SWOT Analysis The SWOT analysis is a tool used for strategic planning. SWOT stands for strengths, weaknesses, opportunity and threats. It is an internal analysis of a firm’s strengths and weaknesses and an external analysis of threats and opportunities. A firm’s strengths and weaknesses in the organization are what will determine if a condition in the external environment is a threat or opportunity. In this paper, I will write a SWOT analysis on Cincinnati Bell Telephone. Internal Environment Analysis The internal analysis is based on factors inside the company that the company has some control over. “A company’s resources, capabilities, and core competencies are the foundation of competitive advantage. The firm combines individual tangible and intangible resources to create capabilities. In turn, capabilities are used to complete the organizational tasks required to produce, distribute, and service the goods or services the firm provides to customers for the purpose of creating value for them” (Hitt, et al., 2013). Strengths: The following strengths are attributes that enhance Cincinnati Bell’s competitive advantage. Cincinnati Bell Telephone was the first telephone company in their service area and has been in existence for over 140 years. The brand name “Cincinnati Bell” is both well-known and respected.
