This investigative study sets out to enact a SWOT analysis of Apple Inc. During the report I will discuss the current market position of Apple, it’s strengths and weaknesses going forward, as well as any potential opportunities or threats to it’s business model. It will culminate with an analysis of whether SWOT is an effective tool in helping a tech-giant such as Apple improve or update its business.

Morrison (2011) defines ‘SWOT analysis is a familiar analytical tool, highlighting the firms’ strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats.’ SWOT is a tool used by businesses to evaluate current market position and formulate business strategy going forward. Interestingly, due to the nature of personal input into the matrix system used to undertake the analysis, the constitution of it can be different for whoever undertakes it, especially if you take into account their position within the company. This can be seen as both a positive and negative of the analysis system, as it is largely down to personal interpretation of the pros and cons of a businesses structure.
