“The Yellow Wallpaper” is a semi-autobiographical novel. A lot of episodes come from the author's real life in the book. “The Yellow Wallpaper” adopts the first person "I" to reveal a knowledge female’s tragic fate in a social situation to us. In order to break the bondage of family and seek self personality liberation, the heroine fell into the plight of schizophrenia. Gilman uses a lot of Symbolisms in the story. In “The Yellow Wallpaper”, the nursery is the heroine’s and her husband's bedroom. The Windows barred by fence and the bed was fixed to the floor, that convey the meaning of a closed and isolated to the readers. The heroine’s husband Jone chooses this room for her on purpose, that is his innermost thoughts and feelings. Jone hopes can control heroine by imprisonment. In the different stages of the story, the different forms of wallpaper shows heroine’s state of mind. Wallpaper patterns from chaos to clarity with the heroine's recognition of herself. The heroine said this is the worst wallpaper she had seen in her life from the perspective of aesthetic life. During this period, the heroine's mind is awake. The heroine feels guilty, because she is not able to take care of the family, be a good wife, good mother, and do the secretly writing to against her husband's will. As time went on,the heroine's attitude has changed toward the wallpaper. The complex wallpaper pattern has fascinated heroine, and made her drunk to study it.
