any professional work setting. For some people, the internship is the first introduction to the world of work. No matter where the skills and understanding of professionalism lie, internship is a chance to develop them even further.
I first heard and learned about this position in second semester OR clinical. I do not personal know anyone who works in this area. The main task of my internship was to gain more experience and knowledge of our respective field. Overall, the experience proved to be both enjoyable and rewarding. During this internship I used the skills that I learned from my Medical Assistant class and used them in the real world scenarios at the hospital. Also while I there I was exposed to new experiences. Such as performing Urine test on Drug and alcohol patients. For this procedure I had to stand in the restroom with the patient's and watch them urinate into a cup. I had to stand in the restroom with the patients because in the past they try and cheat the system. For example

Because I would like to eventually become a neurologist, I hope to become more accustomed to hospitals and helping patients. I want to experience what working in a hospital is like as well as develop skills that will help me when I go to get a job later.
Depending on the location if you have the proper certification you will be eligible to do temporary work for $95- $105 per hour, 40 hour work week and $3,800- $4,200 weekly. “The job outlook predicts a 31% growth over the next decade, which is a much higher rate of growth than many other occupations in the medical field and other industries across the United States. This may be due to a number of factors, one of which revolves around the fact that there will always be a need for pain relief in the field of medicine and the shortage of nursing staff across the country has caused this position to be a highly sought after role. The median rate of pay for this job is roughly $46.37 per hour or an annual salary of $96,460, although there is room for advancement depending on experience and education.” (http://nursejournal.org)
It is my understanding that Ha Nguyen is applying for an internship with your organization, working with children in your childcare program. Ha is a bright, honest, sensible young woman, a young woman that I'm sure she would be an asset to your childcare program. I first met her in 2013 at Sierra College. We were both enrolling in a general childcare program there and became acquainted through a number of common classes that we shared. Although she was not confident in her English skills, she was very persistent and even elicited the help of another classmate. She struggled with the computer mechanics of course at first, but she impressed me with her ability to figure things out and her willingness to work hard.
Pulmonary edema, renal tubular acidosis, hypervitaminosis and dyslipidemia were some of the terms I searched for on the internet on my first day of internship at a hospital in Amman, Jordan. As I entered the Coronary Care Unit on that day, I felt bombarded by all the medical vocabulary and I had no clue what it all meant. I spent most of my day Googling all the terms, asking questions and creating lists of medical vocabulary and pathologies.
